(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop mogul Damon Dash, rapper Mos Def and producer Ski Beatz are being sued by rap/funk/soul label TufAmerica, over a compilation that was released last year.
TufAmerica filed a lawsuit against Damon Dash, Dante Smith (Mos Def) and David Willis (Ski Beatz) in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, on Wednesday (October 12).
The lawsuit claims Mos Def illegally sampled the songs “Hook & Sling Part 1” and “Hook & Sling Part 2,” illegally.
The sample was used in the track titled “24 Hour Karate School” and the accompanying video for the single, which was given away at the 24hrkarateschool.com website.
The lawsuit claims that the 24 Hour Karate School recordings were made available for download without the proper permission.
TufAmerica is seeking, compensatory and punitive damages, in addition to an injunction barring any further distribution of the 24 Hour Karate School mixtape.

DRAKE RESPONDS TO JAY-Z and PUSHA T DISS
Last night, Drake was on Funk Master Flex’s radio show and he did his fair share of responding to disses from Jay and Pusha-T. Obviously, Jay’s diss was towards Drake’s “brother” Lil Wayne. Anyway, he answered the questions pretty well, and Jay will still be his “mentor,”I bet. Scooped from MissInfo.tv.
Flex: Did you know that Wayne was going to go at Jay-Z on “It’s Good”…
Drake: I’m not gonna say that I didn’t hear the song before it went out….Wayne recently said I can never feel like I created a monster in Drake because I’m his boss….I’m a soldier for Wayne. I just did what I’m supposed to do, I delivered a verse. And he does with the song after that is completely up to him…
It’s silly to say that the initial jab wasn’t a jab, it’s silly to say that [Hov’s] initial comment wasn’t completely directed at that situation….and Wayne is never afraid to step up to the plate, did what he did back and that’s what hip hop is about. I have the utmost respect for Jay, I’m not really involved in that situation. He’s been a great mentor in my career. And Wayne is a brother to me…
Flex: Miss Info had pointed it out that Pusha T’s did a freestyle that had some jabs. Did you take offense to it?
Drake: Not really….I’ve never really had any interaction with Pusha T. So for him to diss me would be purely issues that he’s having with himself…We’ve met but we’ve always been cordial. I’m a fan of the Clipse, I say it in interviews….I’ve never really had an issue with him. But it’s a frustrating time for alot of people right now, I get it. So if it’s directed at me, just make it a little more direct next time. I’m up for whatever. I’m didn’t take offense…..
EPIC WIN OF THE DAY
You love this, how Cam’ron some how managed to make his way up to freakin’ Jeopardy! Somebody up there has a real sense of humor!!!
This is a question for all media, record labels, and video/radio outlets that play Hip-Hop music.
Mrs. Sylvia Robinson and her late husband Mr. Joe Robinson formed one of the most successful R&B Record labels in 1969 – All Platinum Records.
The label featured R&B artists like The Moments, Brother to Brother, and The Rimshots, featuring Grammy nominated artist/writer/producer Jonathan Williams
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson were also pioneers who also established Hip-Hop as a lucrative, commercial enterprise.

