Celebrity jeweler Jacob Arabov pleaded guilty Wednesday (Oct. 31) in federal court to charges of falsifying records and giving false statements to investigators looking into a multi-state drug ring.
According to a news release from U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Murphy Arabov will serve up to 46 months in prison and pay a $2 million penalty.
In exchange for the guilty plea, Benjamin Brafman, Arabov’s attorney, said prosecutors agreed to drop money laundering charges against his client.
“I realize I have made a terrible mistake and I accept the consequences of my actions,” Arabov said in a news release issued through Brafman.
The guilty plea is the latest development surrounding Arabovs case. The 42-year-old Russian immigrant, who is known as “Jacob the Jeweler,” became a popular fixture in the music community for providing diamonds to a host of celebrities such as Sir Elton John, Madonna, Jay-Z, Sean Diddy Combs, Young Jeezy, Kanye West and numerous others.
In June 2006, Arabov was arrested at his jewelry shop in Manhattan.
He was among a group of people authorities accused of conspiring to launder about $270 million in drug profits for the “Black Mafia Family,” a criminal ring that worked out of the Detroit area in the early 1990s.
A seven-year investigation in to the case ultimately led to Arabov being indicted with 41 other people, according to Murphys office.
Over 28 people have pleaded guilty as eight others are scheduled to go to trial on Nov. 19.
The whereabouts of the remaining six people are unknown.
About 1,100 pounds of cocaine and $19 million in cash and other assets were seized beginning in 2000, federal authorities said.
Despite Arabovs plea, no sentencing date was immediately set by U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn.
Hurricane Chris performance on 51/50 Ratchet (Pologrounds/J Records) is like Rex Grossman on the 2006 Chicago Bearshes the only thing holding the team back from winning the championship. The Shreveport, Louisiana native shows some potential on his debut but hes overshadowed by standout production. Chris rudimentary lyrics and recycled song topics show a narrow view of life experiences curtailing him from truly opening up to his fans. 51/50 Ratchet succeeds with beats provided by producers such as the Ying Yang Twins hit maker Mr. Collipark and the underrated Phunk Dawg. For evidence look no further than the jazzy horns and subtle snap heard on the slow jam Touch Me. Hurricane Chris is at his best when hes getting the party started with Hand Clap, which features a stellar beat with its fast pace and energetic feel. Additionally the loud 808s heard on Walk Like That will definitely have club goers bouncing. Unfortunately the A Bay Bay chorus is as catchy as remembering where you were the day Allen Iverson said, Were talking about practice. Middle-aged parents living in Iowa may never know who Hurricane Chris is but theyll remember A Bay Bay because they heard their children screaming and clapping to it a thousand times. Unlike Jay-Z, Hurricane Chris couldnt consider retiring as a rap legend after his debut effort because even after someone drunk himself into a stupor theyd still agree that its not the most well-rounded album. While its not a crime to leave a woman, the lack of depth with which Hurricane Chris explains this issue on Leaving You leaves fans much to the imagination. Furthermore Rap is an art form that thrives on storytelling and when he rhymes, My pedal to the medal/While Im thinking bout all of my dawgs I lost in the street tryin to ball like me, hes merely copying & pasting what ten other rappers previously said.If 51/50 Ratchet was heroin it would be Frank Lucas Blue Magic that Nicky Barnes cut up a thousand more timesstill good but not 100% pure. Until Hurricane Chris delivers more original lyrics, hell just be a good pretender but not quite the real thing. SOUNDCHECK:

Hip-Hop is dead is a catchphrase with too much of a shelf life, but one mid-west rhyme sayer and two rap legends came to LA and proved that slogan wrong. Ghostface Killah, Rakim, and Brother Ali, put on a Hip-Hop show with a live band. All three artists touched the crowd with performances alongside The Rhythm Roots Allstars kicking off their19 city tour at House of Blues in Hollywood Monday night (Oct. 29) and in Long Beach, CA on Halloween night (Oct. 31) at The Vault. Both spots were packed to full capacity, representing true Hip-Hop as the crowd spit bars over the music played by the 10-piece ensemble.Minneapolis bred Brother Ali opened the tour with his set of thought provoking tracks but gave all respect to the legend that he says influenced his lyrics, Rakim. Hes one of the greatest MCs that ever did this, Brother Ali said. While Ali garnered his share of love, the crowd went bananas over the tours headliners. The following performance by Ghostface Killah, whose new album Big Dough Rehab is forthcoming, gave the crowd that ill NY flavor with hits both throwback and new. After a heartfelt tribute to O.D.B., Ghost brought a bevy of beauties onstage with him to complete his set with hits like Back Like That and Nutmeg performing the last two songs like a live music video.Rakim brought the most heartfelt performance. You could see that the crowd definitely missed what he brings to the mic. His forthcoming effort Seventh Seal due early next year was not mentioned during this show. Not having an album since 1999 and onstage without a crew, he gave concertgoers a nostalgic excursion through the lyrical dimensions in Hip-Hop. Ra spit throwback classics like, I Aint No Joke, Microphone Fiend, and Follow The Leader showing that the truth in music never dies. The show was complete and lacked nothing. Coming to a city near you true Hip-Hop heads can witness further evidence that Hip-Hop lives. You can check out concert footage online at www.flow.tv

We at AllHipHop.com pride ourselves on being the innovators of news alerts for the nation’s mobile devices. While we all love to keep an eye on the newest technologies, a quick survey of the AHH staff found that we might not be the most advanced with our personal mobile gadgets. Dynasty Williams tried to tell us he uses a Skytel pager, but we’re not about to believe that!
