‘Power’ Star Rotimi Talks T.I. Offering Him A Record Deal With Grand Hustle

THE NEW JERSEY NATIVE ALSO EXPLAINS SIGNING WITH 50 CENT

(AllHipHop News) Rotimi Akinosho is probably best known for playing Dre on the popular Starz series Power.

However, the New Jersey native is also a music artist.

Rotimi recently stopped by This Is 50 for an interview.

The conversation included him discussing nearly signing a record deal with T.I.’s Southern Hip Hop powerhouse.

“Tip offered me a deal with Grand Hustle [in] 2013,” revealed Rotimi. “Musically, Tip was the first to offer something.”

He added, “I personally wasn’t ready musically for me to do a situation. I didn’t want to make a fool out of myself.”

They originally connected during the filming of Starz’s Boss, and Rotimi eventually served as the lead model of Tip’s AKOO Clothing line.

In 2015, Rotimi decided to sign with Power executive producer 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records.

“I’m a loyal guy and the fact that he really presented me with a situation that made sense for me,” said Rotimi about teaming with 50. “And he’s also a mogul, a brilliant mind.”

The 28-year-old multi-talented performer tapped both T.I. and 50 Cent for his “Nobody” single.

“We just shot the ‘Nobody’ video. That was the first time they ever worked together,” Rotimi stated.
