Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston Was The Greatest…Why Did She Have To Die To Be Recognized?

We come from nothing. Nobody is perfect. But once you become a star, they never truly recognize you until you are dead. Whitney Houston had an amazing funeral. What a supporting cast of stars, politicians, community leaders, and business execs that attended and shared their love. But where were they when she was alive?

I’m asking the world some questions, and I just want you to think about what I’m saying. Maybe some of you asked the same questions.

  • If Whitney was alive and had a birthday on February 18, 2012 instead of a funeral, how many celebrities would have showed up?
  • Do you think Kevin Costner would have made time and said half of the nice things he said while Whitney was alive?
  • With all of the money Whitney made for Arista Records, if she asked for some financial assistance to help put Bobby Kristina through college, do you think they would have helped her?
  • With everything Whitney had been through and overcome, if she wanted to do a program to help girls, what TV stations would have aired it as quickly as they aired her funeral?
  • Now they call Whitney a Legend, the Greatest, the Voice. How many told her that while she was alive?
  • If Whitney were alive, how many of us would be waiting to see and support the upcoming movie, Sparkle?
  • If Whitney were alive, would the Grammy’s have paid the same attention to her?
  • Radio stations are playing Whitney’s music, her videos are in rotation, people are buying her albums, but who are the ones truly benefiting from it now?
Some say Clive Davis was her best friend. Just for the record, I’ve been in the music business for over 20 years. You are never friends with the people who are cutting your checks, because they’re always trying to figure out how to not pay you or pay you at the last minute.

We should give people flowers while they’re alive. They can’t do anything with them when they’re gone.
  • Trusttee

Only from one of the greatest to do it – damn P, continue to speak the truth.

  • Very well said Percy !!

  • Master P was telling the truth…..

  • TheBoxcarHobo

Thank you P. I couldn’t have said it better myself. All these well wishing sheep were the same ones making jokes about her addictions before. Fake ass people make me sick.

  • Lord Saltsworth McGinty III

We spend too much time worshiping celebrities IMO.

  • rep87

Master P laid it out there for the world to see heres a guy who has lived that life and knows the truth behind the entertainment bizness well said Master P

  • Gucciboi

Master P is the Greatest it’s impossible for anyone to even do what he’s accomplished in today’s rap game.

    •  If you only knew how many people Master P ripped off to accomplish what he did, I think you’d rethink your statement.

  • Thats true,, to many celebs speaking at the service, that should be left for the fam, its all just show and tell its on tv,  i wasnt hearing anything good about her the last few years, they were just making fun of her, i would have rather heard Bobby speak about her than the others,,, trust me when mariah or aretha die they are going to say the same things greatest voice ever this and that

  • master p broke thru when there was alot of great competition and he made his own mark. master p had fans buying no limit albums every month for about 3 years straight. master p started the hiphop straight to dvd. master p had a formula for all those albums: the solja song, the hood song, the club song, the sad song, the weed song…

master p was a smart business man who signed top free agents. master p re-invented his brand numerous times and was still successful.

i can go on, but i just wanted to say that while he’s still alive.

    • rep87

You are correct on Master P dont forget unlike majority of rap artist are getting pennies off their album sales while Master p was getting the most off his and true he had clothing line movies to dvd and was sporting his logo around his neck first he set the trend that all the others followed so dont hate on Master P trust this guy has dealt with this wicked industry a long time and hes been one hell’ve bizness man phones etc  and his charity work speaks for itself

    • msann1473

and now he has to do things like this to stay relevant. Most of you are probably fans of people like soilja boy and and Rihanna so you wouldn’t recognize real talent if it bit you in your FACE. She has remained relevant with ever REAL FAN she had. I bet Mrs Cissy would much rather have her daughter here and alive. I bet Bobbi Kristina would rather be lying next to her mother just cuz right now. I loved every bit of the service and you all sound like these bitter no God having other people. That funeral was about church. Had the media not told me, the only celebs I would have known about where the ones on program. She said herself Clive was like a father to her. As for his question about school for BK. He gave her a 10 album 100 MILLION dollar contract POST her drug problem. he knew he was taking a risk. I don’t doubt that he loved that woman they made each others careers. P just said a little about his own character talking about people not wanting to pay you. That couldn’t have been their relationship becasue she was with him from the very first album to the very last. That is rare in the entertainment industry so there had to be love between them

  • She was recognized, she was honored at the BET honors in 2010 and did a wonderful interview letting people know and  understand what she went through with Oprah in 2009.  And she has a new movie coming out in August 2012, and she was with Clive Davis right before she died.  when she was ready to give up he was there.   But at the end of the day no matter who is there and isn’t there, GOD is and she knew him well.

    • newtothis2012

      BROWNSUGAR JS,

She received LITTLE recognition.  I have never heard so much admiration for Whitney until now.   All of a sudden “she’s the greatest female singer to have ever evolved.”

Also, can you substantiate the statement “she knew God well?”   I am not judging Whitney. I am imperfect and fall from grace often just like everyone else. However, was there something about Whitney’s lifestyle that showed “she knew God well?”   Many people go around quoting scripture and have Bibles in their possession.  Yes, she did that.  However, the Bible also states that “the demons believe, but yet tremble.”   Again, yes, she had scriptural knowledge, but in no way was she serving God or living a life pleasing to Him.