At the end of the day, it’s all about what is most reliable and affordable. We thought we’d share what we use with you, for better or worse. Are there any new gadgets you’re trying out or looking forward to? Tell us about them!
Kathy Iandoli: Sidekick III
I was in love with the Sidekick II, but the Sidekick III and I are just casually dating really. I like the slim design (I hear the LX is even slimmer) and this one came with a downloadable voice recorder, so that helps on the go. The overexposed camera absolutely sucks, and MySpace mobile was just added. How am I supposed to load photos to my site from my Sidekick when every photo comes out like the exorcist? Somebody upgrade me!
Aqua Boogie: Sidekick II and the trusty Moleskine Pocket Journal
My fresh but broke writer status has kept me stuck with my Sidekick II for a long minute. But, my truly trusty weapon of choice is my Moleskine Pocket Journal. I can jot down notes with a pen quickfast and feel like Im on my Hemingway type grind in an increasingly non-analog world.
Odeisel: Palm Treo 700wx
I’m one of those guys that thinks a phone should just call. I don’t need an organizer, I’m used to keeping those things in my head. But the more I started writing and covering events, the less I wanted to carry around writing utensils and paper. Enter the Palm Treo 700wx. Now i can pretty much outline coverage of events while i’m there, Whether it be a concert, a listening session or a news event. Being able to take flicks and record in mp3 format is also a big bonus. The Windows platform allows for seamless transition from the phone to the laptop, and look ma, no wires – as you can beam thru infrared. It ain’t cutting edge, but it gets the job done.
Dove: Sidekick III and Razr V3
I’ve been using the Sidekick III since last year, and although I love it (read: I’m addicted to it), I am drooling over the new LX version. My SK III does everything I need it to with regard to emails, IM’s and text messaging, but on the down side, the camera is just crap. I hear the LX has a better camera and an improved LCD screen, so it looks like Santa has some serious shopping to do. I have also maintained my AT&T account for several years (206 represent!), but I have been a miser with it, holding on to one of the original Razr phones with no bells or whistles. Based upon comments from friends and the fact that I’m long overdue for an upgrade, I’m about to embark upon the purchase of the new Blackberry Curve 8310. I’ll have to get back on that review!
Jamile Karout: Blackberry Curve 8310 Titanium
I was eyeballing my Blackberry Curve long before the makers decided that Curve would be the name. I waited out all the hype of the Blackberry 8800, and it was worth every moment of it! It does everything I need. Aside from pushing my emails to me within seconds, it really helps me out by allowing me to store and play my mp4 projects, my music – and it’s the first Blackberry to take really great pictures! One of my favorite features is the hot spot at home capability, which allows me to make unlimited calls via wi-fi from home and any T-mobile hot spot location. The internet connection is the best I’ve seen from any mobile device, and a wi-fi connection gives you hi speed access. It’s completely addictive and I couldn’t imagine having to function without it… I have to say its earning its “Crackberry” reputation.
Steve Raze: Sidekick III
I use my Sidekick III as a business tool. Contacts, Internet, IM, texting, it’s hard to work effectively without it. A huge bonus was adding the media card so you can load mp3’s on it. Now this (almost) replaces my iPod.
Martin A. Berrios: Blackberry 7130c
As my first true venture into PDA’s, the Blackberry 7130c holds me down. All my email accounts are synched up, and I can’t complain about its phone prowess. Since this model originally debuted last year, some common features that would keep it competitive amongst its counterparts are sorely missing. Typing takes a minute to get used to as its not a regular QWERTY set up. No popping off with videos and no camera either, but personally I’m not pressed. Overall, I must say the 7130c is suitable for those are ready to take the Blackberry plunge (Pause).
