Popular video game publisher Electronic Arts

announced this past Friday that the soundtrack to its “NBA Live 2003,” has been

certified platinum, making it the best selling video game soundtrack ever.

The soundtrack, featuring Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes, was released last October,

packaged along with the game on a separate CD. Sales of the basketball game

have reached 1.2 million, bolstering slumping record industry sales.

Next, EA will release “Def Jam Vendetta” a Mortal Kombat-esque fighting game

that features 10 artists from the hip-hop flagship label. Newly signed Def Jam

artist Ghostface Killah and budding superstar Joe Budden will join marquee names

Redman, Method Man and Ludacris on the roster.

Noticeably absent from the game is LL Cool J,

whose contractual obligations with Def Jam were fulfilled with the released

of his album “10.”

Fans can expect the video game to hit April 1.
