50 Cent Compares His New Deal To Birdman’s Cash Money Records Deal

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent probably became the biggest independent Hip Hop artist with his new deal at Caroline/Capitol/UMG and is following in the footsteps of another great independent businessman. For the first time since he announced his departure from Interscope Records, 50 Cent discusses details of his new deal and how it was supposed to happen.

According to his recent interview with Forbes, 50 Cent says that his deal at Caroline/Capitol/UMG is similar to Birdman’s Cash Money Records deal with Universal Music Group. Birdman’s Cash Money Records gives only “7% of wholesale per album to Universal in exchange for distribution and support” according to the article.

50 Cent still owed Interscope Records one more record under his contract but was able to leave the label without making the album or paying Interscope. 50 says usually this rarely happens for artists, but due to his relationship with Interscope powerhouses, Eminem and Dr. Dre, 50 is a “special case”:

I’m a special case and situation. It’s also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money.

The biggest difference between 50 Cent’s Interscope deal and his Caroline/Capitol/UMG deal is the creative control over his release of new music and music videos. 50 says with Carolione/Capitol/UMG “it’s having the ability to do that versus, ‘It’s out of the question.'”

  • Black Jay

It sounds good if it works. 50 could make paper if all mechanisms perform as they should. But the overall driver of the biz is album sales. If 50 doesn’t sell, the machine shuts down.
THE TRUE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 50 AND CASH MONEY IS THIS… Cash Money was on top when they got that deal. 50 Cent is not. He has no crew. He hasn’t moved big units recently . He’s been out of the game for a minute (off the charts). And he has a lot of side deals to contend with.
I hope it works for him. But if those sales don’t come in, it’s a wrap. I still predict one album and retire.

GM BJ, See they on ya already. Not really a 50cent fan. Hella of a songwriter tho. Like a few of his song. He should be able to go platium in NY alone. I think his miss the limelight in the rap game. He probably read the Blog hearing how he people say he fell off. But once u reach the top, it will never happen again. But he do alright tho, just not the big sales he once had.

      • Black Jay

Lol! Yep they on me early. Hahahaha….. But it’s cool. Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one. I try to keep it moving. Most of these dudes are fans and don’t look at things analytically. So they get emotional. I’m not saying I’m not a fan of certain artists. But I try to look at things based on what’s best to push the culture forward.

I do wish 50 well. Don’t get me wrong on that. I do. He has an opportunity to truly reinvent himself. Not too many people get that second chance. So on that level it’s good.

      • superh8

On some real sh*t, thanks man. You’re doing an awesome job.

      • “…Go platinum in NY alone” That was a knee slapper.

    • Anselmo Melchor

No, Cash Money has always had this deal. Even before, Eminem came out. Thats why 50 says its a deal similar to Cash Money’s. And they didn’t exactly hit big until Tha Crater 2 came out, they were well known but not big.

      • Black Jay

No diss to you but do your homework bro. The “Old” Cash Money got their deal during a time when they were definitely poppin’. Juvenile, Hot Boys and B.G. was their squad. That deal that 50 is speaking of came from Universal. So yeah…. They were well above 50’s current status in popularity. No doubt.

Really can’t figure out how anybody can think Fif will lose on this type of deal – maybe HE won’t be a big seller but now he can produce and distribute other artists and there’s always a new artist to bring out – mean while Fif making movies, doing boxing promotions, etc. The man make money in his sleep while people dreaming about having money just wasting they typing skills to get on blogs & hate on him – but he can thank the haters because they help keep him relevant just like the fans do

  • Chris

Folk actin’ like 50 Cent goin’ independent was a power play. 50 went independent because that was his only option. If independence was so important to him, he wouldn’t have signed with Interscope in the first place. Get ya’ paper, but stop bullsh*ttin’ the people.

    • Anselmo Melchor

The point is he gets to make his music more agressive abd less radio-friendly to appeal mainly to hip-hop heads. And by doing ao he gets more money than the people who distribute his products.

      • Chris

The point is, he’s no longer the money maker he was in the past and that’s why Interscope sent him on his way. This has nothing to do with music. It’s about profits, and 50 Cent is no longer a profitable artist. It sucks, but that’s what it is.