Prepping to release the G-Unit collective’s sophomore salvo, Shoot To Kill, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo reveal some of their targets. Being a part of one of the rap games biggest groups today puts a lot of eyes on you. Two individuals in particular stand out one. One for his notoriety and outspoken nature, the other for his ill punch lines and lyrical flow, Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks, respectively. The G-Unit generals spoke to AllHipHop.com about the future of the group and the T.I. situation, addressed past rumors and provided us a glimpse into what they are doing for 2008.Yayo and Banks are focused on the future of G-Unit and trying to recapture the hunger that brought them to this point in time. Banks and Yayo have been absent from the scene some time, and they both had a lot to say regarding their hiatus from the charts. From their responses, its easy to see their starving to get their position back.AllHipHop.com: So Yayo, you have to be more excited that you are apart of the process of this G-Unit album since you were locked up on the first album. Has being on this album changed things a lot?Lloyd Banks: It changes it a lot. Coming up rapping, before I actually got on, before anyone got one, any one of us, that was my battery. You know what Im saying? I went off of what his last verse was and really didnt pay attention to anything else that was out there.. because I felt like that was all that I needed. So, when [Yayo] got locked up it was like, Damn!. Thats why he was on the Hunger For More album. I held my project back to make sure that he was on that. Tony Yayo: First day I got out I came and recorded on Banks album. Lloyd Banks: Cause I know when I do shows, 9 times out 10, he gonna be there. I needed something for him to come out and rock. Fresh out the jail cell, you know what Im saying? So, this album is going to be the same drive, because we all coming from the same place. Tony Yayo: Banks is hungry again, period. Lloyd Banks: But he makes me even more [hungry]. You know how that is. Being onstage. I look to my right, I know if I make a mistake he gonna catch it. That applies on the stage, in an interview, wherever you at. Tony Yayo: G-Unit we on a whole other category than a lot of rappers, to me. And its not like to brag or boast, but like I said, we get the checks but we never get the trophies. I mean, you look at what 50 sold, what Banks sold, what I sold, what Buck sold, as a whole. What 30 million records sold? No group has done that yet, as a whole. So, its like, when you look at that, you gotta give us the credit. People see sales is down now, so [they say], Oh, G-Unit is falling off! But sales is down for everybody. You got rappers doing 1,900, 4,000, 5,000 units. I look at it like, Man, lets just have fun with it. You know, we made a lot of money and went though a lot of things. When you get a lot of money egos change, because now I can go to the bank and withdraw what I want to do, buy that car I wanna buy, so if you havent made enough money yet, you havent changed. Weve changed, all of us, as men. You understand what Im sayin? And we back, Man. AllHipHop.com: When you say that you havent brought home any trophies, is that something you want?Tony Yayo: I mean we want trophies, but its like our music is so aggressive, what we rhyming about, we know were not going to get any trophies. Dudes like Kanye and Common Sense will be nominated way ahead of a Lloyd Banks or a Tony Yayo. Cause people see the aggressiveness in the music. But thats where we came from. Kanye is rapping about being a college dropout. Im rapping about being a high school dropout. And to me, 70% of people tune into what their environment is. In our environment there was nothing there. 50 lived down the block from me, Banks lived down the block from me, and with everybody in my neighborhood the thing was to sell drugs. Lloyd Banks: We came a long way, man. We exceeded everybody elses expectations a long time ago. Way before we did ours. There was a point when the mixtape first came out, 50 Cent Is The Future, where its me, Yayo and 50 on the cover at [that] point, Man, I didnt even know where this was gonna go. We was riding around super dirty. You know what Im sayin? Super Dirty. Like if we had gotten knocked one time, we wouldnt have been here talking to you now. Not saying we were satisfied or content with that, but to be honest with you, I didnt know where we was going to end up if that deal didnt come through. If Yay didnt call me like, Yo, the deal went through. I honestly couldnt tell you what was going to happen in the 8 or 9 months. I was happy at that point. So, to get here now, at the point we are now and have sold as many records as we did . Forget about the sales, lets just talk about the overall influence of the hood, mainstream America, everywhere Tony Yayo: When you go overseas and people know a Lloyd Banks record in Japan or Africa and they know So Seductive in Estonia, and we go to Ireland and they know Lloyd Banks.Lloyd Banks: Weve put in a lot of work, Baby. What are we on like 25 mixtapes right now? We made a mixtape in a matter of two days. 8 records a day type sh*t. The grind was always there, it was just like nothing stays in one place in one time. To me, it just feels like it ain’t the time for the real ni**a right now. Tony Yayo: And the hate come from because sh*t , I was locked up for two years and when I came home, I came home to money, I came home to condos and everything. Banks was totally different. I pinched myself to see if I was f*cking dreaming. Thats why I got locked up 12 hours later, because I was f*cking trying to play catch-up and was just so hype. I had a condo, cars, everything waiting for me. So, the hate comes from when you see groups like Fat Joes Terror Squad and D-Block and Black Wall Street, these artists havent gotten these things and they been in the game. How long has Fat Joe been in the game? He been in the game for about 15 years now. Jealous-ones envy. [Fat Joe] was rhyming before Biggie, before Big L, before Tupac, some of the greatest. So, really the truth inside is how he feels is like, I deserve that sh*t! I been in the game for 15 years! Lloyd Banks: And thats how it go on the block too. Tony Yayo: When you look at Jadakiss and all of them, D-Block and all of them, its the same thing with them. They was rapping next to one of the greatest rappers alive, Biggie Smalls And what have