Jay Z’s Being Investigated By MLBPA For Giving Gift To Robinson Cano

(AllHipHop News) On Watch The Throne‘s “N***as In Paris” Jay Z rapped “What’s 50 grand to a motherf**king like me?” in response to a $50,000 fine issued by the NBA. It will be interesting to see if Jay has a few bars in the future for the Major League Baseball Players Association after the union decided to investigate the new sports agent for giving a gift to one of his Roc Nation Sports clients.

According to ESPN, the MLBPA is looking into a possible agent regulation violation stemming from a $33,900 watch Robinson Cano received from Roc Nation. Cano was given the limited-edition Hublot Shawn Carter Classic Fusion during his 31st birthday celebration in Belgium last month. He posted a photo of the timepiece on Instagram.

Union rules state that any gift from an agent to a client over $500 must be disclosed in writing. The regulations are to ensure players choose agents based on merits and not favors. If it is determined that Jay Z did violate the rules he could face an unspecified disciplinary action.

In a very impressive coup, Jay got Cano to leave high-profile sports agent Scott Boras and sign with Roc Nation Sports/Creative Artists Agency in April. The sought-after free agent is currently looking to sign 10-year, $310 million contract with Yankees.

  • Troll_E_G

Sounds like pure hate and very unnecessary…they mad a Black man bout to take there money nothing more or less ….and using every obstacle to disrupt his ambition

    • these rules were in place before jay got in the sports game. when he walked in he should have learned the rules and this would have not happened. plain and simple. On the bright side what ever he gets fined will be nothing comapred to his cut of the 310 million dollar contract. look at the fine as the cost of doing business..

      • Troll_E_G

Cost of business is nothing but extortion

    • Ihatehater

      ‘their’

  • Reblogged this on HUEY mix wit RILEY.

  • I have a $10 watch and it tells the time just the same…

  • brotha_man

the problem is that the gift can be perceived as a bribe, and there is a policy on agent client relationships. jay need to be a little more shrewd, business men do this all the time. the only difference, business men/women do a better job at hiding the gifts they give clients. tell ur clients to stay off twitter/social media flaunting gifts. in my industry business clients give me gifts all the time, just gotta keep it on the hush. its unethical

    • Troll_E_G

My thing is the rule should be repealed….what’s wrong with him taking gifts…the agent gon take his money

      • brotha_man

because if im an agent how can i compete when jayz buys clients new cars and 30,000 watches. they just want to keep an “honest” playing field. big brother hates monopolies

      • Troll_E_G

Every agent does and monopolies are owned everywhere

    • johnblacksad

the problem is that this watch is like a 500$ watch to Jay.
He prolly let Cano keep it like you’d let your lil’ cousin keep your Casio
(no dis to you nor your lil’ cousin)

Cano, should have more sense than to be stating who he got the watch from. Heck he can afford to buy himself the watch, but he want to boast to the world what Daddy Warbucks bought him lol…..
Also Jay bought his client Skylar Diggans a benz of some type as a birthday gift or something.
Jay better play by the rules or they gonna show him the door, cause essentially he is buying or influencing clients to jump on his team. Which we know is against the rules.
