After some time off, Young Jeezy lets the streets know he is back with his newest mixtape offering The Mixtape Monster (CTE). He comes out instantly swinging with Mariah Carey’s “Side Effects.” His verse on the mid-tempo is additional proof that any MC and Snowman collaboration is worth a listen.

The whole hood and white suburbia is sure to start rocking “Dickies” when they hear this song featuring Texas Legends UGK. Jeezy puts to rest an alleged beef with Pimp C rapping on the track, “Got red Dickies / White Dickies /Orange Dickies too / And I even got the blue for when I represent for Screw.” While Pimp talks about wearing the actual pants, Bun goes into more lyrical allusion of hustling and standing on the block.

We also get Jeezy’s verse from Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar Remix.” He takes you back to the joyous feeling of last fall with a verse to Kanye West’s “Good Life.” Additionally, “F*** The Other Side” featuring CTE family member Slick Pulla, Trick Daddy and Rick Ross is sure to get people rowdy in the club.

One of the standout tracks is “Rock Song,” where Jeezy reminisces about his life back in the day while getting very lyrical. The guitar chords and rifts make you think you’re listening to an Aerosmith instrumental, while Jeezy raps lines like, “Wanted to take it to another level / I had Flintstones them ni***s had Pebbles!”

Unfortunately the rest of the disc is watered down with highlights of his recent guest appearances including “Wanna Be’s” with Snoop, Fab’s “Diamonds Remix,” T.I.’s “Hurt Remix” and of course, Usher’s monster hit “In This Club.”

While The Mixtape Monster won’t get inducted into the Atlanta street hall of fame, the disc still holds up for some spins in the ride. So sit back and enjoy.