they accomplished from doing that? Theyre not 30 million albums sold. They havent sold any records, theyre doing deals with independents, they havent accumulated what G-Unit has accumulated, as a whole. This is where the anger comes from. As well, as The Game. Lloyd Banks: In a matter of three or four years. If you could look at me in my face and tell me you havent been moved or inspired by us to get in the f*cking studio, your 100% lying, period. Half the records that came out, right now its G-Unit against the whole industry. Tony Yayo: Yea, its G-Unit against the world and in this industry s### ain’t no f*cking love.Lloyd Banks: But I could careless, because I could show you my phone right now, I dont got a rap n*gga number in my phone right now. AllHipHop.com: Yall dont think that maybe you have fueled some of the hate? Lloyd Banks: You know what it is, a lot of people dont see the way we fit in, man. We grew up together. If you look at the industry, theres make-ups to break-ups everyday. Look around. Look how easy it is to manipulate a ni**a and get him to feel like if you go over there youll be better. We dont live by them values. Tony Yayo: Cause its business with them, with us its friendship. Its different. Lloyd Banks: Ni**as wanna get in where they fit at. A lot of ni**as see how tight we are and dont see how they fit in. Tony Yayo: Ni**as might go through they sh*t, but what happened to loyalty. 80% of these rappers havent been on the street. They havent been on the street because they have no values, I have values. What happened to knowing you could have money around your man and no money be missin? What happened to you could trust ni**as with your kids and nothing happen to your kids? What happened to you could trust a motherf*cking ni**a with anything? You dont find ni**as like that no more. So, when you find a ni**a thats loyal to you and is loyal to what youre doing, thats why Im in the situation Im in. Cause I was always with 50 from the beginning. Banks always knew I was loyal. Banks was my man, he lived right across the street from me. I was just kissin his grandmothers feet, cause I gotta fly to Vegas. You know what I mean? So, its like we family. Its different. Ni**as like Game, they come around. Games Momma was calling ni**as phone like, I cant believe it. Congratulations! Im happy for what you did to our son.. Yea, cause your son was a bum before we knew him. Fif wrote the records for him. The reason why I dont like these dudes is cause I dont understand what was the reason to flip. You coulda still gotten money with us. It was really a big problem like that, but f*ck him. And its dudes insecurities, like I dont want be a 50. A lot of people look at G-Unit like, Are they in 50s shadow? No, Lloyd Banks sold two million records with Hunger For More. Young Buck went platinum. I went gold and my album came out when I was on house arrest. But we dont get the trophies and we dont get the recognition from Hip-Hop. MTV didnt even want me on the red carpet. [VH1] Hip-Hop Honors and sh*t, I didnt see no invites in the mail. But you know what, f*ck em. AllHiphop.com: Well the perception might be a little different. Sometimes people see you in concerts and think that you can do anything cause your G-Unit. If you can express what kind of scrutiny yall go through. Why cant you do whatever you want as people think you can?Lloyd Banks: Cause some sh*t just ain’t meant to be done. I mean, we rap, were talented, dont get me wrong. But, before we were rappers, we was people too and this sh*t is not accepted. Tony Yayo: In the industry, they want you to hold your tongue like even Violator and Interscope, there are certain events that they dont want Yayo around, because Yayo has bad publicity for smacking a 15 year old kid right now. But you know what, Im guilty until Im proven innocent. You know how its supposed to be how you innocent until proven guilty? Im guilty until Im proven innocent. And its like certain venues be like, We dont want Yayo to walk the red carpet next to 50, or we dont want that. Listen, these motherf*cker care about 50s money. My whole thing is, Bro, I dont care about 50s money. I dont care about Banks money. If we was to be broke tomorrow, I would be with them figuring out who we would be going to rob. AllHipHop.com: But isnt that a part of your aggressive nature, that might have brought that on? You are street cats, and everybody knows how aggressive yall are. Is everybody on red alert, now that Yayos comin?Tony Yayo: Yea, of course they on red alert.Lloyd Banks: They should be! But them ni**as claim that they abide by the same law, so they should know too. They should look out for just more than The Unit. Every group from New York that claims to be from the street has to abide by the same law, period. Aint nobody exempt from that.Tony Yayo: I was talking to Miss Info one day, right and she said to me, Yall different, yall dont want to go to Puffys all white party or go to a Russell Simmons event. And we just different, man. Its not like Im trying to prove anything or trying to be hood.Lloyd Banks: Its the Champagne Era. I never really gave a f*ck to be honest with you. You could say thats helped me in ways or thats hurt me in ways. That was just me. I had trust issues. Let alone, its hard for a ni**a to just come in the game like that. We didnt have like [BETs] Freestyle Fridays and all that sh*t. Like I went straight from the street to the camera. So, hey, excuse me for not blending in like the rest of these ni**as, but thats just me, I have trust issues. To this day, I dont f*ck with ni**as. I might say, Whats up? and keep it movin. Cause ni**as is the same, they can get on a record tomorrow and talk about you. Take kindness for weakness and they look at it that way. We dont care, not about the next man and what he doin. Tony Yayo: With me, the thing is, Im just a street ni**a, the epitome of a street ni**a. All these other ni**as talking like, Yo, Im street Im this and that.. To me, being street is loyalty. I got a sister. My sister go and spit on a ni**a, right? Then the ni**a go and spit on her. I dont even wanna hear the story, ni**a. Thats the same thing with [Banks] or the same thing with Fif. Thats the same thing with all the ni**as thats in my clique. Lloyd Banks: I dont understand why thats so shocking. I dont give a f*ck if Im 100% wrong, he could be 110% wrong, and thats my ni**a. You wrong, until its all over and you go and talk about it.
