Killer Mike returned to the Grammy spotlight with his 2023 album Michael, sweeping three of the rap categories at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
His achievement marked a significant moment, as he took home the prestigious awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance, all accolades stemming from his work on Michael and its standout single “Scientists & Engineers,” which features collaborations with André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
Competing against a strong field of contenders, including Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, Nas’s King’s Disease III, and Travis Scott’s Utopia, Killer Mike emerged victorious.
In his acceptance speech, Killer Mike embraced the magnitude of his victory, proclaiming, “Atlanta, It’s A Sweep!” a nod to both his city’s vibrant music scene and his personal journey.
“You cannot tell me that you get too old, you can’t tell me it’s too late, you can’t tell me dreams come true. It is a sweep!” Killer Mike said.
This year’s success was particularly poignant, coming two decades after his first Grammy win in 2003 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his feature on Outkast’s “The Whole World.”
