(AllHipHop News) The world’s largest DJ competition will hold its 2019 USA National Finals in San Francisco, California. Red Bull 3Style will bring together six of America’s best turntablists to decide who will represent the country at the 2020 World DJ Championships.
DJ Jazzy Jeff, Four Color Zack, DJ Puffy, and the Bay Area’s J. Espinosa were tapped to serve as judges for the USA National Finals. Espinosa won the Red Bull 3Style World Championship at the 2019 World Finals in Taipei.
“I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Red Bull 3Style as a World Champion for the past year,” states J. Espinosa. “Throughout this time, it’s been an amazing journey and a great experience to help Red Bull advance the culture of DJing and entertain music-lovers around the globe.”
He adds, “Each year, whether I am competing or judging, I’ve witnessed so many unforgettable moments where world-class DJs from all over share their talents and I’m looking forward to seeing what they bring to the Bay Area in December!”
DJ Lazyboy, Matsu, Dynamix, DJ Fingersmith, Chris Villa, and Shane Canfield will compete for the USA crown. Each competitor will play a combination of at least three musical genres in 15 minutes. The judges will score the DJs based on four categories: Originality, Skills, Music Selection, and Crowd Response.
A total of 120 deejays will compete in 20 National Finals across the globe. The winners of the National rounds will head to the World Finals in Moscow, Russia. Plus, four Wildcards will be announced in February 2020. The International Judging Panel-selected Wildcard participants will compete alongside the National Champions at the World Finals.
The 2019 Red Bull 3Style USA Championships is scheduled for December 8 at San Francisco’s The Midway venue. For more information visit www.redbull.com.