TOO MUCH WORK!
Yesterday, I did entirely too much work. If todays rumors look thin GUESS WHY?

YOU CANT BAN THE SNOW MAN!
I really can say that I dont know what happened with Jeezy and the DJs from North Carolina. I can say that according to rumor, the ban on Jeezy has been lifted. I think that some facts came out and some things were cleared up. Either way, Jeezy and Jamz worked it out. Thats cool. You cant ban the Snow mMan. I will try to get the real deal asap.
JAY-Z AS FRANK LUCAS?
They actually look a lot alike. I used the old classic gangster pic of Jay for affect.
So let me get this. Jay-Z wanted to play Frank Lucas in American Gangster, according to a source for Sandra Rose. Jay-Z gets turned down for role after Denzel enters the picture. Jay then offers to do the soundtrack, which was also denied. Jay-Z then does a concept album anyway to do what he wanted to regardless. Ah this is a horrible paraphrasing of a rumor that Sandra Rose has posted about the Jigga Man. She has a source that told her the info though. Well, actually Jay admitted that the studio didnt think he could hold down the whole sound track. I dont know for certain, but I do know that Jay really talked a lot about being able to relate to Franks laid-back demeanor. In fact, I always felt Jay could make a great actor since I saw the video for Streets Is Watching.
Check it out and tell me what you think.
LUPSTERGATE
People think I hate Lupie. Not true. I definitely think he disrespected A Tribe Called Quest in a number of ways. And an eye witness said he saw the Lupe man choke a girl. I didn’t even make such a claim! I wrote a rumor (somebody told me about it) and later got a separate letter that said what it said. I would never LIE about somebody being violent towards somebody, especially a female. Plus, I don’t get into it with rappers. Rappers are violent and dangerous and they kill and sell drugs. I will say I don’t believe this, but here is what somebody close to Lupious said about what happened at the T-Mobile party.
Oh, and Lupe didnt get into any fight with a female at some tmobile party in nyc either Someone in his crew accidently spilled a drink on a girl, and some dudes jumped in that was it stop the rumors folks Fiasco dont get down like that
Illseed: fair and balanced.
As for you genius fans asking about Lupie doing a show in Chicago and calling me a liar for saying he was in New York at a T-Mobile party…have you ever heard of PLANES? Stay a fan, b! People are clueless! (Chi Town is roughly two hours away from NY.) I’m done with this.
JOKES ON KANYE, EH? THE MTV EUROPE AWARDS!
Before I get to the Kanye stuff, I heard that Amy Winehouse was at the MTV Europe Awards and homegirl looked really out of it. She won an award and went up there and just shrugged her shoulders, I heard. That Blake dude damn it! I hope this isnt Lauryn Hill all over again.
So, Kanye was NOT at the MTV Europe Awards. But Justice was. This was the frech duo that bested Kanye last year for best video. Anyway, they won again. They were cracking jokes, seemingly expecting Ye to show up. I heard they said, Kanye, where are you? and other comments of that nature. Justices new song beat Yes Stronger.
On top of that, I heard my girl Kelly Rowland said a lil slickness about Kanye. From what I understand, she was the presenter of the award and she joked, This is for best video not most expensive one. You know Im talking to you Kanye! WOW! I thought Kelly was nicer than that!
DA BRAT UPDATE
Here is her mug shot:
The latest on Da Brat is that she got charged with aggravated assault. She and a waitress got into shoving match in JDs Studio 72 Club with a waitress. Here is the CNN Report:
Parish said the police report indicates Harris (Da Brat) and a 24-year-old waitress at the club got into a squabble after the waitress bumped into her. At some point, the waitress walked away and moments later was hit in the face with a bottle of rum.
Parish said the waitress, who sustained a deep laceration to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead, was driven to a hospital by a friend.

ITS OVER, DOG!
The Dog The Bounty Hunter dudes show has been indefinitely suspended by A&E. His son was dating a female that was Black/Latina and Dog Man didnt like it. Ironically, he predicted his own demise in the phone call. He told his son on the phone, “I’m not going to take a chance ever in life of losing everything I’ve worked for because some f**king n**ger heard us say, ‘N**ger’ and turns us into the Enquirer magazine. Our career is over.” His own son turned in the audio to the Enquirer. Thanks Ivan!

I heard that the family of Bumpy Johnson are all set to dispute the gangsters representation in the American Gangster movie. They categorically will refute certain details.

RANDOM QUOTES
Jay-Z telling MTV his thoughts on Nas album title:
Theres reasons behind what hes doing…Of course were going to support it. I hope it’s coming from a great place. I believe it’s coming from a great place, but I just think it’s misguided. Because people give strength to words and power to words.
Camron tells Miss Info his thoughts on Jim Jones:
I still havent spoken to Jim. But Jim ran with me for over 10 yrs, he worked hard, and I wish him the best of luck. Everybody thinks Im mad at Jim. Why am I mad? I told people for years that Jimmy was gonna be a star. So its better on my resume I wish him the best.
The only thing is, him being with 50, I cant really run with that. Hang out with who you want to hang out but me, I cant really do nothing like that.
