this looks like a real HIPHOP album.. i look forward to this one!

    • Co=Sign!

Seems like an album like this hasn’t dropped in forever.
That Ghost Dog soundtrack was damn near, if not better than the movie.

Forrest Whitaker as a ninja action hero? ( Ghost Dog )
Surprisingly, it worked. RZA stays winning!

      • johnblacksad

oh yeah, that movie was good… and that soundtrack was deep!
        Real Samurai Sh!t…!

      • That Soundtrack was one of the most underated soundtracks ever, next to the 2nd New Jersey Drive / Pt 2 Soundtrack.
        Jeru : Invasion
        I remember a dude DJ’ing ( Scratching ) with the Album! LOL

No single, like 13 songs on the blood’clot DubPlate!

No computers back then, had to be a real live DJ…dude eventually battled Kid Capri….& lost of course, but not on scratching ( He made mistakes, but it was when he was on some Superman type ‘Ish on the 1’s & 2’s. Lost on verbal disses )

Dude “LITERALLY” brought a towel to his set to wipe the sweat & scratched with sweaty hands.

        In 1991, we battled Big “L” at “McAnn’s” ( West Side Highway , 23rd street )

Ickey C of Zulu Hosted, Lord Finesse was the surprise performer?, ( Some ‘Boolchet, because this was the Night that Lord Finesse “INTRODUCED” Big L to Hip Hop, he co-signed the ‘chet out of Big L, opened up for him & even interfered with the judging, got our DJ & 1 MC removed ( Believe it or not, neither Finese nor Big L had a DJ, Big L’s beat was on cassette. ( No CD’s, MP3, Mpegs, wave files and only professionals, established in the industry, had DAT’s.

BEEF was kept on the Mic or the Tables (until Wu-Tang started lighter fluiding Ninja’s DAT’s. SMDH @ Wu)

( Flip side, club owners liked our DJ so much, they let him play the club for 45mins, and ….will, it was a talent show, 1st prize was Contract, 2nd Prize was trophy & $500 ( Worse case scenario, the MC’s kept the trophy & “WE” got the $500 ( Breakfast with Reggie Miller, etc. )

The name of the group was “Strictly Incognetio & “Dem Niggaz”.

2MC’s & 1 DJ, the MC’s knew the local DJ & asked him to DJ for talent comp, 1x Deal.

“Dem Niggaz”, was 33 Ninjaz from the ‘Hood, who couldn’t rap, didn’t have money to get into club, but got in free as group members ( No Limit, till we arrived with like 50 heads, they made like 14 pay ) whose job it was to blend into the crowd during SI’s performance, hype it up, and win the contract.

( Free Admission to McCan’s was “OUR” ‘Dem Ninjaz” pay! LOL )

I remember when the name & plan was concocted and C Flint ( Chuck from the Chop Shop …Barbershop on 172nd & Commonwealth ) asked what should the group’s name be, since “Strictly Incognito” was just the 2 MC’s.

“What are we gonna call all ‘dem Ninjaz?”
C-Flint was asked by his partner.

After a blunt long pause of deep thought of the professional implications of the name / brand, and the long term affects etc.

He asks states ” Dem Ninjaz” !??!

He won by default, cause neither myself or the DJ,the other MC or anyone else had any suggestions. ( LOL )

( I was only there as a longtime personal friend of the DJ, had never been to a club, nor wanted too… since The Roxy’s on 14TH. ( ’82? )

( Can’t really count the Cotton Club, because my parents took us there to eat as kids….then again I was at the Roxy’s with my Dad, brother’s & sister….so???)

( Back when Roxy’s had the 4 Wheel skaters dancing right with Club goer’s…”chet, Roxy’s wasn’t even a club back then, it was a skating rink, that played Hip Hop & got Hijacked into a club on Saturday Nights.)

Wow…. that’s some real nice factual hip hop sh!t you’re blessin us with today…. this is a piece of hip-hop History!

      • Man, I remember it like it was yesterday, not knowing who Big L would become, or what type of history we were a part of….end of story gets crazier, but even crazier on some Black titanic ‘chet, you know what happened to me & Big L after.

        RIP
        BIG L / My 1st BM’s

Ickey C from The Zulu Nation gets the GA$ Face
(He know why, if not, bring him on AHH & I’ll roast him. )

Big L was better than our MC’s, but our DJ was better than his cassette, the club’s DJ & anyone else in the city on that night.

( Lord Finesse will tell you, he made Ickey C make one of our MC’s Battle Big L Acappella with Lord Finesse Hyping the crowd.
Big L ripped him,but Finesse, L , Ickey C & everyone else knew that our set, as a whole, featuring a 2 min opening solo ( Sickening ) & 3 Min MC set with the fantastical DJ was gonna take it that night.

AHH needs to link up & let me interview Lord Finesse about that night!

While Finnesse & Fat Joe were both from & “IN” Forrest projects, ( 163rd & Tinton Ave. ) Fat Joe was rhyming like:
        Yo!
        You gotta Flow Joe!
        My name Is Fat Joe!
        I thought you should know!
        I got places to GO!
        Yo-!
        ( B4 Big Pun #I’mJustSayin’ )
DITC had to look to Harlem….or Big L was just that good.

        the narrative is sick… lmao…

i can almost taste that blunt hit you’re talkin about… i felt it! lmao

      • johnblacksad

no DAT’s if you weren’t industry established… and i mean established! That is also true!

      • Most High tech equipment we had was diamond needles on the 1200’s.
        LOL!

        And a radio shack Mic!
        LOL

        Analog like a Mudda’chucker! SMDH & LMAO

Big L had a cassette, no lie, Maxell, Black & Gold! LOL
You remember them ‘chets, don’t front!

Lord Finnesse had a DAT….but the club didn’t!
        Bawahahahaaa!

He had ‘chet on Wax? / Instrumental, but no DJ.
Only someone to play the record.
Club DJ played blends, he wasn’t on some scratch-master type ‘chet, like a DJ with 10+ years perfecting his craft throwing Street Jams for his project.

        Drag-On knows him, but ????
Really, no body got DJ’s in Hip Hop know. Super producers? Yeah, a guy can’t take his lady out to eat without having to step over one knocked out in the gutter nowadays.

        Anyway, who can slice?
        DJ Khaled?
Honestly, I’ve heard him yell “We ‘Da BEST!” a hundred time, but have never heard him prove it. ‘Chet, I could cut better than him and can’t DJ for ‘chet compared to TMZ DJ above.

You have to dance as his cuts rip your pants.

      • johnblacksad

hmm… Maxell Black & Gold…. Type II… wtf? he could have at least went with Type III or IV… lol

“Lord Finnesse had a DAT….but the club didn’t!” … LMBAO!!!!

and Khaled had to call Primo for the scratches on that track with Facemob and the boy Nasir! smdh…
