Van Lathan Reportedly Fired From TMZ After Dispute With A Co-Worker

The entertainment reporter went viral in 2018 for owning Kanye West.

(AllHipHop News) According to multiple reports, Van Lathan is no longer employed by TMZ after the television personality was fired from the tabloid news outlet. Lathan apparently got into an argument with conservative-leaning co-worker Michael Babcock which eventually led to his termination.

An article by Page Six claims Lathan and Babcock had an on-air argument over politics about a week and a half ago, but the clash was edited out of the TMZ Live show. Lathan allegedly confronted Babcock in the newsroom following the taping of the segment.

“It’s looking like tomorrow is going to suck. . We good up there God? Okay, cool Just checking,” tweeted Lathan on Monday night. He returned to Twitter a few hours later to add, “I’m okay. Promise you guys. Seriously.”

Lathan made national news when he directly pushed back against Kanye West’s infamous “slavery was a choice” comment right after Ye ranted on the subject during an interview with TMZ. Besides contributing to Harvey Levin’s entertainment website, the Baton Rouge native is the host of the Red Pill podcast which has featured conversations with Master P, Amber Rose, Tory Lanez, Tyrese Gibson, Charlamagne Tha God, Joe Budden, Ava DuVernay, and other celebrities.