RZA GOT JACKED BY SERRATO AND FINAL SCRATCH??
I should have given this to AHHs Producers section, but I think I am going to hold it to myself.
SPEAKING OF RZA – SUPPORT AMERICAN GANGSTER!!
Okay, it’s no secret! Some of you have already seen “American Gangster” starring Denzel Washington, on a “very clear” bootleg screener’s copy. Wu Tang’s Rza, who plays a cop in the movie, recently checked in with the “Trey the Chocolate Jock Morning Jump-off” (Power 92 Chicago) and my homey Kendra G (morning show co-host) hit me up with the details on how Rza’s feeling to know this GREAT movie (don’t ask me how I know it’s great, the less details the better) has been heavily bootlegged. Well according to Kendra G. Rza isn’t upset, he knows how the hood gets down! But he did state that even though you may own the bootleg copy of “American Gangster” he still wants you to go see the movie this weekend because Universal Pictures spent $100 million dollars to make this movie about a BLACK MAN and if we want them to continue to spend that kind of money on movies like this it must do well in the theaters. So in other words, even if you seen the movie 8 times in the comfort of your own living room already still hit the theaters this weekend to check the movie out or do not complain if Universal Pictures decides to never make another movie like it!
I AM SO THERE, but read our review if you really want to know a writer’s opinion.

Check out the first single from Jim Jones Harlem American Gangster. Pretty good, Mr. Jones!
LIL WAYNE BEAT CONTROVERSY
I got this letter from an upcoming producer. Im not co-signing, but I thought it might be worthy of a print out. They sent me audio and its very, very similar to the Lil Wayne PMW beat heard above. Read it and you be the judge.
In October 2005 JP got a call from an Atlantic A&R by the name of Damon Eden. Damon told JP to make it to Miami (9hrs away from where we live) the next morning to meet super producer Jim Jonsin down at SouthBeat Records (Do the research). So we hit the road and went to Miami. JP rapped for Jim Jonsin, Obviously Jim was impressed because he GAVE JP three hot ass beats, and told him to do something over them. JP recorded a rough draft to “Life” down at South Beat recording studio. So Jp brought the tracks back home, within that week he found Versatile and they went and recorded the final version of “Life” Produced by Jim Jonsin (I just uploaded it back to JP’s myspace page…Listen to it). And sent the track back to Jim and Damon, within the next week he recorded the other two tracks that Jim gave him. So in the mean time, Jp makes a demo and submits it to the djs (Chris Holiday and Nick @ Night) over at 93 BLX in May of 2006. They start bumping the tracks around June and July of 2006 on the radio during the prime hours of their shows. Jp starts performing the track at shows along the Gulf Coast. Months later, maybe around August of 2006 JP gets an email from Jim Jonsin, saying “Man stop playing that track, Lil Wayne brought that beat from me”. What type of s### is that? Business? Ok, I understand money talks and Wayne is a star. Now its Nov. 2007 and Lil Wayne finally, two years after JP recorded it and exposed it to the Gulf Coast, releases the single. And to be honest, Lil Wayne did not do the track justice, and didn’t come harder than JP and Versatile on that track. 2 f##### years later he drops “PMW” ! If you wanna check it out you can find it on www.allhiphop.com under Mediazone. The industry is shady!
We, as local artists, have to work 10 times as hard, just to get heard by the industry. And then when you do get heard, 9 out of 10 times we get f##### over. Get ya s### copyrighted, trademarked, and if any Producer gives you a beat in your f**kin’ hand and says here it’s yours, spit over it. Get it in writing! Between the money we put into the professional recording and mixing of that track, promoting the song, it being played on the hottest radio station on the Gulf Coast, and that whole Miami trip, yeah we got f##### over!
Like I said, “I ain’t co-signing s**t!”
DEEMI? WHERE IS MY VIDEO?
So, I caught a jolt and wanted to see Deemi. I shared this with a few friends and nobody was able to give me the video to her new song On The Radio. Why? THERE IS NO VIDEO. Deemi, we love the song. For those that want to hear it click below. The video is just bootleg.

Theres nothing like good music. Despite what you may have heard, it is still out there (and not just in the form of Kanye West either). In the realm of neo-soul/R&B music certain names come to mind, and if Raheem DeVaughn hasnt been added to your list, he needs to be. DeVaughn packed New York Citys famous club S.O.B.s on Tuesday for a memorable concert. The audience filtered in about two hours before the show was to start quickly swelling the room to near full capacity. Despite his tardy entrance and impatient fans, DeVaughn took to the stage with a refreshingly coy enthusiasm. Minus his trademark cornrows, he opted for clean cut look, wasting no time and jumping right into his performance. The two hour set was a mixture of both new singles (off his soon to be released album Love Behind the Melody) previous singles and a sprinkle of some Marvin Gaye. DeVaughns performance was everything that an audience loves about an intimate setting. He was close enough to make the ladies think that he was actually singing directly to them. His friend, artist Paintbrush P, painted pictures of DeVaughn as he sang. P usually travels with Devaughn to many of his concerts providing his vibrantly colored paintings as an added bonus. A quick costume change in which DeVaughn emerged wearing a purple cape and crown was the only unnecessary point in an otherwise flawless performance. Of course everyone loves a song filled with more soul than you can sometimes bear, so the energy in the room was wonderful. Couples, friends, industry execs, and a few screen all rolled in to have a good time.Sweaty and in nothing but a tank top, DeVaughn ended the show with an extended performance of Guess Who Loves You More and You.” If the anticipation for his album wasnt already high, this performance more than raised the bar.
