Indianapolis Colts Player Josh McNary Has Been Charged With Rape

THE LINEBACKER DENIES THE RAPE ALLEGATIONS BUT TURNED HIMSELF IN JUST DAYS BEFORE HIS TEAM PLAYS IN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Just days before their AFC Championship game, Indianapolis Colts player Josh McNary has been reportedly charged with rape, criminal confinement with bodily injury and battery resulting in bodily injury.

A 29-year-old woman accused an unknown man of sexually assaulting her on Dec. 1st. Police officials determined that McNary was a suspect after investigating a cell phone the woman said she took from her attacker’s apartment.

The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, picked McNary out of a lineup of photos and said he looked familiar but could not say he was the culprit for sure. She claims that she and her attacker got into a physical altercation where she scratched his face, back, neck and shoulders before she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

McNary’s lawyer, Ed Schrager, said that he denies the allegations but turned himself in to law enforcement officials in a “respectful and peaceful manner.”

“The charges and affidavit publicly disseminated on Wednesday afternoon are not evidence of wrong doing but simply one side’s story,” Schrager said in a statement. “Joshua has full and confidence in the American way, including its justice system, which he pledged to protect and defend as a West Point graduate and lieutenant in the United States Army.”

When McNary’s home was investigated by police, he reportedly told them “I know why you’re here” and had evidence of his own preserved for the police.

The Colts have also issued a statement saying they cannot give their thoughts on the situation due to not knowing many details.

“Unfortunately that’s the limit of our knowledge,” said the team, who have a 13-5 standing. “At this time we are very concerned and trying to find out what the relevant facts are, but we have insufficient information to venture any opinion. As we learn more we will make appropriate updates.”

The Indianapolis Colts play the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, Jan. 19th.
