The creator of the classic rap album Illmatic, recently spoke with Bossip, and Nas shared some of the younger rhymers he thinks is killing the game right now,

“Mac Miller’s my man,” said Nas before adding other emcees he’s listening to. “Drizzy, Kendrick, J.Cole. It’s a couple of good fellas out there that I’m feeling.”

Nas famously declared “Hip Hop Is Dead” on his 2006 LP. Eight years later, it appears Esco is more confident in state of the culture.

The Boy Mac Miller Really Improved Over These Years

    • Obi Won

I always thought it was the other way around. To me he was cool in the beginning when that K.I.D.S came out, then his stuff started to sound repetitive.

      • SleepyTheGreat

“Delusional Thomas” and “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” Were Two Projects That Forced Me To Give Him Creditability. Before That He Was Just Good Production, But Maybe I Missed A Few Joints

Nas is sucking up. Must be broke. He knows they aint sh!t.

    • pauleyPee

That you even opine that Nas could be broke is outrageous. You obviously haven’t paid attention over the last couple of decades.

    • David Smoke

what does broke and sucking up have to do with him liking those artist cause thats what he likes lol.. just cause we like other rappers doesnt mean we should downplay his opinion

  • Troll_E_G

Lotta white rappers killing it then they name 2…Earl westshirt or whatever his name is better. Y does these white dudes get so much acclaim when they avg at best n couldn’t see an unsigned rapper in a battle….Scarface was right smh

    • FRUKOH

someone sounds mad they couldnt get on

      • Troll_E_G

Tf u talking about…u are truly an imbecile

      • FRUKOH

so is ya mother thats why u chat such bs. faggit!

    • nigga look at young jezzy, literally one of the worst rappers to come along in a long ass time… yet he gets acclaim… he sucks.

      • Troll_E_G

First off , don’t address me as nigga…I’m a king

      • king of what? lol… cant stand niggas that think they are all kings n shit… if yall kings i guess white people are Gods.. lmfao

      • Troll_E_G

King of one self as We All are..don’t make it black or white cause the true gods are niggas aka NGR which means god smh but I guess u didn’t know that n think because I wanna be called king n not the improper word nigga….its a problem…grow up n take pride in yourself n community

      • King of oneself? stfu lol.. You are a human. Thats it.

      • Troll_E_G

Speak for yourself…I’m a king n u are too even tho u looking mad childish….hue man is nothing more than a colored man in which we all r but your thinking too small or u just trying to be funny so keep it coming so I can school u

      • im childish? your calling yourself a king. Me, im a human. i dont need to walk around calling myself a king.

      • Troll_E_G

ThEn don’t call yourself that but crying like a female because I see the world threw a different set of eyes only proves your actions are far from grown because it displays childish tendencies with the name calling instead of respecting ones opinion….keep ya head up sun

      • Im letting you know how stupid you sound calling yourself a king. Calling yourself a king is childish. Good talk, be careful out there its tough for a human.

      • David Smoke

i actually see no problem with him calling himself king if he is also saying that you are a king to and just not a regular old human lol .. I don’t see who the hell would get mad at that i could see you getting mad if he said your a regular old human and he is only the king then i would agree with you

      • yeah blah blah blah… i see black dudes call themselves kings all the time.. some even say all black people are kings, or they say we are descendents from kings and queens.. blah blah blah… makes me laugh.

      • David Smoke

lol homeboy didnt say he called himself king cause he is black.. so wtf are you talking about?

      • i see black people say that ish all the time… hes no different.

      • Troll_E_G

Clearly hE a bigot low key bigot tthat’s secretly obsessed with brothers….never knew thinking positive would b so negative

      • David Smoke

trust me brother i hear you.. i see exactly what you mean and that’s why i agree with you.

      • David Smoke

lol i dont call myself king but i understand what homeboy is saying

      • yeah i understand to, but its corny arrogant dooshbag behavior.

      • Troll_E_G

Stupid? Lol…sun u sound insecure because I think highly of myself n so should everyone else …does commanding respect intimidate u or something cause u sound like a true herb….the type that get mad because u can’t grasp the concept of something other than what society teaches u….lost people like u need to find yourself but if u joking…keep it coming…don’t get off till later

      • i sound insecure? im not the one that needs to call himself a king to feel better. lol see how that works. im so secure with myself i dont need an inflated label to call myself. we arent talking about the grasp of concepts or what society is teaching anyone, we talking about u thinking you are a king. lol dumbass

      • Troll_E_G

Why are white people always offended when brothers think highly of themselves? If u can’t relate so be it but u or anyone else not gonna address me with nigga….u sound angry lol for What Exactly?

      • Man, color got nothing to with it, arrogants dooshes are arrogant dooshes. point blank. iight nigga?

      • Troll_E_G

Arrogant would b me saying I’m a king n u a peasant…do u not understand the words You typed…..man u people are really obsessive when people don’t think like u…again grow up cause u looking real insecure, immature, n unintelligent

      • no arrogant is saying you are a king, because get this, you arent a king. i know its a hard concept to grasp. Keep trying tho…

      • Troll_E_G

N u know this how exactly?.====hurts your soul don’t it

      • Opposite Of Everyone

sorry to interject into your twos debate but if everyone’s a king then surely the value of the word king is somewhat diminished by it’s commonality?

