Dame Dash: Jay Z and I Could Make Some Money Together With Reasonable Doubt Anniversary

(AllHipHop News) Dame Dash does not want to bring back Roc-a-Fella Records, but he would not mind making some more money off of its history. Yesterday (June 25th), Dame Dash hinted that he would be willing to work with his old friend Jay Z for the 20th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt.

Jay Z’s debut album was released on June 25th, 1996 and the ownership of the album’s masters were split between Dash, Jay Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke. On the 18th anniversary, Dash went to his personal Instagram account to voice his interest in working with Jay Z on the 20th anniversary in 2016:

Me and jay still own this together we might have to do a reasonable tour…maybe for the 20th anniversary…that way we could all make some money… I don’t see why he wouldn’t…might have to holla #freebiggs

While Dame claims that he owns the rights to Reasonable Doubt with Jay Z that will soon change. When Jay Z became President of Def Jam in 2004, a 10 year hold on his masters was placed that will expire at the end of this year. Jay Z will retain full ownership of his masters and publishing rights. Last year signed a deal with Warner/Chappelle Music to have them help administer the copyrights for Jay Z and other Roc Nation artists.

Doesn’t jay z symbolize everything Dame is speaking out against?!?!? Doing deals with major corporations and dealing with “culture vultures”???

    • Ipullcards

That’s the whole reason the empire fell. Jay went with the vultures and damn went back to the pigeons.. Gotta pick your poisons well

“Too much flossing, too much Sam Rothstiene” jay z

^^^^ I really believe that’s why jay split from Dame. Biggs got caught in the middle of that imo….. good analogy though.

Broke living in a beach house in Malibu and still flying private jets. I wouldn’t mind being that type of broke.

Reasonable doubt was not part of the Def Jam umbrella deal, that’s why Jay took the Roc name, because Dame and Biggs wouldn’t release Reasonable to him.. poor editing again..(The name is mine, I ll take blame for that).. Reasonable Doubt, it co owned my the 3(dame, biggs, Jay)

Exactly reasonable doubt released under Priority/Rocafella this album has nothing to do with def jam whatsoever.

    • Da Ledgendary

Dame is not broke, lol. He’s still lives far better than the average joe and owns several successful businesses.

      • Allen Epps

Dame was well above average low millionaires at one point now he above niggas who work for Mta bus drivers or sanitation workers but baby and slim laughing at dame even cash money had a dry period and still rose back to the top he got small business that poppington nobody buying it stop it 5 he has no control of cutting checks he hates it now he getting crumbs left behind by Jay-Z who out business performed him as a rapper .dame a loser who got lost in fame and didn’t do his role with business and put in no music work just ran his mouth and stole money from off the top once def jam cut the check

  3. RealSpit

This nigga said, “Me and jay still own this together we might have to do a reasonable tour” Dame did you rap or sing on half of the reasonable doubt album?? This nigga needs Jay to eat and sounds sad and desperate. Let it go my nig because jay let go a long time ago.

    • BigHomie337

Lol. U wrote exactly what I was bout to write. This nigga said we can go on tour. Night Dont rap, sing, beat box, or break dance, but go say we can go on your together. Smh. That nigga want a check.

  4. Clondyke Classic

Dame don’t do it to yaself cuh. You look’n thirsty as hell my nigga. Why would Jay go on tour with you when he can do another WTT with Ye and do a hunned million dollar tour? He on a hunned million dollar tour right now lol

  5. Killuminati

dame i see that you finally figured out that all this drama and “culture vulture” shit is not gonna make you no money….so now you try a different route lol

  6. Mr007

Keep saying “they made hov” made hov say ok so….make another hov……now fast forward 20yrs and ask the guy to go on a unneeded tour so “we” can make money

It’s sad but Dash is all alone with that thought. Jay-Z is not thinking about bringing the gang back together. They’re not in the same place anymore. Jay-Z has moved on so Dash should too.

  8. Mac7504

Wasn’t the nigga just talking shit about J not to long ago (taking shots)? LOL I always felt Dame got shafted but it’s almost like this foo is beggin.Ha

People dont give Dame Dash enough credit for kick starting Jay Zs career. Jay Z had been in the game for a decade, with no success. Dame took him to the next level, which allowed him to go on and so forth. So even though everyone loves Jay Z you can’t re write history.

    • Celz

Jay wasn’t in the game for a decade with no success stop it.. Freestylin in the park does not equal being in the game… Dame was instrumental and that is Dame’s album to on the real..

As for people saying hes looking thirsty, maybe hes just proud of a classic that they made together, and sees it as a way to patch up a pointless beef, with an old friend. He mentioned it on Twitter, its not like he held a press conference. Yall took it and ran with it. Its just twitter. A random thought, thats 160 characters or less.

Irrespective of what Dame says in public, he needs the money more than Jay. When they were a team they fed off each other, Dame helped Jay and Jay helped Dame unfortunately Dame made a few not so wise business decisions and lost money as a result.

Dame has had to start all over and I hope he gets his head above water.

In terms of a Jay Dame partnership, I really can’t see Jay working with Dash. Dame has still got that bad for business ego. Jay has advanced over the years and I’m sure he made a few bad business decisions too but knew when to wind up and quit then chill and pursue something else.

I wish the bro well and I hope Dame stops giving all these interviews to the public it might sound right to some but to a business person things don’t add up.

Did y’all read the article?? Nevermind that jay is on a 100mil tour right now: dame says he still owns part of reasonable doubt, which is true, but only until the end of the year. After that it’s a 100% hov’s. So jay better wait until the end of the year until he tries to make money of it. Anythung else would be charity. So dame is indeed once again looking thirsty as hell.

  13. Poseidon

You can sense the solitude and isolation emanating from Dame right now. I picture him in a dark room looking out the window, desperately grasping at straws while Gary Jules’ song “Mad World” is playing in the background. Lol smh….

Besides, I don’t think he understands that Jay will be the sole owner of Reasonable Doubt by the 20th anniversary. Maybe the math didn’t kick in?

Dame, I got a good feeling Beyonce will be the hype man singing choruses on that tour buddy. Sad but true…