      • JaffarR

50 Cent is not profitable? I’m sorry man, but once two of your albums go DIAMOND, one goes double platinum, and one goes Gold, not to mention numerous platinum singles, it’s hard to consider yourself as “non-profitable”. Yes, I agree, 50 has lost major appeal since a decade ago, but that doesn’t mean that he still won’t sell records if the right moves were made. If you look at the line-up of artists at Interscope, 50 is by FAR the most profitable than everyone besides Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar- who is only profitable now, and will probably NEVER be as profitable as 50 Cent was. Plus they signed artists like Chief Keef and John Conner, who will probably not even see Gold status.

50 Cent does what he wants, and that’s amazing. He WANTED to leave Interscope, and he did. And the best part about it, he didn’t lose a dime. He still owed them one album which is $30 million in royalties. But he didn’t have to cough it up cause he’s 50 Cent. Interscope didn’t “send him on his way”. 50 went out like a boss.

      • Chris

You’re talking about the past. I’m talking about the present. Presently, 50’s musical endeavors are not profitable. No hate. That’s just fact.

      • 50 has more power and creative control over there. this isnt no koch deal.

  • Black Jay

One thing I think people are overlooking on this 50 Cent move is how “Pimp” his exit strategy was. Who is going to give up a 30 Million album selling act to an independent? No company does that! Bad attitude or not, YOUR ASS AIN’T GOING NOWHERE UNTIL WE’VE EXHAUSTED ALL REVENUE FROM YOU…… Unless you’re 50 Cent.

50 did some serious “Guns & Butter” moves to get out of his contract. 50 may have a good relationship with Eminem, but with Dr. Dre and Jimmy that’s another story. But check it… The way 50 got out of his contract was fortifying his position with powerful weapons of persuasion. He has the internet. He has the radio. He has the money. He has the headphone company. And most importantly….HE HAS THE REPUTATION OF CAUSING DESTRUCTION WHEN YOU CROSS HIM.

Having those tools places him above the level of disgruntled employee. Unlike Buck, Yayo, and LLoyd, 50 Cent was not to be f*cked with on the corporate side. And so Jimmy, Dr. Dre and Eminem really had no choice but to honor his request. And that was the only dope thing about this move. It puts on display POWER AT IT’S HIGHEST DEGREE AND SHOWS WHAT ALL RAPPERS SHOULD BE DOING TO PROTECT THEIR INTERESTS. 50 left like a “G”. No doubt.

Now is this move a good one? I’ve let my position be known on that. It’s a huge negative for 50 and 50 will retire after one album.

But this move, based on how he pulled it off, was impressive as f*ck!

    • JaffarR

I agree with everything you said, besides the fact that it’s a big negative for 50, and he will retire after one album. The way I see it, 50 made this move BECAUSE he was tired of the failures. He came out with so many singles that failed to create a spark because of zero support from Interscope and no promotion. He’s been wanting to put out a lot of new music but because of Interscope, wasn’t able to. Now from a music standpoint, this is a great thing. 50 can put out as much music he wants, how he wants, when he wants. And the fans should expect nothing but great things. However, from a sales standpoint, it’s debatable on whether or not it’s a good move. Cause remember, his last release WITH Shady/Aftermath/Interscope – “Before I Self Destruct”, only did 160K first week, and failed to go platinum. So who’s to say that his next release with the label wouldn’t flop either, also considering a series of flopping singles. 50 is a genius businessman, and if he makes the right marketing and promotion moves, e.g. performing at big sports events, paying the hot radio stations more to play his music, commercials, etc., this might be the best thing that happened to 50 since the Vitamin Water deal. Or if he doesn’t, then it’s quite possible that no one in America will even know a 50 Cent album is on the way.
I guess only time will tell.

      • Black Jay

I disagree on “The Reasons He Left”. Interscope “rightfully” didn’t push his product. The truth of the matter is that 50 Cent had become a bully. Let me provide a list of people he disrespected. I’m into analyzing hip hop sh*t so don’t think I stay at home with a “I HATE 50 CENT” sign on my wall. Hahahahaha…..

