Rapper 50 Cent To Play Bank Robber in Gerard Butler’s “Den of Thieves”

50 HEADING TO THE BIG SCREEN

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent is joining actor Gerard Butler in crime thriller “Den of Thieves.”

The “In Da Club” hitmaker will play a bank robber in the film, which centres on a heist at the Federal Reserve Bank in Los Angeles and the police investigation that followed.

Butler, who will portray a crooked police officer, will produce the movie, while Christian Gudegast will direct.

“Den of Thieves” is slated to begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia next month (Jan17).

The news of 50’s new film role comes just days after the rapper announced he was done with his TV drama “Power” after it failed to win a single Golden Globes nomination.

He urged the writers on the show to kill off his character, because he had other things he wanted to do.

50, real name Curtis Jackson, made his plea on Monday – hours after “Power” was snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Taking to Instagram he wrote:

“I accept my series POWER was not intended to be a signature show for the network but it is the highest rated show. I know my audience very well, I’m done promoting this out side of contractual obligations. SEASON 4 KANAN MUST DIE, I got other s**t to do.”

50 Cent is an executive producer of the New York drama, which was recently renewed for seasons four and five by executives at U.S. cable network Starz.
