50 Cent Brings Holiday Joy To Those In Need With Turkey Drive

Rap star 50 Cent put his G-Unity Foundation to work over the weekend to help the hungry in his native borough of Queens, New York.

50 Cent is usually in the news for one of two reasons: making major moves or trolling.

This time, he is on our radar for an outstanding act of charity. The rapper turned television and film executive has brought holiday joy to families in need a few days before the nation celebrates Thanksgiving.

He took to Instagram to announce the giveback saying, “South Side we out side today 1 pm Happy Holidays Branson lifestyle. 💣#bransoncognac

Sponsored by the G-Unity Foundation and Bellator MMA, Fif, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, hosted “Turkey Drive,” a turkey giveaway on Saturday, November 21st at the Church of God In Christ Jesus Apostles In Faith in Jamaica, NY 11433.

This year, in particular, acts like this are especially important. With unemployment at an all-time high due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, many New Yorkers are facing record levels of food insecurity.

According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, 54 million Americans will suffer from some sort of coronavirus-related economic crisis that has manifested in a lack of basic food needs.

The organization did a “Map the Meal Gap” interactive study that revealed that in Queens alone there are 228,660 people who were considered food insecure pre-pandemic, making that number leap substantially during the last eight months.

Kathryn Strickland, Feeding America’s chief network officer noted, “Our members are reporting that many of the people they’re serving have never sought food assistance before .”

“Some people are reporting that people who formerly donated to food banks are now seeking assistance,” she continued.

This adds to why acts like this done by those in a position to do good like 50 are so important. Hats off to him!

That’s real, power!
