KANYE WEST’s latest fashion creations will hit the catwalk on the opening day of next month’s (Sep16) New York Fashion Week.
A day after the rapper and designer’s Saint Pablo tour stops off at Madison Square Garden, where he hosted the splashy debut of his Yeezy brand’s third season in February (16), West will help launch Fashion Week alongside a Tom Ford presentation and the opening of Cartier’s Fifth Avenue mansion.
Kanye will be hoping for less controversy than that which greeted the debut of Yeezy 3 after he made a last-minute decision to schedule its debut at the same time as other top designers’ events.
Though his decision ruffled feathers, the controversy didn’t seem to affect reviews or sales. West has released no details about the upcoming collection, bar a tweet released even before the debut of season three, in which he announced he was working on a kids’ line.
His three-year-old daughter North West has already sported several custom Yeezy pieces and it appears she would be an obvious muse for dad.
West signed a deal with Adidas earlier this year (Jun16), which will result in a line of Yeezy retail outlets hawking shoes, apparel and accessories, but it’s uncertain whether the sports giant will be producing this next collection.
Fashion fans can expect an event when Kanye unveils his latest creations – at the Madison Square Garden launch in February, his wife Kim Kardashian and members of her family turned out to cheer him on, all wearing items from the new line. The rapper also debuted his new album, The Life of Pablo, at that event. (CM-LO/WNWCWDW/KL)