Whats happening everyone? Here we are as we welcome the end of another five days. From the beach house fire that killed seven college students in North Carolina to Dog the Bounty Hunters use of the N-word in reference to his sons girlfriend during a heated argument to rumored talks of bringing Kobe Bryant to the Chicago Bulls, it was a week of highs and lows. Congratulations go out to Mekhi Phifer and his fiancée Oni Souratha, who welcomed their first child on Tuesday (Oct. 30), and Jennifer Lopez, who is expecting her own bundle of joy, as confirmed by clothing designer Roberto Cavalli. And lets not forget the sounding boards for making sure I do what I do best. Next up…The Last Word for the week ending Nov. 2, 2007. 1. Amy Winehouse Makes Maxims Unsexiest Stars List Despite her reported battles with drugs, Amy Winehouse has had a good 2007 thanks to her critically acclaimed album Back to Black. But the troubled singer may not want to be included on the newest list from Maxim magazine. The publication has included Winehouse on its list of the worlds unsexiest women. The list, which is featured in the latest issue of Maxim, includes women from the world of movies, music, and television. Winehouse ranked number two on the list behind Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker. The rest of the top five consisted of Sandra Oh of Greys Anatomy, Madonna and Britney Spears. So what did it take for Winehouse to make the cut? According to Maxim, it was her “her openly hemorrhaging translucent skin, rat´s nest mane and lashes that look more like surgically attached bats.” Ill hold my tongue with this and say that beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder. No matter how sexy or unsexy that particular beauty may be, it is what it is. 2. The Temptations Take Name Battle to Court Members of Motowns legendary Temptations are bringing a dispute over the groups name to court. TMZ.com reports that Otis Williams, the only surviving member of the original Temptations, is suing former band members Glenn Leonard, Ali Woodson and Barrington Henderson for using the name “Temptations.” Williams claims the men dont have the right to use the name. In a lawsuit filed on Oct. 26, Williams alleges that he is the only person with rights to the name “The Temptations.” Leonard, Woodson and Henderson have been performing under the name “Legendary Lead Singers of the Temptations” and/or “The Temptations Reunion Show” since 2004. In addition to his former bandmates, Williams is suing managers who worked with the “Legendary Lead Singers of the Temptations,” as well as venues which promoted them. According to court documents, he claims that advertising used to promote the band was deceiving and hurt his ability to work as the Temptations. Williams is seeking the maximum amount of damages under the law, as well as interest on all damages awarded, legal fees, and any properties and assets obtained by the profits of the defendants’ infringing activity. 3. Kelis Parts Ways with Jive Looks like Kelis is without a recording home. Billboard.com reports that the singer was dropped from her contract with Jive Records. During her time at the label, Kelis released two albums, 2003’s Tasty and 2006’s Kelis Was Here. According Nielson Soundscan, Tasty sold 533,000 copies in the United States, while Kelis Was Here moved 157,000 copies to date. Although the Jive release is a setback, dont expect Kelis to stay on the inactive list. The singers manger revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she is working on an independent dance album with Gnarls Barkley/Goodie Mob member Cee-Lo Green, as well as auditioning for various film and TV roles and engaging in talks to host a Project Runway-esque show for VH1. And if that wasnt enough, Kelis is shopping a pop album around that is helmed by songwriter Guy Chambers. With all that hustling, its only a matter of time before all the boys come back to the yard to visit Kelis. Stay tuned. 4. Heidi Klum Is Not Ashamed About Seals Package Seal may be a little crazy, which suits his wife Heidi Klum just fine. But it wasnt the singers mind that got her attention. “I met him in a hotel lobby in New York City and he came in just from the gym and I was sitting there and I was, like, wow,” said Klum, who told talk show host Oprah Winfrey during a recent episode of her show that Seal was wearing a very tight pair of biker shorts. “And I pretty much saw everything. The whole package.” So was a it a case of too much information on Klums part? Apparently not, according to the supermodel and Project Runway host. “It is very strange, you trust her so much that you talk sometimes without realizing what you are saying,” Klum told People magazine about Oprah. “She has a spell in her eyeballs that when she looks at you, you are like, ‘Yes,'” “I know a lot of people talk about Seal’s bicycle shorts, but it is the truth,” continued Klum, who believes that honesty is the best policy. “That is what he was wearing the first time I met him and I was overwhelmed.” I guess now we actually know how Seal “sealed” the deal with the love of his life. Who says size isnt a factor in the game of love? 5. Naomi Campbell Gets Political with Hugo Chavez Anger and Naomi Campbell may go together like peanut butter and jelly, but the supermodel found a new focus for her aggression by visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez this week. According to the Associated Press, Campbell traveled abroad to attend a political rally promoting state programs for single mothers and visit government-funded housing projects on Wednesday (Oct. 31). Upon her arrival at the rally, Chavez warmly greeted Campbell while planting a kiss on her hand. Although he