Western Union Goes Hip-Hop With Timbaland, Snoop Dogg

WESTERN UNION GOES HIP-HOP AND UPDATES THE “SINGING TELEGRAM” WITH RAPPERS!

(AllHipHop News) Western Union is giving an update to the Singing Telegram and is using Hip-Hop music to relaunch the service.

The company, which launched the first Singing Telegram in 1933, is utilizing face and voice recognition technology that allows consumers to create a personalized message, with top rappers.

Snoop Dogg, Timbaland, Bollywood star Sunidhi Chauhan and K’naan are among the first artists available for the new Singing Telegrams.

The new technology allows users to send personalized messages with the artists, as they send money or bill using Western Union.

“The Singing Telegram is a natural fit for us to help consumers around the world virtually connect with their family and friends, giving them the gift of music, their personal image and voice, to make their day better,” said Diane Scott, chief marketing officer, and president, Western Union Ventures, said.

Users can duet with Snoop and sing songs like “Pretty Woman” and “Life of The Party,” while Timbaland sings “This Lady.”

K’naan contributes the standard “Happy Birthday” and John Denver’s classic, “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” while Sunidhi Chauhan performs “Call Me” and “Valentine” as her first songs in English.

Ironically, Western Union was also a collective of MC’s headed up by Snoop Dogg that hailed from the West Coast, that included artists Soopafly, Damani and Bad Lucc.
