(AllHipHop News) Forbes released its annual list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. The leading choices on the 2014 edition understandably include politicians, businesswomen, technology leaders, and philanthropists, but one entertainer managed to crack the top 20.

Global superstar Beyoncé Knowles landed in the number 17 position on the list beating out former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (26), Queen Elizabeth II (35), media mogul Arianna Huffington (52), and 80 others. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was number one, followed by U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen at number 2.
Forbes credits Bey for what it calls a “banner year” in 2013 which featured the success of her self-titled 5th album and the “Mrs. Carter” world tour. The “Drunk In Love” singer is also highlighted for what Forbes sees as Beyoncé “embracing her role as an icon of women’s empowerment.”
First Lady Michelle Obama came at number 8 with possible 2016 presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton coming in two spots ahead at 6. Other notable celebrities to make the list include Oprah Winfrey (14), Sofia Vergara (32), Anna Wintour (39), Ellen DeGeneres (46), Angelina Jolie (50), Lady Gaga (67), and Gisele Bundchen (89).