        Jimmy Iovine,
        Oprah Winfrey
        Fat Joe
        Lil Wayne
        Nas,
        Jadakiss,
        French Montana
        Jay Z,
        Diddy
        DJ Khaled
        Beyonce,
        Master P,
        LLoyd Banks
        Dr. Dre,
        Cam’ron
        The Game,
        Rick Ross
Kanye West (50 Cent actually showed support for George Bush instead of Kanye.)
        Ja Rule

And that doesn’t even count all of the people. If I go into the streets the list gets 50 deep. Now my grandmother used to say, if you have more than 5 enemies in the world, the problem is you. The one common denominator of all of the people on this list is MONEY AND FANS. How do you market someone after he’s alienated himself? I mean, come on! Oprah is the richest black person in America! There’s no telling who she has in her roledex. How you gonna diss the people that’s putting out your records? For real? You gonna diss your own CEO (Jimmy Iovine)? You gonna diss the producer that gave you the greatest single of your life (Dr. Dre)?

Now before you think I’m hating… think about that list. How could ANY ONE ON EARTH BLAME INTERSCOPE FOR SHELVING HIS PRODUCTS? Curtis Jackson hurt 50 Cent. Nobody else.

I still bang some of his sh*t. I’m a fan of the music. But the man himself leaves much to be desired.

      • andone

thought about the list… only person that i wish wasnt on it is banks, other than that they all a bunch of @ss kissing celebs(minus jada, nas and master p)… if they cant handle the truth then thats their problem, honesty isnt much to ask for and is well worth defending… ppl should be called out on their faults and interference if it effects you, theres nothing wrong wit that… ppl act like he should have let everything slide and not speak his peace, thats jus not realistic or acceptable imo… certain things have had a negative impact on his status on the music scene but not on his intergrity… it comes down to integrity man if u cant see that then u need to take another look!

      • Black Jay

I hear what you’re saying but….. If it’s just about the rapping, 50 could’ve just stayed on the street corner and jumped in a couple of cyphers.
BUT HIP HOP IS A BUSINESS!!!!!!
Just the people on the list I made above totals more than
$5 BILLION DOLLARS!!!! That’s a hell of a lot of influence and potential fans. And you’re not just pissing the people on this list off. They have millions of fans that will line up against you. Not to mention a lot of them could do good things for you down the road. And… Every business you have is attached to your HIP HOP BRAND. F*ck it up and all of your businesses are hurt. YOU may not care about anybody on that list, but if you have a mic in your hand and income from it YOU BETTER DAMN BE SURE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT THAT LIST. Because like it or not, money rules the world.
50 just didn’t have the political savvy to maneuver. It’s funny. That same thing that got him attention and allowed him to blow up was the same thing that killed him. The streets. You may bully a n*gga in the streets, but if you try that sh*t without any type of style and cunning in the boardroom, kiss your career goodbye. That’s a hard skill to master.

      • andone

i didnt say his actions were limited to rapping nor are they, obviously… there were different circumstances to each of those situations, some of them tied together but still seperate and idvidual…. and some things have to be adressed instead of left ingnored, thats simply the right thing to do all $$$/music aside… i dont see 50 out here beggin or hurting for “BUSINESS” so at the end of the day he handled hiself with as much self respect as possible and it still paid off… thats somthing to be proud of in itself, “politics” cant buy you that… also im not sure where ur gettin the whole 50 not being “savvy” or “cunning” apparently you havent watched his interviews or are jus simply unaware of all his current ventures… LOL like seriously man do u really think he landed all those partnerships by “bullying” his way around the “boardroom”… c’mon son

      • Black Jay

I took Politics in college. That’s not to say that I know a lot of sh*t. Compared to Capitol Hill or Obama or even your average political science student, my knowledge ain’t sh*t.

But even a dummy can see a few things. First…. He made most of his money when he was on top (and I’m actually one of the people that believe the Vitamin deal was pure luck, but $100 mill is $100 mill so it doesn’t matter). Most of those deals were when he was in a prominent position. Now? How many deals has he started? I remember him sponsoring a race car, but that’s it.
And this info is not to you personally. But…..The name of the game isn’t “I MADE MY MONEY SO I’M GOOD FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE”. I hate to hear people say that because it’s ignorant as f*ck. The name of the game is PROVIDING FOR YOUR FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS. Black folks (I’m not sure of your ethnicity) need to cut that sh*t out. How do you think these major corporations got started? OLD MONEY. The name of the game is to provide for your blood line as long as you can. To ensure that your family gets the best education and the best out of life. That’s why you see a Bill Gates and Warren Buffet still going after having all of the money in the world. To provide for their children’s children’s children’s children. So people need to get smart about sh*t.

