(AllHipHop News) Back in 1995, Tupac “2Pac” Shakur was one of the biggest music artists in America. That year saw the West Coast representative earn his first Billboard 200 chart #1 album with Me Against the World.
By that point, Shakur had also made national headlines for allegedly assaulting Menace II Society director Allen Hughes, facing prison time for a sexual assault case, and being shot at New York City’s Quad Recording Studios. So when 2Pac did an interview with MTV News correspondent Tabitha Soren in ’95, it was must-see TV.
MTV News published the 20-minute throwback Q&A on its YouTube Channel. The conversation took place on California’s Venice boardwalk.
Tupac and Soren talked about topics such as Pac’s name, his mother Afeni Shakur, performing with Digital Underground, being in touch with his feminine side, and the “Thug Life” mentality. Of course, the “Dear Mama” rapper was asked about the infamous shooting in NYC and possibly finding out who orchestrated the ambush.
“I’m saying. Then what do I do… Then what do I do when I find them,” responded 2Pac. “The police know who shot me… They’re not doing everything they can. They know who shot me… Everybody knows who shot me.”
He continued, “That situation with me is what comes around goes around. I believe in Karma. I believe in all of that. I’m not worried about it. They missed. I’m not worried about it unless they come back.”
Tupac Shakur was murdered in 1996. The 25-year-old emcee was gunned down in Las Vegas on September 7 and passed away on September 13. His homicide is still officially unsolved.
