The roundtable conversation is returning to television on Friday, December 16 on MTV2.

Joe Budden, Nick Cannon, Charlamagne Tha God, Taxstone, and other industry insiders were part of the eight-person panel discussion.

Previously, the show attempted to determine the 10 most important Hip Hop acts of each year from 2007 – 2012.

Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Jay Z, Eminem, Rick Ross, and Kendrick Lamar were each named the #1 emcee throughout the life of the “Hottest MCs In The Game” series.

Some of the contenders for 2016 will likely be Drake, Chance The Rapper, Kanye West, and Future.

The artist sitting in the 10th spot this year will be announced on MTV2’s website and social media outlets on December 12.

Three more selections will be revealed throughout that week with the top 6 finalists disclosed on 12/16.

How can you be a MC when you not write your own sh*t?? Thats why people laughing about hip hop these days. BET Awards even had drake and Kanye nominated for Best Lyricist. SMMFH

Did anyone else notice they said Future? Really? they might as well just say who sells the most, or is the most crossover/pop. Not who is a hot emcee it means different things to me

future has earned his spot bro, and imo dude is an emcee its just that we are so used to normalcy that his sound is hard to adjust our ear and appreciate the art!

I think he has his lane and is definitely making his $, but I would never think of him as “one of the hottest MCs in the game.” I think the meaning of an MC has just changed throughout the years, and its not like its personal i have some future on my ipod, but i dont think Ross should be mentioned either. An MC to me was someone well balance, could do it all, club tracks, street tracks, but give you substance music also, and never really has a bad song. Something like a Nas or Jay, but those type of artist are scarce.

man as much as i dont care for ricky i will say he has displayed all those you just listed same as future, the difference is future is the true creator of his own sound that only can be imitated, thats as real as it gets bruh!

      • JerZeBoy

ross has stepped up his game, and i am a fan, but please name me some substance tracks he has done to help encourage the youth, as say Nas has.

      • andone

i cant because i completely despise ricky, but march madness by future should fit the bill!

I can’t believe these brands keep aligning themselves with that Taxstone scrub, even after that Irving Plaza incident. One of these days someone will get their brains blown out over the incident and folks will be wondering why “innocents” got dealt with. #freekanye
