Marvin Gaye’s Son Speaks On Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” Lawsuit

Marvin Gaye III Says Robin Thicke Clearly Got His Inspiration From His Father

(AllHipHop News) Last week Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, and Clifford “T.I.” Harris filed a lawsuit against the family of the late soul singer Marvin Gaye. The suit was an attempt by the trio to prevent the Gaye family from suing them first over the mega hit “Blurred Lines” which the Gayes say was blatantly inspired by Marvin’s music.

“There’s a way to do business and a way not to do business, and we’re not happy with the way he went about doing the business,” Marvin Gaye III told TMZ. “Let alone he’s suing us over something where he clearly got his inspiration from at the least.”

In the interview Marvin III says that he currently suffering from kidney failure and Thicke’s lawsuit is causing duress on him and his entire family. He also mentions that this legal matter is taking away time for him to promote his own music project, but felt he needed to step up and defend the legacy of his father.

“If you listen to the music, I’m sure anyone will see the similarities between what my father does and what Robin Thicke has been trying to do,” said Gaye.

Gaye would not confirm whether he or any other family member is planning to sue Thicke over “Blurred Lines,” but he did reveal he has been speaking with his lawyer about the situation.
