ISWI Ambassador French Montana Launches Coding Fellowship Program For Immigrant Youth

The new U.S. citizen is championing immigrants’ rights.

(AllHipHop News) Karim “French Montana” Kharbouch continues to use his celebrity to highlight the plight of people around the world. After partnering with Global Citizen in 2018, French is now working with I Stand With Immigrants.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome French Montana as the very first I Stand With Immigrants ambassador,” states Jen Martin, Director of the ISWI initiative. “At a time when it’s more important than ever to highlight positive stories of immigrants and immigration, we’re deeply grateful that French is continuing to share his own experience and use his platform to uplift immigrant voices in The Bronx and across the country.”

Montana’s new role as the I Stand With Immigrants Ambassador comes concurrently with the launch of the Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship Program at The Knowledge House in the Bronx. He is also partnering with FWD.us to design a special edition ISWI t-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will go to support DACA renewal fees.

“I’m blessed to give back to my community that has given so much to me. As a kid from the Bronx, it’s important for me to arm them with tools they can use to create a great future for themselves,” says Moroccan-born French Montana.

The Knowledge House has already provided technology and coding skills exposure for more than 800 Bronx-area youth. The nonprofit will partner with local high schools to deliver an 80-hour Exploring Technology curriculum as a way to prepare students for careers in STEM.

Program participants will also have access to The Knowledge House staff, who will coordinate resources for immigrant youth and families. The Informed Immigrant organization and its network of immigrant rights leaders, lawyers, technologists, and service providers will facilitate the TKH action.

“On behalf of The Knowledge House, I am grateful to be partnering with French Montana to bring our technology programs to Bronx youth from immigrant families. As the daughter of immigrants, I know first hand how important it is to put resources in the hands of people as they work towards realizing the American Dream,” expresses Jerelyn Rodriguez, Co-Founder/CEO of The Knowledge House.

Rodriguez continues, “Our technology programs have helped an average of 3 out of 4 of our graduates land their first job in tech. With French Montana’s support we can make sure hundreds of Bronx youth launch life-changing careers in technology.”

Along with allying with The Knowledge House, I Stand With Immigrants, and FWD.us for the Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship Program, French Montana is also preparing to release his third studio album MONTANA. The Epic/Bad Boy recording artist recently teased the upcoming music video for “Writing on the Wall” featuring Post Malone and Cardi B.
