Jay-Z
is taking his successes and investing. According to sources, Jay
has vouched for a new label, Carter Faculty.
The label, which will be run by Tyran Smith and Jay’s cousin,
Bryant Biggs will also be distributed through Def Jam.
Although
it is not clear what financial stake Jay has in the the label,
Smith said that he wasn’t a partner. The label will be a separate
entity from Roc-A-Fella and other holdings that Jay-Z has. Smith
currently manages Memphis Bleek, and has already signed the first
act to the label, Da
Ranjahz. Their
debut album, Build And Destroy should hit shelves in the middle
of 2001.
Jay-Z celebrated the number one
debut of The Dynasty:Roc La Familia with a celebrity bash
at Skateland in Northridge California.