showed his soft side when he called Campbell “a very special woman,” Chavez snapped back to normal as he criticized President Bush for maintaining Washington’s 46-year trade embargo against Cuba. Politics wasnt the only thing on the models mind as she ended up praising Chavez’s health and education programs after a four-hour meeting Tuesday (Oct. 30) at the presidential palace. It was there that Campbell switched in to reporter mode when she interviewed Chavez for an unspecified publication. Campbell joins a string of celebrities who have recently visited Venezuela, including Danny Glover, Harry Belafonte, Kevin Spacey and Sean Penn. 6. American Gangster Makes Blackbusters DebutAs 98 percent of the Black female population heads to the local movie house to catch Denzel Washington in American Gangster, it seems that Blackbusters (or they as theyre properly known, bootleggers) may make it a little cheaper on the guys to catch the feature. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, high quality bootlegged DVD copies of American Gangster have already hit the street. The paper states that the film has been available since at least Wednesday at various file-sharing web sites on the Internet. American Gangster DVDs were being sold for $5 in Los Angeles. Officials at Universal say they arent sure how a copy of the movie leaked. American Gangster is the latest film that has fallen victim to the bootlegging craze, despite extensive security precautions studios have taken at pre-release screenings in theaters and watermark stamps on other copies of films to help identify pirates. Still the bootlegging of Washingtons latest flick has become an issue in light of the excellent quality of bootleg version. So fellas, what would you rather do? Pay $40 to see your lady swoon over Denzel earning another Oscar nod while shes sitting next you in the theater? Or $15 (the price of the bootleg and snacks) to see it all from the comfort of your own home? Who would you rather visit, Blackbusters or the movie theater chain in your neck of the woods? Between you and me, Id rather visit Blackbusters. Now thats “gangsta.” 7. Ving Rhames Takes a Few Punches for Sonny Liston Close to 10 years after playing boxing promoter Don King, Ving Rhames is stepping into the squared circle as fighter. The Hollywood Reporter states the actor has signed on to play world heavyweight boxing champion Sonny Liston in the biopic The Phantom Punch. The Robert Townsend-directed feature, which began production Monday (Oct. 29) in Toronto, will chronicle Listons rise in the boxing ranks as well as the single “phantom punch” he took from Cassius Clay (aka Muhammad Ali) which many believe was the beginning of the end for his career. Born to an Arkansas sharecropper, Liston was a trouble-prone kid who served time in prison for robbing a gas station and later for beating up a police officer. He found boxing as a way to gain respect and became world heavyweight champion in 1962. Despite his achievements in the ring, Liston is best remembered for the “phantom punch” that occurred two minutes into his 1965 fight against Ali Liston – who had seldom been knocked to his feet – went down from what was argued to be a felonious punch. Having Rhames star as Liston is nothing short of a perfect fit, according to Townsend. “The thing is that certain people are born to play certain roles and Ving has always gravitated toward Sonny Liston’s story,” the filmmaker told the Hollywood Reporter. “This is his baby and he’s giving birth to it. He’s already playing the character at so many levels.” 8. Keith Sweat Begs for the Holidays The holidays are always a time for family bonding, good food and gifts for all. And lets not forget a hint of romance as you and your significant other can cuddle up to sounds of Keith Sweat. Thats right, the singer is gearing up to spread some holiday cheer this season with his first CD holiday tunes, tilted A Christmas of Love. The nine track album will include the yuletide standard as “The Christmas Song,” as well as tracks such as “Under The Tree,” “Once A Year” and “It’s Christmas Again” all co-written by Sweat. As you can see. Keith is always looking for ways to take the begging game to that next level. So if you feel romantic or experience some holiday relationship drama, just put a little bit of Sweat in your CD player and make it last forever. After all, theres a right and a wrong to love under the mistletoe. Look for A Christmas of Love to hit stores on Nov. 20 and online at www.rhino.com.

DA BRAT RUMORS RUN WILD LIKE UNTAMED KIDS!
Da Brat rumors are running crazy. I heard some things outside of the official news story. Well, Da Brat got arrested at JDs Club 72 in Atlanta for allegedly hitting somebody in the head with a Malibu bottle. I heard the chicks name is Shyla and shes a real banger. So bangin that she was/is a cheerleader for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Well, from what I heard she now has a huge scar across her pretty face. Again this is just what I heard not whats been released. From what I heard, the people that work at JDs Club 72 sign confidentiality agreements so we probably wont get any rumors from employees. I wonder if that applies to legal cases?
Anyway, from what I heard, this is all over mistaken identity. Da Brat thought this Shyla babe was somebody else, somebody she had a beef with. Some of you might have heard like I did that Brat was trying to holla at her and it didnt go well. I dont know, but I think thats false. Anyway, what I think or hear doesnt even matter, does it? Another
rapper in legal trouble WOW is anybody sick of it the way I am?
What’s crazy is the party last night was a Halloween Party called SoSo Scary! I SEE!
