(AllHipHop News) Last night, New York City’s Irving Plaza, delivered a truly memorable experience. Dom Kennedy’s “Get Home Safely” tour persuaded his supporters to shirk the freezing temperature and attend the show. The organic showmanship and honest delivery of, Skeme, fellow Left-coast rapper, warmed up the crowd.

Once Dom Kennedy took the stage; he completely controlled the crowd. An enlivened audience readily spit lyrics while DK traveled through his growing discography. The appreciative atmosphere truly erupted when surprise guest, Kendrick Lamar, took the stage to congratulate his contemporary.

Kendrick attests, “These n*ggas been rocking with me since day one; just young niggas on the grind. So to see this motherf*cking crowd—being that he here in New York—getting this New York motherf*cking love; we’re straight from the West coast. We love that sh*t! … Salute, putting out the best motherf*cking project yet out of his collection, Get Home Safely; a classic!”

Kendrick Lamar a real ass n*gga! I think he officially has the crown right now. He snatched that sh*t off Drake’s head like,
“Sit yo b*tch ass down!” Hahahahaha…… I’m feeling this new school of hip hop artists right now.

  • Black Jay

    Man…. I’m about to start a war….. But what the hell….. I feel like it….

That movement on the West Coast is so dope right now. They doing what the East Coast is supposed to be doing. But things move in cycles. I’m sure The East Coast will get it in a few years. But right now, THE WEST COAST TOOK THAT SH*T!!!!

This ain’t no coastal beef so please don’t start. But the WEST got this joint right now.

    PS….. And I’m a East Coast N*gga saying this……

    • cromthelaughinggod7

I have to agree! I am not mad at all. He keeps hiphop alive! Son is dope! I love the new young cats and their music is just hiphop.

    • 2012Industry1

      I Agree….WE TOOK THAT SHIT…….LMFAO!!!!!

    • bigwig

The West Coast took that crown years ago. Cali has been putting out the freshest music easily since the mid-2000s. Blu & Exile, Fashawn, Odd Future, TiRon & Ayomari, TDE, Pac Div, Thurz, Evidence, Ta’Raach, the list goes on. Die hard NY fan, but the West has been killing everyone for years.

      • Black Jay

I don’t know about years ago. I don’t cosign that. The South has been running sh*t for a hot minute. But now it’s West Coast for sure like concrete bricks. Those dudes made the transition from underground to a global movement. HIP HOP IS IN THE WEST RIGHT NOW. And this ain’t on no funk sh*t or gangsta sh*t. THIS IS REAL HIP HOP SH*T!!!!!! They holdin’ that sh*t right now.

      • royalthrone

I second that west got it south is to swag flashy now

    • Celz

Niccas been spittin like this since Souls of Mischief and Tha Liks. The record companies just liked pimpin out that Gang Bangin lifestyle. A majority of actual Cali rappers always been on some emcee shyt, (Ras Kass, Ahmad) but the label money and drug money keep puttin gang bang music out first. After Nipsey and Glasses Malone failed to gain as much commercial traction as The Game and the whole Jerk movement blew up the labels were forced to open doors.

Troy Ave. doin his thing though he’s what J-Hood shoulda been lol

The hottest movement to ever come out of the west was that “GOOD LYFE” movement that produced Jurassic 5, Madussa, Volume Ten, and a bunch of others!!!

    • BluBlack

Stop making this who got this or that. TDE IS HOT, BUT THEY ARE NOT BETTER than SH ! Hands down, one group or artist can’t claim they got it by one hot group. U got to have GROUPS OR A FEW MCS TO SAY THEY GOT IT ! SORRY BUT UR SPEEDING DUDE.SLOW DOWN…..

      • Black Jay

Okay…. You’re contradicting yourself dude. YOU need to slow down. First you make a statement telling me,
“Stop Making this who got this or that.”
Then in the next sentence you say,

Ummmmm….. What was your point? You did the very thing you were accusing me of doing. Pump your brakes dude. Use basic logic.

Regardless of what you say, the west has it right now. And before you bring up some weak sh*t talking about “Why does it always have to be a competition”, this is hip hop. It’s all about who is better than the next man. Do your history dude. It started on some battling sh*t.

I was born and raised on The East Coast. And I’m sad to say, it’s a few artists. But for the most part, The East Coast isn’t doing it. The West Coast is straight holding it. But it’s all a cycle. I’m sure the East will get it back one day. But they f*cked up by letting the crown go to New Orleans with Wayne, and then to Canada with Drake. But Kendrick Lamar straight took that joint off of Drake’s scalp. So yeah, in every way. HIP HOP IS IN CALIFORNIA. Like it or not.

      • BluBlack

NOW U FUCKED UP, U SAID THE CROWN WENT TO NEW ORLEANS ? For 1 lil wayne, when he was hot got his whole style from JAY Z, so when did he have the crown ? and Drake sounds like a better lil wayne so really the ORIGINATOR is the one who keeps the crown. 2 KD is a good rappers not great but good. Great is RASS CASS, great is Casual,Great is Krupt, great is (R.I.P) MAC DRE, thats just a few and their from the WEST COAST.Ssee I know who’s really hot out there, so like I said, Kendrick Lamar crews is hot but they can’t beat SH, not happening !

