Jeezy Speaks On Issues With Freddie Gibbs

(AllHipHop News) At one point Freddie Gibbs was a standout member of Young Jeezy’s CTE World label, but the two rappers parted ways in 2012.

Gibbs has not been shy about addressing his issues with the Atlanta-based rapper through diss tracks, tweets, and interviews. Now Jeezy is speaking out on the matter.

During a discussion with Elliott Wilson, Jeezy explains he had no ill will towards Gibbs, but the financial situation would not allow him to continue to fund the Indiana emcee’s career.

Jeezy said:

I put him on a song with Eminem. I put him on a song with T.I. I put him on numerous mixtapes that I had. I took him on tour. Took him around the world. I spent money on videos that he didn’t use cause he didn’t like them, and it wasn’t his money.

So at the end of the day, my whole thing was to him was ‘I took you to every label in the game. They don’t wanna sign you. I don’t have no reason—I love you. You know what I’m saying? I think your music is dope, but they don’t want to sign you.’ So at the end of the day, when I called him up I was like, ‘Yo, I can’t really spend my money on you. I got family, other shit I gotta take care of. So, I’ll help you all I can, but I can’t fund it anymore.’

Cool. Conversation went well. We got off the conversation it was straight love. I hear diss records. What I’m supposed to do? I’m not replying to that. N**a, we getting money. YG just sold a million f**king singles. At the end of the day, we all tried. It didn’t work. That shit happens in business all the time…

I still ain’t surprised, cause I don’t give a f**k. I’m still getting money. I’m still on top. You’re not gonna knock that. And I’m still having success around me, but when you listen and good things happen – we celebrate like with YG.

  • Quintin Williams

The interviewer really needs to stop all that laughing….SO ANNOYING

    • Brindle

YES! it was annoying me too, like that nikka in the car that won’t let their be no silence

  • Slick Blak

Real shit Jeezy at the end of the day any up coming artist should appreciate that. I mean Boss spending his money on your videos and you cutting style? FOH put them joints out I don’t care how the video look you up and coming so you take all the assist you can….don’t be a fkn DIVA. If Jeezy taking you to labels and they not signing you then you got to go indie and just hustle yourself. I’m pretty sure Jeezy and others would have jumped on singles you wanted.

    • Ipullcards

Word! He got to comfortable. Esp your counterpart or label mate YG just sold a million singles? He losing gibbs

  • Brindle

I never knew the details, I like Gibbs, but I feel Jeezy on that one… its only so much you can do

    • Ipullcards

Yea if they don’t wanna sign u than that’s that. Don’t take me around the world tours etc and think I won’t come out with something.. Freddy Gibbs needs to go back to the drawing board

    • Myleage

this happens all the time behind the scenes but most people dont know about it and new artists have to learn it. Gibbs didnt know the politics Jeezy went through being the CEO of the label so they were on 2 different pages

      • Celz

Seen it happen over and over.. The music game is a cold bitkh..

  • Eli Pinilla

Gibbs shoulda never signed with jeezy. It was never gonna work. People like jeezy and ti need artist that are easy to market. Yg is easy to sell. So is iggy azalea. I feel where jeezy comin from though. 2 sides to every story…..gibbs tore him to shreads. piñata is aoty and would’ve never been released under a major. Piñata has also sold close to as much as yg independently. So they all doing they thing…..and jeezy could never respond lyrically to gibbs. He knows that.

    • trilltalk1

nah fam pinata has not sold a million singles, not even close. but i respect you being a die hard GIBBS fan.

      • Eli Pinilla

Piñata is an album not a single. Piñata has sold close to as much as yg album “my krazy life”. Independently too….Yg did a million singles, not a million albums…..I am I am

      • trilltalk1

my bag playboy, you might be right about that. album sales are so fucked these days an indie can sale just as much as a major. but that million singles put him leaps and bounds ahead of GIBBS.

      • Eli Pinilla

Yea man. Look at future. He can sell a million singles with every single he drops but his albums can’t do 100k if he put all them songs on one album. And piñata doesn’t have to sell as much as my krazy life to get the same return….but those million singles matter when talkin about success so you right about yg being more successful sales and commercial wise.

      • I_AM_Houston

Id care less about an album if I can still make good money selling singles. Thats way cheaper than putting out an album anway.

      • Eli Pinilla

It’s cheaper but you make less money. Future isn’t just putting out songs as singles. Their connected to the album. The single sells the album. But when you make songs specifically for radio, you end up selling a lot of singles, which doesn’t amount to much $, and sell little albums, which could make a Killin if it’s good. The album is gonna sell 15 songs as one purchase for $10 instead of one song out of 15 for 1.29.

      • SursumAd Summum

Artists make money off of shows these days anyway, rather than album sales… and singles are what get shows booked.