  • Is a fake ass society we live in nobody truly got love for you unless your isolated in prison for being a drug lord with street rep or dead but while they where alive nobody acknowledges there existence…

  • AlbertoRipRon

Master P, from the bottom of my heart…please shut the **** up!!!  This cornball is always saying something stupid yo.  From “uhhhh na-na-na” to “Why did she have to die to be recognized? This dummy-Whitney was loved, respected and recognized by many for a VERY long time.  Yes there were some black marks with her marriage to Bobby and the drug problems but before and after that, people loved Whitney. Even during that BS.   Every time some big story break through, Master P got something to say. And most of the time, it comes off as a bandwagon hopper.  I hope you didn’t crush the ankles b. Just shut up dude.

All that spamming to knock down peeps comments is whacker than your momma’s hair piece yo.  This fool talking about people didn’t appreciate her till she died.  What?  Shut up P for real yo…you just a corny dude.

And what truth was out there b?  What truth did this man say?  Master P just trying to keep his name relevant.  Didn’t he do this crap with Oprah Winfrey, trying to confront T.I.,  about his usage of the word “a female dog”?  But was a Makaveli impersonating, fake dope dealer, Drug movie theme jacking, fake dude who fooled the world with clothes that were copied directly from Ralph Lauren??  Shut up dude, you just as dumb as this cornball for real.

I’m just wondering. Can this idiot suggest some things we “should” have done to show more appreciation to Whitney? Write more fan letters? Bought more albums? Drop roses in front of her like she the queen of Zemundah? Tell me that Master P, what else we should have done to shown our appreciation????? People were already down to see Sparkle you idiot. Of course her death will cause a bigger turnout, no different than us looking at photos of our lost loved ones and having a sentimental moment. Smh. Sound like Christopher Columbus “discovering” the new world but thinking its India

  • Dennis Holland

Master P is telling the truth. During Whitney drug trouble up until her death where was the so called celeb friends and fans? No where to be found. It’s funny how her recently release albums didn’t sell but when she died her albums are #1 on itunes and etc . Same thing happened to MJ people turned the back on them but when they died they are loved again.

  • Overall, she got souled out and exploited. Maybe if black’s wake up and stop  worshipping all these fake hollyweird types it might help black poor people get free.Look how many black super stars  connected with hollyweird have gotten hooked on drugs, dranking or some other crazy social behavior and black’s in mass still want to chase after and be like them. it’s a mad joke on the rest of  real black people.Real afrikan centered culture could have kept this sister alive and well. But once she got tangled up in all this hollyweirdo type activity this is the end result.
The lesson is ” Don’t Believe the Hype “

    • Afrikan centered culture?  Woooooooooooow, from the begining as history shows blacks have never truly stuck together—i mean “afrikan centered culture” helped start this countrys slave business. In fact it was most blacks who poked fun at Ms. Houston in her unfortunate drug addictions.  I just really need to know where this ‘Real afrikan centered culture” exist so that i can tell friends about it.  Lord knows there are too many suffering blacks out here for this hidden society not to be known at least to the rich and famous blacks.

The Answer is no. If you are alive and maintaining whether good or bad you are carrying your own weight. It’s when your journey is finished do people recognize your impact on loved ones. Everyone has their journey. Besides incarceration you can’t stop someone from doing what they want. The real question is… what is “having it all?”. Perhaps if Whitney stayed an ordinary girl from Illtown & Brick City she’d still be here maybe as Choir Director

I don’t feel that any of the points He made are valid. He is speaking as a complete outsider. Had he been in the family or at least in the immediate circle, some of those questions may have answers. Funerals are a way to say goodbye and a way to send you home to your maker. Nothing happened any different in that church that happens in any other black church during a funeral, with exception to the celebs. My grandmother’s funeral was just as impactful in our little small town. There were business leaders and local celebs and I thank them all for being there. I’m usually cool with P but he needs to stay in his lane on this one. He just sound bitter becasue no one wants to watch anything he’s in anymore because as an actor or rapper for that matter he will never be mistaken for one of the greats even after his death. RIP Whitney and stop hating P!

she was honored , when people distance themselves, its usually because they do not know how to approach a particular topic, she also appeared to be proud, would not ask for outside help, kept her battles and struggles to herself.the press and public, put that woman through hell many times.when your profession is not fun anymore, whats the point.?, she wanted to enjoy her life, but the pressure of music, charts, top hits, became her misery. now she lies in peace, one who’s voice with passion,is silenced. the public will remember her voice, but they will also remember, the circumstances which under she passed, like so many before her. Her being,is now with GOD,her legacy here. I only hope her daughter, can have the total support she needs at this time, it will be very difficult for her emotionally and it will come in waves of deep emotion. we can help whitney now, by,leaving her daughter out of the press. But they have already begun to taunt her. Laws need to be stricter, The press, bloggers, news really need to understand the damage that they cause as a result of their information. They take the 1st ammendment, to the extreme, which can be very cruel.

true we have to admire each other while we are still here….for some reason the society of which we live now seems to be obsessed with death. Mostly all of the t.v. shows are centered around death, now society is  saying within the music industry that “in order to be great and sell more records you have to die” which is absurd.  With that in mind.. some people within society (some who may have low self esteem) will take that concept and run with it thinking that there life is no longer valued and will be willing to die just to go down in history as a person who was of importance. ….Master P u did a wonderful job on this article!

god take all when he is ready. where were you. you have to say the rich stays with the rich. the poor one who make you rich and you forget all about where you came from. What have you done for the poor people in america. You donated to country unknown and do not think about the black that made you. You celebrate with the rich and not the poor. We as the poor cared very much for whitney and loved her so much. Only if you knew if we could have been invited as a friend to all her event we would have been there. You are her circle of rich friend where were you in a time of need. Master P you need to think more before you talk. Who will be at your side, YOUR FAN. Not your rich so called friend.