50 is not dead. But they damn sure got his casket picked out. And if he doesn’t move units, it’s a wrap.

      • andone

1st. 50 made a chunk of his $$$ from vitamin water not ‘most” of it… call it “luck” if u like but we didnt see any of his peers or even bosses making that kind of move till yrs later, that has to count for somthin other than mere coincidence… not only that he could have sold liquor instead but most ppl dont ever think about that… anyways u say he is no longer profitable or “prominent” enough for companies to work wit yet he has consisstently been gettin deals left and right without a problem… cheetah vision got 400 mill, SK ENERGY top ranked drink 2nd to 5hr voted #1 in 2013 wit a 100mill+ advertising budget that recently got approved, SMSaudio sellin out durin every infomercial wit big name investors and now sponsoring a racing team in NASCAR, boxing promotion wit a stable of fighters from differnt ethnicities winning most bouts, book deals that are being picked up for programming, an upcoming series on starz network, jus secured a new music contract within days of leaving interscope …. this is all new money not including his numerous previous projects in clothing, sneakers, video games, colonge, pontiac endorsement ect… i know its easy for ppl to downplay or “overlook” his relevance but the bottomline is homies trackrecord and PORTFOLLIO looks jus as good as any other rap mougl on paper… so wit that being said, 50’s deff actively “providing” BELIEVE THAT!

      • Black Jay

Bro you talking like I’m trying to take away his money…. Lol! I ain’t taking nothing away from what 50 did. With the Vitamin Water deal, in my opinion, it was luck. But let’s keep it 100…. If your name ain’t Warren Buffet, IT USUALLY IS LUCK FOR ANY INVESTOR!!! $100 Million is $100 Million. I ain’t taking nothing away from 50 on that.

But business is about “upward mobility”. Translation? Business is about the ability to not only get money, but the ability to get more of it.

Now you can talk until you’re blue in the face but there isn’t a person on earth that can tell me that 50 didn’t drastically hurt his brand by “beefing” unnecessarily. Nobody can defend that.

I like 50’s tracks. But you’re calling him a financial genius like he’s Warren Buffet or something. He’s not. And all financial adept folks know you don’t f*ck with your brand. Because all things are tied to it.

50 just doesn’t have good people skills. I’m sorry. You and whoever else just needs to accept it. His people skills are trash. And ultimately, it’s going to hurt his ability to get paper. Think about this….Lil John made $6 Million in 2013 and placed #20 on Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings. Guess who was #19 and for how much? 50 Cent was #19 and made $7 Million. So with all of the stuff you mentioned above, why is it that he only placed one spot below last place? And he barely beat a rapper that hasn’t been on the charts in 5 years and made most of his money from DJing!!!! Y’all can call him a financial genius if you want to but that’s a very telling statistic. 50’s Brand has taken a beating from unnecessary beefs. And my predictions won’t change. He’d better reinvent himself like Ice Cube or else it’s a wrap.

      • andone

this is why i didnt want to step in and correct u because u easily get off topic and go in circles saving face by trying to get in the last word… look bruh we all know ur not the biggest 50 fan but u cant keep going around tryin to discredit the man at every opportunity that presents itslef like u been doing all week… give it a break already fam u got me on here repeating myself to you twice now…

cheetah vision got 400 mill, SK ENERGY top ranked drink 2nd to 5hr voted #1 in 2013 wit a 100mill+ advertising budget that recently got approved, SMSaudio sellin out durin every infomercial wit big name investors and now sponsoring a racing team in NASCAR, boxing promotion wit a stable of fighters from differnt ethnicities winning most bouts, book deals that are being picked up for programming, an upcoming series on starz network, jus secured a new music contract within days of leaving interscope …. this is all new money