And furthermore why do you think so highly of yourself? I’m sure you’re aware of how infintesimal you are compared to the universe, doesn’t that humble you?

      • Troll_E_G

Value is something that can’t be measured universally …what’s important to u may mean nothing to me n vice versa….we are all kings n queens…..u quick to point out b humble when that comes naturally lol….u guys r really lost n care to much about nothing lol

      • Opposite Of Everyone

by “you guys” I’m assuming you mean anyone who doesn’t agree with you… If we are all Kings and Queens then it’s hardly worth mentioning is it’s obviously nothing unusual.

      • God Body

It’s semantics. There are various definitions of what ‘KING’ means. The simplistic definition of the word ‘KING’ is ‘the one who rules’. ‘The ruler’. Troll E G is expressing that he RULES himself. There is no kings in Troll E G’s life other than himself. There are others who do look to white people or other people outside of themselves for rule. Charlie Kelly may be one of these people. But Troll E G believes Charlie Kelly can turn it around and become a true ‘KING’ unto himself one day.

Happy to clear that up for you all.

        Peace

      • Opposite Of Everyone

coming from someone named God Body, I don’t feel particular reassured by that definition I’m afriad…
        .

      • God Body

That’s ok with me. Your name says it all really.

I like all those artist so i can’t blame him.. Looking at what Nas likes in hip-hop im not surprised he likes those 4 mostly.

  • Pierre Elliott

IF BLACK RAPPERS AND EXECS AND PRODUCERS AND LABEL PEOPLE ACTUALLY MADE GOOD MUSIC AND DIDNT MAKE WACK MUSIC CHOICES WE WOULDNT BE HERE NOW TALKING ABOUT THIS—–

THE MAJORITY OF OUR PROBLEMS WE CREATE—AND THEN IT OPENS THE DOOR FOR THE BULLSHlT TO COME IN…

IM GETTING TIRED OF BLACK PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT SHlT THEY CONTROLLED IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND GET MAD WHEN DUMB SHlT TAKES OVER——

    • Troll_E_G

      We never controlled it

      • God Body

Yeah TRoll E G, we never controlled it. Back in the day NWA went platinum out the trunk of their cars. That’s when we (Easy E really) kind of controlled it. Then record execs jumped on the business model and and have faithfully emulated that one selling point ever since. Now we don’t control that.

By selling point I mean GANGSTA. At the time gangsta rap was but one facet of Hip Hop. It wasn’t the main thing about rap. NOW we have middle class white boys like Drake claiming to affiliated, we have police officers claiming and being affiliated to gangsta/gangsta rap.

We have a glut of record execs and sellout ditto headed me too rappers with no creative acumen all running to Hip Hop to claim their prize of riches and fame. It’s all BS. That’s not how it started out. Only shortsighted money grabbing corporatism got it to where it is today in the main stream. In the underground there are still plenty of great artist putting out creative and thoughtful material for us to all enjoy. Problem is too many ditto heads only judge their own tastes by whatever they see others doing and then follow. Really they’re following the allusion of success and money rather than anything artistic and expressive.

Lets be honest this is where Hip Hop is at. The nay sayers will chant this down and say I’m some old bitter dude and continue to big up the f****ries because that’s the trend right OK yeah I get it, I understand your delusion. It’s what you know. But just for one moment just ask yourself seriously where Hip Hop would be right now if these these things we complain about had not come to pass.

  • Polecat

Maybe Kendrick & j.Cole but that’s were it stops..get to know me better @ reverb nation/ Novacane 1

    • Frank

Does Drake rap good? Lmao yo I got no idea. I ain’t interested in no shape or form. But the OGs in the rap game always say they listening to him.

Nah I’m good tho. They can keep that. I guess if you put like Jays Magna Carter up against Coles or K on blast the bullshit will come to light. Can’t have that. He’s business man. Not a businessman. Lol.

  • Frank

You mfers. I waited to see my dude till last. All hyped n shit. And you show fcking 20 second bullshit video where he couches for Mac Miller. It took me longermto write this shit lol. Mfers.

  • johnblacksad

Real talk… I love Nas like your average hip hop head… but I see everybody pretendin not to see Nas added another L to his collection with that “Hip hop is dead” ‘movement’… hip hop ain’t never died and and it ain’t goin nowhere… now he talkin bout “it’s goin in a great direction”… only tryin not to appear like the old washed up rapper… tryin to take the Hov lane fcukin an givin propz to the youngin… Yeah he raps good but he never knew how to make the proper moves…. real talk!

Whatever happened to hip hop is dead? Confused azz Nas on some bullsh!t again…

But there is this tacit agreement that Nas should get a pass, so it’s whatever…

    • AllDay206

Hip Hop was shit when he released that so I don’t really blame him. I personally have loved hip hop my whole life and I really got to a point in the mid 2000’s where I thought I was done. I think the shit out now is much better than back then, just my opinion. It’s just a statement he was trying to make,

  • Of course he signs those faggot clowns he’s the most overrated boring rapper to grip the mic….fucking rhyming robot ….clown