  • Nabs

Not only did he make this show he went to the Garden and performed with J.cole last night too

  • Montezuma1

The internet is hilarious. It’s so obvious when interns and paid shills attempt to direct the message board. The west isn’t taking anything. Kendrick is winning. God bless him. YMCMB’s success doesn’t mean New Orleans is winning. This “gang” mentality is so lame. It’s not us against them. It’s good music against everything. Regional allegiance as a marketing scheme was popularized by the west. Hammer, Death Row, Pac, etc. Don’t resurrect it. Let’s try a novel concept. Let’s just support good rap or music we like no matter where it comes from. The ignorance of separation has damn near destroyed the genre. Maybe it’s fitting an artist from the West can reverse a trend that began there. Do your thing Kendrick. Do it for Hip Hop.

    • Black Jay

No disrespect to you dude, but THIS IS HIP HOP! The very nature of the art is competing. It ain’t on no gangsta sh*t. This is the nature of the art form. Competition. This ain’t Lou Rawls versus Johnny Gill. This ain’t R&B. Ain’t nobody on this thread mentioned a gun. This ain’t no thug sh*t. So your injection of violence or n*ggas on some ignorant sh*t is offensive . And no… Don’t nobody intern for nobody. Most of these dudes on this board follow because they are fans of the culture. Miss me with that nonsense.

      • Montezuma1

There’s no mention of violence in my post. I said much about the separatism and regionalism which by it’s nature is “gang” mentality. I’m all for competition. Right now Kendrick is #1 not the West. The competition is with every other rapper trying to take his spot regardless of where they’re from. I’m a little lost with your argument. You take me out of context and then counter your own interpretation of what I said. Might as well debate yourself. lol

    • Spirit Equality

“Regional allegiance as a marketing scheme was popularized by the west” <— TOTAL FABRICATION.

      "South Bronx"? New York artist.

      "The Bridge"? New York artist.

"The Sun Rises In The East"? New York artist

"When the East is in the house, oh my God, Danger"? New York artist

In fact, the first song to dis an entire city was also put out by a New York artist: Tim Dog's "F–k Compton" (which still makes no g-ddamn sense to this day)

The East Coast totally started the East/West nonsense. Everything the West did was in response to getting constantly overlooked, clowned and/or disrespected. Go look at how they treated Snoop at the Source Awards back in 94, a guy who gave nothing but love and respect to the East for his whole career. SMH.

The South Bronx was a message to MC Shan from KRS. I can rebut the rest of your argument but I won’t. You’re bitter for your own reasons. People like you have to realize just because you can’t make it doesn’t mean there’s a conspiracy against you it can also mean you wasn’t good enough.

Ice T and Ice Cube both got love from NY before Deathrow existed. The attempt to turn everything into a us against them ploy is typical of people who lack the merit to get where they’re trying to go on their own. As a failed entertainment attorney you’ve allowed your failure and irrelevance to taint your perception. Because you couldn’t secure deals for your clients doesn’t mean NY hated or clowned them. It means they just weren’t good enough. Is NY the reason the mother of your daughter left you? No. She left you because you’re a failure. Is NY the reason why you ran for office and no one voted for you? No. You didn’t get elected because like everything else you are detached from reality. You’re simply a bitter man projecting your frustration everywhere but where it belongs. You’re a NY hater but NY isn’t the reason for your failures you are. With all your education you’re on a message board inciting division among black folk. Reiterating a useless self destructive mindset. Grow up ni99a. You’re way too old for this. Own your failures and correct them. Stop passing the buck.

      • Celz

Sounds like you can use a healthy dose of your own advice my friend

      • Montezuma1

In other breaking news water is wet and grass is green. Sometimes it’s better to be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt. That advice is for you. I happen to know that dude and he’s a real lame. Mind your business.

      • Celz

If you know him in real life and that’s how you feel in real life; then maybe you should tell him real life. Gossiping online about unrelated shyt is what’s lame, bringin a niccas daughter into this shyt. Fuccin pathetic bro and you know it too..

      • Montezuma1

Lmao. I’m not here for your approval. Actually I don’t even address anyone unless they address me. Sometimes it’s better to leave well enough alone. What I did wasn’t gossip it was letting a e-azzhole know his slip was showing. Not just here but in real life. All I did was speak facts. That’s always a bad thing in cyber space where the motto is “be all you can be.” Who do I think I am coming in here and making suckers remember who they are? lmao

    • Celz

That’s the point the California lifestyle is so far removed from New York and the East Coast in general it’s dope to get love out there. Just the same as when the hottest East Coast artists come out here and get love they always say the same thing. My niccas is straight West Coastin but we banged everything from Mac Dre to Scarface and Cormega to Big L. Shyt niccas was bangin Eminem when the only album he had out was Infinite.

The West winning they Together grinding putting on shouts out to la

  • Montezuma1

All of nothing over part of something. Petty ni99a thinking. For all of you claiming victory for the West I guess Macklemore don’t count. lmao According to the numbers and the award committees you value he’s the King of not just the West but rap at the moment. lmao. The sooner you fools realize a house divided cannot prosper the sooner YOUR “#1” will have true value. Reading this board and the level of thinking it showcases makes it so apparent why as a people we stay losing. Too busy competing against each other to overcome any real opposition. Carry on peons.