if ^^^thats not “upward mobility” or “ppl skills” then i dont know wat is… plus i never said he was some kind of a genius, i was only pointing out that he is a commodity and his career is thriving because of it, dont twist my words… not jus that but i also clearly stated his past feuds have had an impact on his image so u can quit acting like i didnt acknowledge it…

and im glad u brought up the forbes list cause it shows that 50 can still place even on an off year… then you also have to take into consideration that most typically have to invest and WAIT till they get a return b4 it gets reported as well… so dont get to far ahead of yourself champ, lets not sit here and front as if 7mill is his last pay day… cause if theres a “a rapper that hasn’t been on the charts in 5 years and made most of his money from DJing” then theres no reason at all why 50 shouldnt be expected to collect more checks!

      • Qudus

HE WOULDN’T STOP SUCKING ON GAY Z’S D1CK BUT HE HAS THINGS TO SAY ABOUT 50. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 50 AND JAY TO BE HONEST? EVERYTHING HE ACCUSES 50 OF, JAY HAS DONE IT YET HE CAN’T KEEP JAY’S C0CK OUT OF HIS MOUTH LONG ENOUGH TO SEE IT. SO, FOR HYPOCRITES LIKE HIM, I’D RATHER ATTACK THEIR CREDIBILITY THAN DEBATE THEM. Success is manufactured in the entertainment industry. Eminem & Dr. Dre were getting more money from 50 than he was comfortable with. Similar to Kanye he had successful artist on his label but he himself was signed to a major record deal. So do the real take home #’s for 50’s “GET RICH OR DIE TRYING” I think that’s exactly what happened. Maintaining his own label while still obligated to a his own careers record deal was killing his pockets. Now he can truly be a real boss.

he has distribution deal for a label….he don’t have to make records if he sign some good artist

      • superh8

        Exactly

    • superh8

      Yaaaaaawn

      • Black Jay

Thanks for the support dude. God Bless….. You’re the best!

  • smittyrock313

Cashmoney didnt always have a deal like they do now. Remember they got 30mil from Universal that had to be paid back so at that time Universal was making a ton of bread off them plus a recoup of that 30mil. And to this day nobody deal was better that Master P’S he did want he wanted and when he wanted. Cashmoney cant put out a album when they want. they gotta get the ok.

  • smittyrock313

Dont know if anybody remember universal wasnt gonna put out lil wayne rock album. He had to do a deal with em to do it. Thats why that I am not a human being album came out right after.

  • Afi Keita James

It still won’t help his so called career which has none after all of the damage he’s done to hip-hop and our entire generations, it will take years to clean up the mess he left.

    • So he’s the George Bush of Hip Hop…

      • Afi Keita James

Yes, plus he is a neocon.

      • superh8

N u a whinning lil bitch.u must have female tendencies gay boy.Stop whinning lil tranny

    • Chris

I rocked with Ja Rule, but I had to accept the fact that the homey was finished as a viable artist in the music game. Why can’t you 50 Cent stans do the same? No hate for 50, but his days of controlling the music game are over.

      • Peter Morris

There’s a big difference. His day’s of “controlling the music industry” are over but that doesn’t mean his music career is over. People seem to confuse the two. Meanwhile their favorite rapper never even came close to having the game in a chokehold like 50 did. Fifty will always have a die hard fan base- especially with all these soft ass rappers in the game.

      • Afi Keita James

and 5-0 is as soft as the rest of them and he is certainly not hip-hop at all, he’s pop rap like the rest.

      • Black Jay

I disagree bro. Somebody has always had a choke hold on the hip hop game. It’s a temporary thing. It doesn’t last forever. The only person that’s even remotely coming close to a permanent choke hold is Jay Z. And even his isn’t what it used to be.
Everything that starts has an ending. This move is horrible for 50. But it may be a blessing if he uses it right. Not saying that 50 is done but he needs to make some changes and take a look at himself as a person. He has severe people skill issues. He needs to make personal life changes or else he will be done.

