(AllHipHop News) The Black Eyed Peas have been sued from planiffs that allege that the Hip-Hop/pop group copied I Got a Feeling,” and “Boom Boom Pow, two of their most popular hits.
Both suits were filed on Thursday November 28 in federal courts in Santa Ana and Los Angeles.
A Texas-based songwriter named Bryan Pringle filed the Santa Ana suit and charges his song, “Take a Dive,” was taken deliberately and re-christened I Gotta Feeling.
The Los Angeles lawsuit is a refilling of a previous claim from Chicago rapper Phoenix Phenom (nee Ebony Latrice Batts), and her producer Manfred Mohr. They allege that the Black Eyed Peas infringed on their song Boom Dynamite and made it into Boom Boom Pow.
Like the lawsuit filed in January of 2010, Batts claims that The Black Eyed Peas stole portions of her song “Boom Dynamite” and reused them in their worldwide hit single, “Boom Boom Pow.”Both Pringle and Batts are now represented by Dean A. Dickie of Miller Canfield, Ira Gould of Gould Law Group and George Hampton IV of HamptonHolley LLP. “Both Complaints allege that the Defendants UMG Recordings, Interscope Records and members of the Black Eyed Peas engaged in a pattern and practice of intentional copyright infringement with respect to the unlawful copying of songs of unknown or lesser-known artists. It is public knowledge that there have been multiple copyright infringement cases or claims brought against the Black Eyed Peas within the last year, and they are referred to in the Complaint,” said Dickie. “A simple listening to the songs will expose them as having been copied and being ‘substantially similar’– the legal standard in copyright infringement cases.”
UMG Recordings and Interscope Records are included in the Los Angeles complaint.
Both lawsuit request damages, past and future profits, credits and royalty payments.

While cardigans in his day were usually knitted from wool or cotton, you can find updated styles today made of fabrics like fleece and polyester. With added twists like military-inspired details, bold graphics and embellishments, the cardigan is going strong into fall/winter 2010.

(AllHipHop News) A highly anticipated performance in Australia featuring Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad has been canceled, after the promoter of the event was scammed by a phony booking agent. In August, Peace Music made announcements for the performances, which was to feature the two Tribe Called Quest members for a date in Sydney on November 27th.Peace Music said they were victims of a scam artist who has already duped three other promoters throughout Europe. It has very recently come to light the agent for the tour has grossly misrepresented the artists involved, and misappropriated payments made to him on behalf of the artists, Peace FM said in a statement. Despite meeting with management in Australia in August, the fact that the tour dates were little more than an elaborate scam did not come to light until very recently. On further investigation Peace discovered that the agent in question, one James Richardson of Abstrakt Visions Entertainment, had defrauded three different European promoters in connection with misrepresenting Phife earlier in the year, and that he appeared to be little more than a career con man.”Peace Music said that despite their best efforts, they could not negotiate a legitimate date with the pair’s management, so the decision was made the scrap the date, which will be replaced with a performance by Pharoahe Monch, Jean Grae and Boogie Blind. The new show will take place at the Metro Theatre in Sydney on November 26th. Ticket holders to the Phife/Ali Shaheed Muhammad show are being offered a free refund, or a two-for-1 deal to the new show featuring Pharoahe Monch and company. “Peace would like to express our most sincere regret to all those who purchased tickets in connection with this tour and look forward to presenting some of the worlds best hip hop artists this summer, including De La Soul and Mos Def, the company said in a statement.
