Snoop Dogg and Common To Appear In Simpsons Hip-Hop Special

SNOOP, COMMON AND RZA HEADING TO “THE SIMPSONS”

(AllHipHop News) Snoop Dogg and Common are lending their voices to an upcoming hour-long hip hop special of The Simpsons.

The long-running Springfield-based cartoon is to pay homage to classic tale “The Great Gatsby” adding its own urban twist.

The two stars, as well as Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA, will voice themselves. There are other big names set to get involved too, including Empire actress Taraji P. Henson and Keegan-Michael Key.

The episode will be titled “The Great Phatsby” and focuses on the character Mr. Burns (voiced by Harry Shearer) and his friendship with a music mogul called Jay G, clearly inspired by “99 Problems” hitmaker Jay Z.

After Jay G sends the town’s millionaire into bankruptcy and takes over the power plant, it’s up to the businessman and his employee Homer Simpson (voiced by Dan Castellaneta) to plot revenge.

“We wanted the Mt. Rushmore of rap, and we got it,” the program’s producer Dan Greaney, who also penned the episode, told Entertainment Weekly. “They represent different moods and different aspects of the history of hip hop.”

Taraji voices a character called Praline and Keegan-Michael’s alter ego is Jazzy James, who both help come up with a plan of vengeance. It’s not yet known who voices Jay G.

The special show will also see Taraji reunite with Empire’s music producer Jim Beanz, who has come up with original material for the episode.

Snoop has previously appeared in hit TV series “Empire.”
