Nicki Minaj returned to her hometown of New York for a high-profile, unannounced performance in Times Square last night ( April 6).

Thousands of people watched Nicki perform a medley of her hits, all to help launch the new Windows Nokia Lumia 900 phone.

Some of the world’s leading visual artists turned a prominent building near her performance into a living, breathing entity using cutting-edge CGI technology, with 60ft waves appearing to cascade down the building.

Nicki also took the time to shoot a video for her song “Starships (Remix)” from her recently released album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

“Performing in my home town of NYC the same week as the release of my new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is amazing and it really is a dream come true.”
