Fashawn Signs With Nas' Mass Appeal Records, Announces Album Release Date (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The ink is dry and the cynicism has settled, Fashawn is officially signed to Nas’ imprint Mass Appeal Records. During a recent interview with VladTV, the Fresno State MC explains how he was ready to give up on rap before signing with Nas, tells  rappers what to stop rapping about and announces his release date.

In a press release announcing the signing, Nas stated that Fashawn is one of the most underrated MC’s and “the world is gonna know soon”. According to Fashawn, he was underrating himself and the entire future of Hip Hop before getting the infamous “Nas Call”:

Before this whole Nas thing happened, I was really discouraged with rap. I was not excited about the future of Hip Hop. I was doing other things. But, getting the call from Nas just lit the fire again. Really just got me ready to kill everything in my path.

Fashawn’s debut album Boy Meets World was released back in October 2009. He announced that the follow up, The Ecology will be released on September 30th and uses that opportunity to give rappers help on changing their style:

This is what I want to tell rappers to do.I want to tell them t0 stop rapping about four thigns: money, weed, b*tches and clothes. Stop rapping about that and really go inside. Really talk to society. Not just talk about society but talk to them.

Yea I’m open to anyone who has good music. But even some of these artists I did start to listen too like Mac miller , meek , or French tend to change up once they get a buzz…. Mac got all drugged up and his music sounds like elevator music now….and French when he was underground was good…. Meek just went straight into money shit after dream chasers 2

Good for him. He been nice, and overlooked. He came out to Sac, CA and rocked a show for my boys bday last year, just on GP. Mad coo dude.

  • water_ur_seeds

Interesting signing, his ‘Boys meets world’ album was mad dope…

He kinda got left behind with the newer Westcoast artists like Kendrick coming through, even though hes still fairly new TBH…

Look forward to hearing his next project…

Boy Meets World was one of the best projects from 2009.
That happened just when too many bullsh1t rappers were getting popular then Fashawn put out some average tracks trying to “fit this new era of rap”.

    Good looking!

  • Is this like Ill Will records west or something totally different? (being sarcastic)