      • Eli Pinilla

Singles get you noticed. But you can’t do one song. What you gonna get paid to perform one song?? Every single is attached to a body of work. Look at all the young boys gettin money doing shows, it’s always 1 or 2 hot singles attached to a mixtapes or album….Nggz would get paid like 500 to perform one song. Even Trinidad james had all gold everything off his mixtape. Trust, you can get booked off of one song, but you won’t make any real money off of it.

    • acb87

lol you say that now then why did iggy and yg take nearly half a decade after getting signed to even get a official single out on the major label the signed to? why did interscope the king of selling white rappers drop iggy? gibbs was looking for a handout and not putting in the work need to get himself a deal

      • Eli Pinilla

So you ain’t read the article that said clear MADE the stations play her song 150 times per station?!?!? So yg and iggy aren’t single rappers?!?!? I mean, at least my krazy life is a good album, but they will do what they have to to sell records.they didn’t do good on they own cuz they needed the cosign and direction. Yg’s singles feat jeezy, drake, and rich homie. Iggy shit was written by ti over a dj mustard beat. Gibbs ain’t doin a track with drake over a mike will made it beat. Jeezy said it himself, yg was willing to do the things gibbs wasnt…..and if you really wanna be technical, isn’t cte the label?!?! Isn’t cte the one doing the signing? Gibbs is independent with his own shit and his album is considered album of the year by many. Cte woulda never put that out cuz it has no singles or any commercial cuts on it. But it still sold respectable and he makes more money off the album than yg does off his…..don’t get offended homie. Your favorite rappers still making money, my opinion isn’t gonna change that

    • I tried listening to that piñata cd but could not stomach it…my honest opinion. ..I tried but just couldn’t get into it.

      • ll3acdafukup

Bruh you didn’t like “Knicks” or “Broken ft. Scarface”..? stand out tracks to me but I like Gibbs he just need to work on his delivery more

      • andone

as u mentioned “stand out”… the rest was average at best, only solid project from egghead is that BFK… even @eli pinilla won’t front on that!

      • Eli Pinilla

I’m frontin extra hard on that dog lol I think piñata is aoty so far. Real, thuggin, deeper, shitsville, higher. It’s too many stand outs on that…..bfk, cold day in hell, piñata, esgn and str8 killah. Those are his best bodies of work. The rest have stand outs but aren’t good overall imo

      • andone

no shade man jus trying to keep it 100 in here… and yes each project has a least a few bangers but the only one that can get fully played without gettin boring or skipin tracks on is that B.F.K… real spill been checkin for dude since u first put me on, gave ALL his material a listen off that co-sign!

      • Eli Pinilla

It’s all good homie. Everybody got they taste. I’m also a big time krit fan and know people who don’t like him to much. And I know people who love asap rocky and I can’t get jiggy with that shit lol

      • I fuk wit krit.

      • ll3acdafukup

I have to say ASAP Rocky got bars and them as a collective whole go pretty hard as well

I wrote this shit in business class, give me jet lag
This for years of oppressions and the set backs
This for chinks, niggas, jews and the wet backs
Crackers towel heads and I can’t forget the les, drags
This is Huey Newton with the uzi shooting
The trill Martin Luther fin to spark the ruger
Malcolm X’s muslim army marching to ya block
Bring the choppa to your preacher’s screaming hallejuehah!

Weird shit and all the boy got bars

      • Imma keep it real I didn’t make it all the way thru.

      • Eli Pinilla

To each his own homie….I listen to it all the time. I don’t think a better album has come out this year.

      • I didn’t make it all the way thru. Imma give him another listen but u know how it go.

  • trilltalk1

there is always two sides to a story, now we heard his.

  • jacksjus

That’s was a surprisingly good response from Jeezy. I see he has matured. Good shit right there.

  • om3n78

yg….this nigga said a single………what about the other 15 singles he got out and that trash azz cd ? this nigga said a single

    • Celz

He’s eatin off YG.. They all eatin regardless tho.. YG puts out bangers.. He sound a lil slow in interviews and his music ain’t my taste. But the only rapper who gets more love in the streets in Cali is Kendrick and they pretty much neck and neck.. YG is a single rapper and he’s doing just that..

      • Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin’

He’s scared to death to lose Mustard tho, I know they got Pushaz Ink but still. Without those beats he would be nowhere.

      • whatupdoe

No different from a nigga like 2 chainz. Some rappers have a niche for selecting good beats.

  • IROC

Jeezy did what he could for this guy

  • IceBergSlim

This was a good article and Jeezy said it right..He is showing growth get that money pimp

  • jacksjus

The one thing off about Jeezy’s response was the comment that he paid for videos (plural form) that never came out because Gibbs didn’t like it. WTF does that even mean and if he turned one down after you paid for it, why would you even try paying for antoher? Jeezy speaks about wasting money on this dude with no consequence as if he were one of his side pieces. I’ll be damned if I spend stacks on an ungrateful mofo.
