Kevin Gates Drops His Sophomore Studio Album ‘I’m Him’

“I’m growing. I’m watching Kevin Gates grow. He’s growing.”

(AllHipHop News) Many Hip Hop fans were waiting for Kanye West to let loose Jesus Is King on Friday, but that set did not arrive as expected. However, Kevin Gates finally returned with his second album.

Three years after Islah, Gates is back with I’m Him (His Imperial Majesty). The set hosts the singles “Push It,” “Facts,” and “RBS Intro.” I’m Him does not contain any guest features.

“I’m growing. I’m watching Kevin Gates grow. He’s growing. I’m proud of it. He’s starting to not make excuses. He’s starting to hold himself accountable. I’m proud of him. It took a little longer than it took for most people. Women mature faster than men, but I’m proud of him,” Gates told Billboard.

He later added, “Oh my God. I’m proud of him again. I swear. I used to hate my reflection. Scars all over my body, bricklayer, finessing. I dig that.”

I’m Him is the Baton Rouge rapper’s first official studio LP since being released on parole in 2018 for a 2016 battery conviction. He was filmed kicking a woman during a concert in Florida and sentenced to 180 days in Polk County jail.

Kevin Gates discography also includes 2016’s By Any Means 2 mixtape and 2018’s Luca Brasi 3 mixtape. The 33-year-old performer is headed out on tour beginning October 12 in Chicago.
