(AllHipHop News) Drake continues to earn distinction among his peers. With the recent release of “Summer Sixteen” the Toronto-MC lands in the company of The Notorious B.I.G, as reported by Billboard. The smash debuted at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Following the late ’50’s inception of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart only 13 songs have debuted at No. 1. In the history of the chart, in its first week, only two other artists — Rihanna and Biggie — have had more than one track snatch the top slot. Previously the Rihanna collab, “Work” reigned atop the chart.

During the Golden Era, first B.I.G.’s “One More Chance,” and later “Hypnotize” earned the No. 1 slot. Given Drake’s solid work-ethic, and his enduring popularity, by the end of this year Drake may be the sole record holder.

      • Black Adam

Thats how thorough BIG was on the mic. Respect all around.

Matching and comparing are two completely different things.

Music is consumed a lot quicker now than it was back in the 90s. 30 years from now there will be another Drake who will top his accomplishments

Don’t ever in your rabid ass minds put this guys name in the same sentence as Biggie…. That kind of shit carries the same kind of Felony as Murder.

  • ZUBU

Biggie and Drake don’t belong in the same sentence……..
Even though Drake is nice in his lane, but B.I.G…… Naw, Naw………

  • Nightmare

This is not about comparisons. Its about the numbers.✌🏾️

  • josh

I’d give up every artist in rap now to have B.I.G back

  • Sean Power

it take lot less sale get number one than did back in biggie era but good for the kid from canada

    • SMOKE

It’s actually a lot harder…you couldn’t download back in the day for free. people who buy now a days are real fans or just don’t know how to work the internet properly

      • but the bar is being lowered thanks to the RIAA, it’s being consumed at a higher rate, and the net is accessible virtually EVERYWHERE now, so although sales are down, that just means the measuring stick is being lowered. it’s like when a pro team with a losing record makes the playoff.

      • But please don’t forget about the bootlegs. They were the illegal downloads of their day.

  • Markus

Records broken in this era seem more empty considering the garbage that’s doing it. But Aubrey is popular. But B.I.G. popular?

That notorious Tuna sandwich video is epic and still on youtube.

    Google :

Drake tuna sandwich. It will show you how he treats his mother and how he whines to people. Real niggas eat the food their mom bought or prepared and say ‘thank you’ mom…

You can give the Corn-adian Heartthrob 15 Billboard awards, 50 Grammys, a Nobel Peace Prize, it doesn’t matter. This dude will always be MEDIOCRE AS FVCK.

Look, if you serve an inmate a slab of crappy meatloaf everyday, he’ll hate, grow to expect it, and eventually come around to liking it. Drake is that slab of crappy meatloaf, served on the radio.
