Kendrick Lamar

A Quick Story of The Effects of Kendrick Lamar’s Control Verse

(AllHipHop News) By now, everyone living above rocks has heard Kendrick Lamar’s murderous verse on Big Sean’s “Control” where he effectively tells the Hip Hop game they are beneath him.

Though Kendrick only named ten rappers, a bevvy of others chimed in. Some took it well and others not so much.

These are the emotional and psychological effects Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse had on Hip Hop in 18 hours.

It gave Fabolous a sudden urge to find a recording studio:

…and apparently gave him amnesia of previous 24 hour recording studios he has recorded at:

It opened up Tyga’s eyes that were once admittedly blinded by the allure of money and rededicated the young MC:

Tyga Twitter

Hours later this career changing epiphany was deleted but the determination seem to not have faded away:

Mac Miller heeded Kendrick’s threat and began forgetting all nouns and verbs and began planning an adjective-only rap career:

Meek Mill accepted the challenge (without his usual exclamation marks):

First, Paul Cain took claim of Los Angeles:

Then named the songs that will be in response to Kendrick:

Then interestingly enough claimed he stopped rapping years ago:

After bouts of arrogance, Lupe Fiasco began assuming the personality of a few of the MC’s Kendrick Lamar mentioned:

PushaTLupe Twitter - LupeFiasco- Wale Rebuttal- Would trip but ...

(2) Lupe Fiasco (LupeFiasco) on Twitter

Then tweeted himself in a circle:

Then an OG came down to speak to the youngin’s:

In the end, Kendrick Lamar’s force of nature verse on Big Sean’s “Control” caused personality disorders, loss of memory of local recording studios, hurt prides and so much more.

However, over 15 hours later and it hasn’t caused one response song.

  • churchboy2

    Kane spoke the truthdotcom.

Why is the author claiming that the verse was a diss??

    • MrJayK

@churchboy2:disqus – I’ve been saying the same thing. People are losing sight of what the verse actually said. I know everyone wants this to be a diss record, and are lookin for someone outta the blue to “respond” (Joell Ortiz), but all it is is Kendrick being confident and hungry. Truth be told, it’s a breath of fresh air. I don’t know why people are hatin so much. This is as hip-hop as hip-hop can get. Kane couldn’t have said it better.

  • Boomie Rogers

I’m starting to lose respect for lupe. He’s been whining too much lately. Stop whining and do something about whatever the hell u wanna whine about on that particular day!

  • Dubz

“However over 15 hours later and it hasn’t caused one response song”

Exactly….nobody was hungry enough to put something out yet…thats what I’m waiting on.

    • Taihair Djehuty

I don’t think it’s that they’re not hungry enough. K.Dot’s verse was just nasty and now people have to bring their A game. They know that, with the buzz the verse has generated, if they come with some half hearted crap, the online and rap community will murder them.

  • DollasTX

    paul cain pumps estrogen …

  • puppet_master718

PAUL CAIN????? I DON’T THINK ANYBODY IS CHECKING FOR PAUL CAIN, GET BACK TO BEING FAB’S HYPE MAN.

  • Jayrock6631

C’mon Llyod Banks where are you or Nas

    • Eli Pinilla

      Nas is beyond this….

    • Taihair Djehuty

Why would Nas reply? He wasn’t put on notice. He’s already a proven great

    • Joe

Didn’t he give respect to Jay, Nas, Em and Andre

  • Obi Won

lol Lupe is a funny dude with those rebuttals , but im sure no one has responded yet, b/c everyone is going to have to come CORRECT. Not some get high, hit the booth and freestyle. That’s been the problem, loud pack, mollies, freestyles, record then “New Song by Blah Blah”. Pen and Pad time

    • RhymingOverBeats

haha… “Blah Blah” would be a dope rap name.

  • Casor_G

None of the GUMPS who responded are worth a damn.

I’d like to see 3 stacks ether this clown.

The verse was nice, but the fact it caused so much hype is proof hip-hop done fell off

    • God Forgives

but what has 3stacks got to do with NY (east coast) rappers though??

      • Tre C

Krit from Mississippi, so i guess everybody is included

      • K.R.I.T.’s in the “new rappers” category Kendrick spoke on, that’s why he responded.

