(AllHipHop News) Run DMC and Usher are the subjects of a new lawsuit from R&B singer Syleena Johnson’s Father.
Syl Johnson, a musician in his own right, maintains that Usher and the surveying members of Run DMC own him money for sampling his music. Johnson has sued the two entertainment giants for sampling his 1967 hit song “Different Strokes” without permission.
Sony Music and Universal Music Group are also named in the lawsuit.
In 2011, Johnson also sued Jay Z and Kanye West for similar reasons on Watch The Throne. The case was settled out of court.
Floyd Mayweather basically destroyed the boy Canelo last month, if you were on a vacation in the Bermuda Triangle. So, now everybody is looking to see who Floyd is going to fight now. Well, well, what do we have here?
Some signs were pointing to the rumors that Amir Khan would be Mayweather’s next opponent that surfaced earlier this week. A report from the Daily Mail by Jeff Powell in Britain suggested that Khan and Mayweather would meet in the ring on May 3, 2014 in Las Vegas and expected to rake in $6 million. The report picked up steam due to the fact that Amir Khan’s December 7 showdown with Devon Alexander has hit a few speed bumps and the deal for the fight hadn’t been finalized. Rather than risk a huge bout with Mayweather, the story suggests that Khan will focus on training for the next seven months with Virgil Hunter in San Francisco to prepare for the biggest fight of his career.

(AllHipHop News) Do not let the alluringly innocent appearance fool you, Elle Varner has a razor tongue and is not afraid to use it. The prolific songwriter exclusively spoke to AllHipHop about Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse, her boyfriend at the time, Iman Shumpert’s response and her own response to Beyonce’s “Bow Down”.
In mid-March, Beyonce sent the music industry in a stir with her song “Bow Down” wherein she essentially told her R&B competition whom may have been inspired by her to “bow down, b*tches. While Elle believes the song was really good, she did say she might have a diss song in the holster:
I actually made a song kind of dissing everybody. It’s called “Coming For Your Neck”. Who knows, I might put it out. But at the end of the day, I’m a writer and I’m a great writer. So, I might say some sh*t one day but then it’d be like “la la la, playing in the forest.”
Elle also commented on the reaction to Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. The loquacious singer gave a “no comment” when her friend J. Cole was mentioned but did speak on Iman Shumpert’s response to the polarizing Kendrick Lamar verse:
I give him props, because he does whatever he wants to do. Everybody doesn’t have the confidence to do that. So say what you want but the man did something the next day and we’re still waiting on a few responses.
Check out the rest of the interview below where the songstress discusses her writing skills, says it’d be “unfair” to the rap game if she started rapping and more:
