The Inglewood, California group, which is enjoying success with their hit single “Teach Me How to Dougie,” will appear at Arleta on August 31st, to register eligible students to vote as part of Rock The Vote’s Democracy Class program. “We feel it is important that kids realize the power they have with voting, that every person counts,” CSD told AllHipHop.com in a joint statement. “No matter who you are, where you come from, you have the power to make a difference,” CSD continued. “It’s all about shaping your future… that being said, kids have to stay in school!! You need that high school diploma. And to us, there is nothing sexier than an educated woman. Rock The Vote was the perfect outlet for us to spread our message.”During the visit, Cali Swag District group members C Smoove, Yung, Jayare and M-Bone will also promote their upcoming debut album The Kickback, which is due in stores on October 12th through 319 Music Group/Capitol Records.

(AllHipHop News) Detroit rapper Big Sean recently released a promotional video in support of his newest mixtape B.I.G FFVOL. 3, Hosted by Don Cannon. “I really wanted to do this mixtape before the album,” Big Sean said of his new release. “I have done mixtapes before, and I only done two in my life, third time is a charm I feel like. Cannon is on some real G-s**t and he came to me and approached me with the whole thing.”The G.O.O.D. music artist, who was mentored by Kanye West as he developed his style, has obtained the support of fellow rappers Chip tha Ripper Asher Roth, Chuck Inglish, Dom Kennedy, Currency, Suai, complimented by the production of Kanye West and No I.D.“You know, we got some blessing of people like No I.D., Kanye and a whole bunch of big names for a mixture,” Big Sean said. “I feel like a lot of people don’t event get opportunities like that. (AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z has teamed with Nike to create a limited edition sneaker for charity. Only five pairs of Nike’s “All Black Everythings” are being made in conjunction with the World Basketball Festival, which is taking place in New York from August 12th-22nd. Each pair represents one of the five countries playing in the event and according to organizers, Jay-Z is the only other person in the world with each one of the five exclusive sneakers. Nike donated the custom pairs to be auctioned off to benefit Jay-Z’s nonprofit, The Shawn Carter Foundation.Tonight (August 12th), Jay-Z will hit the stage at Radio City Music Hall to launch the World Basketball Festival. “We’re excited to bring together the international prestige of Jay-Z and the USA Team on stage at famed Radio City Music Hall to open the first World Basketball Festival. (AllHipHop News) A screenwriter has filed a lawsuit against the writers of the upcoming movie Lottery Ticket, which stars rappers Ice Cube and Bow Wow. According to the lawsuit, which was filed yesterday (August 11th) in Los Angeles Superior Court, writer Tom Huang claims he wrote a treatment for a similar movie in 2004. TMZ.com reports that Huang allegedly passed the idea to his agent Brad Kaplan, who then allegedly gave it to Erik White, the writer and director of Lottery Ticket. Huang, who is suing for millions, claims that Kaplan and White stole the plot, characters and scenes from the movie. According to the lawsuit, White has already denied stealing the script.Lottery Ticket features Ice Cube, Bow Wow, Mike Epps, T-Pain and others. Despite the lawsuit, Ice Cube is excited about the movie and working with Bow Wow. “I had a chance to work worth Bow [Wow] and talk to him about acting and the business and I think he’s going to go a long way when it comes to movies,” Ice Cube said in an interview. “He’s got a steady growth on him and it looks good from here.”Lottery Ticket is due in theaters August 20th.

(AllHipHop News) Foxy Brown’s brother/rapper Gavin “Pretty Boy” Marchand was among the men arrested for allegedly using a stolen credit card to purchase designer clothes in Manhattan. Gavin Marchand was arrested last Saturday (August 7th) for allegedly possessing a forged American Express card to purchase almost $8,000 worth of clothes from the Hermes store on Madison Avenue. According to the New York Post, police were inside the store conducting surveillance when Gavin, 35, and three associates arrived at the high-end boutique. A 31-year-old man named Warren David allegedly attempted to use the card. When the men attempted to leave the store, police approached them, but the driver, Derwin Benoit, led police on a 90-mph chase, before he finally pulled over and surrendered. “I don’t know anything about that,” Foxy Brown told the New York Post as she left a grand jury hearing yesterday, for allegedly violating a restraining order against her neighbor last month. Gavin Marchand briefly served as Foxy Brown’s spokesman/manager. In addition to rhyming, Gavin also served as the executive producer of Foxy Brown’s album Broken Silence.If convicted, Gavin Marchand could serve up to eight years in prison.