    • ihatehater

Hear hear. Only comment that actually said somethin’

    • Guest

he didn’t diss 3 stacks dipshit

  • Eli Pinilla

I dnt get it. Shit just dropped 15 hours ago and hiphop blog writers are already lookin for immediate responses. Nobody wants to hear some rushed pressured ass verses. Let the shit play out…..i woulda loved for him to call out freddie gibbs. And happy he named big krit. Krits the only duded k dot dropped in his song that isnt a mainstream nutthugger

    • Taihair Djehuty

Normally when shit like this drops, rappers do drop songs in less than 24 hours. But K.Dot’s verse was so nasty, I’m sure more than a few sheets were tossed in the trash last night and this morning. So you can’t really blame writers for expecting verses so soon as rappers generally have dropped them that quickly in recent years. K.Dot just made it so they couldn’t lol.

      • Eli Pinilla

Joell ortiz just dropped a nasty response though. I damn near stand corrected lol

      • Taihair Djehuty

I’m going to have to go and check that then. Joell always got some bars

      • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

        JOELL ORTIZ IS GABAGE,STR8UP

      • 7yoyo7

Your name just discredited your comment.
Joell has always been dope, “125 part 2” is the truth.

      • johnblacksad

“your engineer is a boxer, he gotta punch you”

        125 is sick!

  • Damnit im glad Kane said what he said! Thats why hes top 5 in the world dead or alive next to Rakim Slick G Rap and KRS….sidenote…Paul Cain is still alive?? LOL

  • junj03

I am sure soon enough we will here some type of response, at least i expect j. cole to answer back. the others i don’t know. Rappers have to take some time in order to make a good response. not some trash reply like lil wayne’s ghoulish

  • Ravishing Quinc Rude

Someone should tell the author of this post that Lupe’s tweets are protected to prevent people from trying to sully his name kind of like how he did.

  • Tjzoo

Lupe hasn’t done anything good since Food and Liquor… He should Kick & Push himself back to the studio

    • PeterPanPiss

The Cool was classic Lupe. Since then he has made a few good songs but his overall projects have been terrible.

‘paul cain in the king of LA and NY’– SAID NOONE EVER in the history of ever. lmaoo

kendrick runs shit– and tyga. you just suck

  • KILL NEW YORK RAPPERS

    NEW YORK RAPPERS MAD…LMAO

  • Tre C

Krit, Cole, Drake, Jay Electronica all can rap on the level of Kendrick. I like Pusha, but he lacks the versatility in his subject matter. Just my opinion

    • True_Fan

I say the same things, I add J Cole to the list though> Kendrick just has to get better at making tracks, because he might be the best spitter of them all.

  • Choppaliss

Fab probably gonna come hardest than who was mentioned !!!!!!!!!! he is mad underrated

    • Taskforce Taylor

fabolous? with his bubble gum bars?

  • True_Fan

NY dudes be like……………………. GET EM A$AP. lol NY been done.

  • dehova

It goes to show how shit hip hop has been when this verse, which after first listen was far from his best, got him more attention than his classic album

    • 2012Industry1

Disagree! He sold a million…this is just talk. He got the right attention because of the album, easy to back up what he said because of the album.

      • dehova

Agree with your disagreement! But I heard more about this joint than K.Dots album

      • 2012Industry1

Then where have you been the last 10 months? He’s had 2 #1 Singles, and crazy write ups for that album!

      • dehova

I’ve been busy with my online business. Mainly on twitter. I didn’t see him trending for 2 days straight

  • johnblacksad

Love to see the kid Kendrick do his thang but you can never get me to pick him over Sean Price or Styles P. …and that’s just to stay in New York

  • johnblacksad

I see Meek Mill is tryin to take the “I’m tougher than Kendrick anyway” road…

As if Kendrick ever claimed to be a G… smh

  • Fatz Grizzy

Joel Ortiz Garbage? Niggas need to do their homework?

    • J.Erick

Joel is weak. The weakest in SH without a doubt

      • King Flashy TheFirst

        Crooked I is the weakest.

      • Why’s it even matter who’s allegedly the “weakest” though, especially when everyone’s gonna have a different answer for it anyway? Niggas stay focused on all the wrong shit, all four of them cats get busy in the booth and been doin so for quite some time now.

  • Wavpin

Kendrick took probably six month writing his verse and planned this … give the Mc’s some time … It’s not about who write the fastest ….

