(AllHipHop News) On September 13, Hustlers will arrive in American theaters via STXfilms. Jennifer Lopez leads a star-studded cast for the real-life-inspired story of strip club employees on a mission to scam their wealthy Wall Street clientele.
“We’re presenting a world we may have seen in many movies and TV shows, but from a different perspective – that of the dancers,” says writer-director Lorene Scafaria. “It’s an epic mix of crime drama, stripper movie, and an exploration of the economic upheaval that upended the lives of so many, including our characters.”
J.Lo plays Ramona, a veteran stripper that mentors Constance Wu’s Destiny in the art of exotic dancing. In one scene from the motion picture, Ramona has to teach Destiny how to perform on a pole.
“They are definitely anti-heroes and survivors in a game that is rigged,” says Lopez. “It all began with the idea that they would get back at the Wall Street big shots who turned the country upside down in 2008. But just as it is with any hustle, once you start playing it’s hard to find the courage to stop.”
Besides Lopez and Wu, Hustlers also features Keke Palmer as Mercedes, Lili Reinhart as Annabelle, and Julia Stiles as Elizabeth. Chart-topping music artists Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar and Melissa “Lizzo” Jefferson make appearances in the forthcoming feature film as well.
Recently, Cardi talked about having to dance on top of her castmates for the movie. The “Money” rapper said, “I was really nervous, to be honest with you. I was like, ‘Oh god, I gotta sit on J.Lo. I gotta sit on Constance. This is crazy. Oh lord, I’m not ready for this. My heart’s pumping fast. Like, ‘Oh my god, I gotta rub my v##### on them! Because that’s how you give a real lapdance if you’re really trying to get extra dollars.”
