T.I. Shares His Thoughts On Cancel Culture & Kanye West

The self-proclaimed “King of the South” sits down with Tamron Hall.

(AllHipHop News) During a recent interview, outspoken Donald Trump supporter Kanye West declared he was repeatedly canceled before “cancel culture” was even a widely-known term. Several other celebrities have faced the wrath of the Twitter mob for various reasons as well.

Tip “T.I.” Harris has also seen his name trending on social media because faultfinders found something he said or did problematic. The Rhythm + Flow star spoke to Tamron Hall about the topic of being “canceled” by the public.

“To be honest with you, I just feel like… I think it’s fake… this cancel culture stuff, I think it’s fake,” offered Harris. “I think like Jay-Z said: first they hate you, then they love you, then they hate you again.”

The expediTiously podcast host added, “I think it’s fake because you’ll cancel someone like Kanye – now I don’t agree with his views. There’s a lot of things that he says, a lot of positions and perspectives that he speaks from that I have no agreeance with, but that’s not going to take away from the fact that he’s a phenomenal artist and he makes great music.”

At the height of the backlash against West for his insistence on aligning with the divisive Donald Trump, T.I. collaborated with the Jesus Is King creator for the “Ye vs. the People” song. The Atlanta-bred emcee also told Hall that he believes it is convenient that people have turned on Kanye but still support the Gucci fashion brand after allegations of racism.

“You’ll cancel [Kanye West] but at the same time when someone like Gucci does blackface, you’re cool with that. You’ll keep wearing Gucci but you’ll cancel Kanye,” said Tip.