    • Mr.CPT

That was the most dumbest comment I heard. You have to be really slow to say some dumb shit like this. hahahahahahaha

      • Wavpin

You probably dumb enough to believe everything you see on TV… you obviously not an artist… you obviously never work in a studio or an album, you obviously don’t know shit about what’s going on in the industry, you probably never met a ghost-writer, you obviously never got out of your country, you obviously as dumb as your comment …. hahahahaha … you really think everybody here is an idiot…. I suggest you don’t answer back… ’cause I won’t… a wise man told me don’t argue with fools …. LMAO!

  • Tha Penutt

Lamar done shook up the entire hip hop world! lol

  • J.Erick

everyone has an opinion, I understand that, but who gives a fukk what Paul Cain thinks?

  • MissDeal

Who the hell is Paul Cain?

    • Honest Phireworkz

      I wanna know also

    • LiddyBug86

MissDeal, really though? Never heard of this dude!

    • Cory R. Bly

PAul Cain was with FAb and Joe budden before Fab blew

      • Freezamon

        Thats fab’s brother

    • bigdoe6

He’s one of the realist niggas in NY. #Fact

  • Q.

Nice strategy by K. to make emcees tighten their helmets…
Even the so-called lyrical “artists” in the game have gotten satiated and consistently water down bars for radio spins/cash/mainstream aka mass appeal bka white female consumers (?). Shoutout to BDK for weighing in.

  • jd

Paul Who? Whats this dude retarded? Gimme back my 16 dollars!

  • pauleyPee

“I’m the King of New York!” LMFAO Several NYC niggas heads exploded when they heard that, lmfao. SuuuuuuuuuuuPeeeeeeeeeeeer disrespectful lmfao. It’s like getting cheated on… No matter what NYC rappers do, they’ll never get him back for this one, lol.

Rap has been the equivalent to 80’s hair metal, all fluff and no substance. This is a step in the right direction to bring back real hip hop, IMHO

  • Matt Swan

It’s cool to see that Kane was the one to make a real point out of this; y’all got called out, do something about it. I like K Dot, but I want to wait and see his next album before I give him the “next Messiah” of Hip Hop moniker. Too many “hot” artists come out with all kinds of fire on the first album only to fall on their a$$es on the next. Imma let dude breathe and see if he can continue or will he get full of himself and turn stale like green bologna.

    Much Love to Kendrick Lamar~

Reload on em Kendrick….go straight for the jugular, cause you best believe they coming for yours! lol

Kendrick got all these niggas shook!

  • heavyboy

    J. Cole ain’t no slouch though… KL knows that.. that’s why he mentioned him first*

  • arrdeesss

Now if his sales and fan support can match his hype and confidence then we got something good here.

  • all these rich rappers dont have their own studio?? thats blasphemous. wtf is up with that??? me no understando… mic, check, recording program, check, press record, check, rap, check, adjust levels, check, done.

  • who da funk is paul cain??? lol..

  • Anthony Gutierrez

Kendrick has no Swag. I’ve never heard anyone say they want Swag like his. How could you even be a rapper with no Swag ? Dumb rappers trying to be “lyrical” trying to respond they don’t even know its all about Swags.

    • Jeff Active Reynolds

      kill yourself

      • Anthony Gutierrez

Yeah but how could you even be a rapper with no bitches ?

      • Tjzoo

        White Frat-boy logic

    • johnblacksad

      LMAO tho…

      >>>> nu troll alert

‘Swags’ as you put it… can be important sometimes, it depends on your lane… if you’re rapping pain like Black Rob, you actually wanna avoid having any ‘swag’

And you’re raising some philosophical sh!t… is there such thing as “no swag”?
Maybe all of us just have different swags… What’s swaggy (as Juelz Santana puts it) to 2chainz or Juelz Santana for that matter may not be fit for Warren Buffet or you or me… Maybe Black Rob whom i just mentioned has a ‘grimy swag’, just like Sean Price and’em… Kendrick’s swag is his, it makes him HIM! Same for everybody else… Rick Rubin etc…

  • Urban Eye Candy

It’s sad that it took this one verse to shake the tired branches of Hip Hop. Out of all the tweets Big Daddy Kane said it best twitter and social networks are gossip, getting in the studio and dropping some hot shit is Hip Hop. And also agree with “I Got Jokes – Calm Down” all these rappers got cars and women and all that money can buy but don’t have access to their own studio?!? I mean you’d think that would be the FIRST thing you’d buy as working in the studio helps makes the hits that keeps your pockets fat! But hey I guess cars and women is where your money goes to first.

    • Treezy

Exactly it should have been about this from the beginning it’s like rap got lazy and it took that verse for people to want to start saying something about it again..smh