In 1979, Mrs. Robinson concentrated on running their Sugarhill Records label, which also became instrumental in the emergence of Hip-Hop music as a format.
She was one of the first, if not the first, successful person to own a Hip-Hop record label, aside from just being the producer.
On Tuesday (October 11th), Mrs. Robinson was laid to rest at Community Baptist Church in Englewood, New Jersey.
No burial: a mausoleum, a white and gold casket & horse and carriage courtesy of her three sons Joey, Leland, and Rhondo Robinson, who spared no expense.
We give it up to Greg Walker of Icon Media Inc. for all his hard work and to former Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes for the nice words about Mrs Robinson.
Let me tell you a little bit about the people that showed respect and love. To all those that did not come, you truly were not missed.
It was disrespectful that there was no mainstream media covering the funeral. You all can write about beefs and arguments – that must be more important to you as news.
MTV, VH1, BET, AND FUSE, MAGAZINE OUTLETS, WEBSITES: YOU GUYS ARE PLAYING HIP-HOP BECAUSE OF HER, AND YOU COULD NOT SEND ANYONE TO COVER THIS STORY?
I hope, when the day comes and it’s time for your “Pillow Talk” with God, that you won’t be treated the way Mrs. Robinson was treated.
You should all pay homage.
These are some of the people that showed respect and paid homage to the Queen, Sylvia Robinson. We are going to miss you, but you will never be forgotten:
Mickey Bentson, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Scorpio, Lil’ Mo, Melissa Morgan, Billy Brown of The Moments, Greg Walker, Angela Winbush, Melba Moore, Ron Grant, DJ Break Out, Lil Rodney C., Jazzy Jeff of The Funky Four PLUS 1, Angie Stone, Busy Bee, Love Bug Starkie, Mike C., Reggie Reg, shubee, Chuck Chillout, Vincent Davis, Doug E. Fresh, Kedar Massenberg, Big Bub., J.T. Taylor, Lonnie Youngblood, Vaughn Harper, Big John Platt (EMI), David Kasis (Universal Business Affairs), Rev. Al Sharpton, Juelz, Kid Capri, Water Bed Kev, Smitty, Big Wayne, Sal from Fever, Cherl Da Pearl from Sequence, Iris (Virgin), Eazy Mike from Furious 5, Mark Green, King Yoda, Mike and Wise and legendary photographer, Ronnie Wright.
These people truly have love for the family who set the blueprint for Hip-Hop.

VYBZ KARTEL WANTS YOU TO GO WHITE LIKE HIM!
What in tarnation is wrong with this dude, Vybz Kartel? The guy has a murder rap and now he’s promoting lightening your skin for all men of color. He’s launched a line of skin bleaching cream called Vybz.

According to a press release, his line is actually a “skin-brightening” cream. SMH! I cannot believe this fool is promoting this self-hate in a commercial product. Anyway, it will certainly fail. Too Black, Too Strong!!!! Anyway, he still has that murder charge out there. I don’t think this is a good look for him…for anybody!
(AllHipHop News) West Coast veteran rapper Frost, better known as Kid Frost, reported on his Twitter account last night (October 12) that he suffered a mild stroke and was briefly hospitalized at Methodist Hospital of Southern California.
“I’m warning all of my homies with diabetes take care of yourself. I just suffered a stroke and landed in ICU @ methodist” said the rapper around 8 pm early yesterday evening.
About an hour later Frost updated his Twitter with pictures of himself in a hospital bed.

(AllHipHop News) Cam’ron has formed a new joint venture with Queen Latifah and business partner Shakim Compere, that will produce a new flick starring the Harlem, New York, rapper.
The new company, name KFU Productions, is a new joint venture between Cam and his longtime partner Jacob York’s Killa Films and Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Films.
The two companies have joined forces to produce a new movie titled “Percentages” that will feature Cam’ron in the starring role.
The movie centers around two New York hustlers on the run from a drug deal gone bad.
“Ant” and “Carter” move south to Miami. The pair are not content to lay low with family, so the long time partners quickly build a new empire in the world of credit fraud.
As the business grows, so does the unwanted attention from law enforcement and Miami’s most notorious criminals.
“Cam did the story, and then we brought in a writer to really tighten the script,” Jacob York told AllHipHop.com. “The movie was originally supposed to be the follow up to Killa Season, but we decided to make a brand new movie since the script was so good.”

Cam has the lead role in “Percentages,” which also boasts a number of high-profile co-stars, including Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Donnell Rawlings, Melinda Williams, K.D. Aubert, Omar Gooding, Robert Wisdom, and others.
The movie is being shot on location predominantly in Miami, as well New York, where Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere recently relocated their Flavor Unit company.
“Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere have a soundstage here in Miami and this is first film that they are developing on the new soundstage, in conjunction with the KFU Production company,” Jacob York told AllHipHop.com. “Our aim is to develop high quality film projects over the next 24 months.”
Additionally, Cam’ron will create and oversee the soundtrack to “Percentages,” which is slated for a nationwide theatrical in 2012.
