Evidently multi-platinum producer, song writer,
and recording artist Pharrell Williams just isn’t busy enough.
Last week, he and Roc-a-Fella tycoon Jay-Z shot
the video for “Frontin,” the lead single off of The Neptunes
highly anticipated sophomore album.
Titled, “The Neptunes & Star Trak present…The
Clones,” the album is something of a compilation and will feature cuts
from Jay-Z, Nas, Kelis, Ol’ Dirty Bastard aka Dirt McGirt, Busta Rhymes,
and others.
Slated to drop in early August, it will be one
of many releases for the burgeoning Star Trak label this year.
As for the song itself, “Frontin” is
one of two tracks off the album that are already receiving radio play nationwide.
The other is a remix of Clipse’s “Cot
Damn” which features Ab-Liva, Pharell, and Star Trek rapper Roscoe P. Coldchain.
The video will be directed by Paul Hunter who
has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez in the past.
In a recent interview with MTV regarding Kelis’
upcoming album, Williams expressed his excitement stating, “Her and Nas
did a song called “Popular Thug” together [for The Clones album”].
They’re making some great statements about themselves. It’s incredible.”
