(AllHipHop Rumors) While no one can deny Mona Scott-Young’s contributions to music and television, many feel that Safaree has fallen and bumped his head with his recent comparison.
Nicki Minaj’s ex-turned-reality-star, Safaree Samuels, said that Mona is this generation’s Oprah.
“When I had the world against me without even knowing who I was you were the only person who gave me a fair shot.. didn’t judge didn’t assume didn’t care who I was with or not. Had to be 1 of the darkest times in my life.. imagine helping build an empire walking away from it with nothing and having everyone shun you just because you’re not the bigger star. IDGAF what any1 has to say @monascottyoung you are out here saving lives and entertaining millions across the world.. how could you hate on a black woman for doing that!! This is our oprah wether you wanna admit it or not!!! Take it how you want.. it’s facts!!! *sidenote* I’m booked and busy.. love you!! #stuntgang,” said Safaree.
Safaree had an emotional rollercoaster of a career, and whatever “career” he had definitely seemed to go downhill after he and Nicki split.
Safaree took to his Instagram to thank television producer Mona Scott-Young for saving his life and the lives of others with her various platforms.
He credited Mona with giving his career a significant boost during one of the darkest times in his life.
No one could negate that Mona has given a platform to several individuals to tell their stories and at least TRY to make something of themselves. It’s when Samuels compared Mona to Oprah that folks felt like he crossed the line.
As long as Love & Hip Hop has been on air, folks have accused Mona of exploiting negative, over-exaggerated, stereotypes & ignorance, and because of this, some felt that she’s no Oprah.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Mona is the Oprah of our day?