      • Blaq Gavin

If that was the case he’d be done by now. Just because he won’t kiss your favorite rappers ass, don’t mean he’s done. Keep dick ridin’ jay z…

      • OnlyTheReal

Yeah. We see how far him “not kissing my favorite rapper’s ass” got him. If we wanna keep living in the past then lets remember this was the same 50 who ridiculed Cam’ron for signing to “the rapper’s graveyard” Koch….now he’s pretty much doing the same thing but selling it off as some kinda bullshit “business savvy” move. Smh. Shit only works with the 200 fans he has remaining in which a third of them will download his shit from online before they purchase it

      • Afi Keita James

Face it, karma’s a bitch for this clown.

      • Blaq Gavin

260 million and counting. I’ll take that over your approval or the title “relevant” any day. And I Prefer street music over exaggerated trash…

      • Black Jay

Thanks for the support dude. God Bless…

      • golder1

He might not be able to control the game but he has a fan base who will purchase whatever music is released by him.

      • Blaq Gavin

        We’ll see…

    • Black Jay

I still rock that joint. That was the sh*t. No doubt. But would I buy his new sh*t? I don’t know….. I wouldn’t call myself his core base. That n*gga gotta convince me with some dope product. I haven’t been able to listen to any new sh*t based off of his suck ass people skills. And judging from his album sales, a lot of people are in the same boat with me on that.

    • Infinite8

50 had 2 and 1/2 good albums 1 classic (Get or die tryin) 1 cool (The Massacre) the 1/2 (Curtis with Ayo Technology album, only sold cuz it was 50 and going against Kanye that year, that’s it THE ALBUM WAS DOO DOO), Nobody is banging 50 cent after the first 2 albums PERIOD!!! 50 fell off long time ago, he is barely featured on ANYONE SONGS!!! Not on Eminem’s album, not on Kendricks album, knocked off of Schoolboy Q’s album. Nobody wants 50 man. Interscope let him go CUZ 50 WAS NOT GOING TO SELL ANYWAY!!! Anybody bangin Major Distribution??? The only album I bang by 50 is GET RICH and some songs from MASSACRE.

      • Afi Keita James

I Hated this rapper, aside from many men, he represents everything wrong with the music industry, just like the rest.

      • I WILL BITE YOU!!

lol i just clocked on your account and pretty much all your comments are you crying about how you hate 50 and how they are a gay unit…. probably low-key gay af yourself fantasising about “gay unit”

It’s funny to me to see so many people get on this page and talk about irrelevance and it’s over for him. This page has more comments than most pages out in the past couple weeks. Irrelevant? lol

  • Rick

One of the biggest to ever do it. He’ll always be relevant when he pops up whether you like him or not. How many irrelevant people are doing an interview with Forbes?

  • guddaboy

all u niggaz pussies wet thinkin 5-0 gonna make a come back, say no more…we shall c! And shitty cent think he slick tryin to get at jimmy for buzz. Dude cant even respond to ya ass so tell me wats da point of bringin him up so much.

    • Afi Keita James

      He’s done anyways.

      • golder1

And you never started. Is crazy how niggas who have accomplished nothing want to say that another man who has been successful is done and not relevent. No matter if he releases another album or not cant label this dud irrelevent. If he was you wouldnt have commented. And if 50 aint shit becasue people dont buy his music like in the past, what does that make you?

      • Black Jay

Your argument is suspect. Because it’s also funny how people defend a dude they never met and he has never personally given a single penny to.

Try not to make sh*t personal. It’s a forum. Discussion. Opinions. That’s the design of the site.

I ain’t no blog monitor and I ain’t trying to tell nobody what to do. But that’s a pretty weak argument.

      • golder1

My argument is the truth. People are quick to call someone irrelevent or done when their career hits a rough patch. But how can u call someone irrelevent who has had much success and made their dream come true and the person calling them irrelevent aint accomplished much. Im not defending 50 just commenting on a idiotic statement. Why to put act like someone has to give u something or know them personally in order to refute anothers bullshit statement about that person. So Im far from making this personal. And I understand the purpose of this forum. I dont even listen to his music but I know that his imprint left on the genre cant be denied.

      • Truth Powell

Furthermore you can’t be irrelevant if you’re in the news like 50 is.

      • Blaq Gavin

You a dickrider, I see your name on every 50 article, hatin’! Get a life…

  • Boss..

