RZA Digs Deep For New Hulu Series ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga”

The story of the Wu-Tang Clan will come to the small screen via Hulu this September.

(AllHipHop News) “Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ to f### with!”

With the number of biopics and documentaries being made, this one will be special.

RZA is ready to tell the story of the nine-member hip-hop collective from New York, in the most intricate way possible.

Serving as the de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA spent much time finding the right actors to play the roles of each member of the group.

The new series on Hulu titled “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” will premiere the first three episodes on September 4, with seven more episodes to follow.

The show itself will dive deep into how Wu-Tang toggled between the streets and music, particularly during the prime of the crack cocaine epidemic in the 1990s.

RZA, who created the series with screenwriter Alex Tse, told the Associated Press why he decided to tell the story with Hulu, as opposed to a theatrical release.

“The Wu-Tang story is vast and you really couldn’t contain it in a two or three-hour movie. Now, in a serial form, we can take our time and tell our story. The high and low nuances of it. Hopefully, it’ll inform, entertain and inspire,” RZA explained.

Wu-Tang went from local underground rappers in Staten Island to one of the most iconic hip-hop groups of all time. It was their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) that left a lasting impact on hip-hop as a whole.

Group members include RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, U-God, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
