A surgeon working in Sierra Leone that has been diagnosed with Ebola will be flown to the U.S. to be treated on Saturday (Nov. 15).
The Associated Press reports that Dr. Martin Salia will be flown to Omaha from Africa to be treated at the Nebraska Medical Center, making him the 10th Ebola patient to be receive care for the virus in the U.S. After Dr. Craig Spencer was declared Ebola-free and released from New York City’s Bellevue Hospital on Nov. 11th, there were no more Ebola patients on U.S. soil.
Salia was working at Kissy United Methodist Hospital in the Sierra Leone capital of Freetown when he tested positive for Ebola on Nov. 10th. Five other doctors in Sierra Leone have been diagnosed with the virus and died from its complications.
Salia is in stable condition at an Ebola treatment center in Freetown.
