Labor Day may signify the end of Summer, but that doesn’t mean that the party’s over. Last night in Brooklyn, at the Inlet, the fifth annual installment of the Fool’s Gold Presents: Day Off supplied awesome showmanship along with salacious fodder for today’s headlines — this largely a courtesy of Meek Mill.

This nomadic festival which navigates the nation offers a different lineup for each of city it visits. Towkio and Fame School, effectively warmed up the Big Apple crowd. When A-Trak commanded the 1’s and 2’s playing tracks like Travi$ Scott’s “Antidote,” the crowd responded word for word — the atmosphere turned all the way up. Although A-Trak tried to douse the crowd with bottles of water that only served to amp up its level of excitement.

“I got the gas and the coke / I don’t sell mollys no more,” were a few of the words that ILoveMakonnen used to connect to the crowd. Dressed in all black with tasteful pieces of jewelry, A$AP Ferg, effortlessly manipulated the mic when spitting lyrics to some of his songs like “Shabba.” The special guest also took the time to spit a freestyle dedicated to A$AP Yams. The next unexpected invite was none other than Brooklyn’s own, Fabolous. Both “Situations” and “Breathe” were delivered to an appreciative audience.

Recovering from an unexpected fall between the stage and the platform supporting the amps, Post Malone, performed his popular tracks like “Too Young,” “White Iverson,””What’s Up,” and “That’s It.” The lit crowd reflected its confidence in the emerging talent. Soon, Atlanta native, Bankroll Fresh took his turn with the mic.  Once the crowd was consumed by a boisterous chant of DBK, Skepta stepped forward. The London lad effectively “Shutdown” the crowd, and proceeded to give up fan favorites like “It Ain’t Safe.”

Although they were not labeled as the headliner the Flatbush Zombies stole the show. From diving into the audience and riding the wave with multiple crowd surfing endeavors, the Brooklyn trio left everything on the stage. “Palm Trees” amongst other tracks helped to encourage friendly mosh pits. When Meek Mill arrived to start his set, all the gathered publications covering the event were made to relocate from the front of the stage.

Of course, Meek Mill shared obligatory songs like “Levels,” “House Party,” “Amen,” “The Get Back.” Supporters were disappointed that the Philly native abruptly cut short his set after a crowd surfing attempt went awry. “I tried to do some hardcore sh*t for the first time. I can’t handle it. Is it always hard like that? Don’t push me!I am not ready for this sh*t right here,” he told the spectators.

All beef aside, Meek did take the time to show love to Future, Travi$ Scott, and Bobby Shmurda. Fool’s Gold Presents: Day Off was definitely worth the price of admission. Be sure to check it out when it visits a city near you!