  • wickedjones

What i can’t figure is why would you tell ppl that your deal is like CMB. Sounds like he’s biting a lil bit.

    • E McArthur

because that deal was high publicized

      • wickedjones

Now I can respect that answer. But I tell you it seems to me that 50 business tactics, it sort of blood suckerish. What I mean is, SMS headphones (dr dre) Boxing Promoting (Mayweather),. The 50th Law, (robert green).

    • golder1

How is it biting to sgin a good contract that benefits him more than the record company just like CMB. Biting is if he stole a hook off a Wayne song and put it on his album as his own.

    • How does it sound like he’s biting?

    • Truth Powell

you can’t “bite” a business contract cmon man….

    • Blaq_Boi

This is a very silly statement. In business there’s no such thing as biting. If a business model is viable and not copywritten, you use it as a blueprint instead of reinventing the wheel. Don’t expose your lack of business savvy,

      • wickedjones

I don’t have a problem however he conducts business, Im just saying why is he broadcasting it on the the internet (if he indeed do that). Why don’t he broadcast how he made that money off vitamin water.

“Rapper 50 Cent jokes he’d like to kiss Erin Andrews again (Foxsports Headline)”

DID ANY OF Y’ALL CHECK THIS HEADLINE TODAY ON FOX SPORTS?

In Dave Chappelle Voice….. “See daddy…. Sometimes you gotta take the p*ssy like Peppi..”

Lol! Damn 50! What’s going on dude? Hahahahahaha…..

    • andone

you must not know that erin andrews in also an ambassador for SK energy either… SMH!

      • Black Jay

What’s your point bro? This just happened today so it’s current news. No real diss. Just kinda funny how she played him on TV and he’s going back for more. Some funny sh*t! But that’s 50 for you. Turnt up like a motherf*cka!

      • andone

played him??? it was an awkward moment worth a laugh but thats it,stop tryin to make somthing out of nothing and leave that to the females… the two have a workin relationship and both are professionals hence the term “joke”… and its the same point as the one i was making earlier, your reaching again!

      • Black Jay

Show me one News outlet that played it like a joke. You can’t twist this one homie. He got played on National TV. He’s joking today. No doubt. But when that sh*t happened the first time, it didn’t get taken as a joke. Look at her face when he tried it. She didn’t take it as a joke.

I have a professional relationship with my co workers too. But I’m damn sure not trying to kiss them. Lol!

Keep that spin cycle for your washing machine homie. There’s no way to twist this one to 50’s advantage. hahahahaha…

      • andone

thats some lame ish that would only bruise a weak persons ego… you seriously think 50 and erin didnt laugh it off in the “board room” lol its not that serious man… find something else to throw fif under the bus wit cause that aint the one… and youre right not every co-worker hit on each other but that wasnt the case you can tell it was friendly dude… lookin like u runnin out of ammo playa im sure u can do better than that, try again

P.S: i was referring to joke as in after the fact not at the moment it happened… its evident that it didnt go as 50 planned which as i said was worth a brief laugh but to blow it out of proportion is some straight high school ish.

      • Black Jay

Look bro…. Don’t do that. This was never “I hate 50” sh*t for me. This was straight facts. You may be a fan of his and that’s cool. But don’t accuse me of hating on dude because I have not stated that in anything that I wrote.
This is a forum. Debate. Opinions. Points of view. The website is designed for it. Don’t get a little miffed when everyone on this joint has different points of view.
50 doesn’t need me to throw him under a bus. In the last 72 hours he’s done that all by himself.
Now you wanna talk about lame? Lame is throwing insults at dudes you don’t even know over a dude that you never even met and never gave you a dime. I’m not saying you’re doing that but some dudes on this site are. And that’s the lamest sh*t.
But it’s cool if you’re a fan. I can respect that. But if you’re a real fan, you gotta be willing to accept the fact that he has some really bad people skills issues. Just as I am a Kanye fan and have to admit that his mouth is too f*cking big sometimes. It goes with the territory bro. Take your medicine. Nobody is exempt. Peace.

There are too many issues to deal with than to fight some emotional person over 50 Cent (I can’t believe I actually had to write that last sentence). While you’re promoting what you can do against people. Maybe you should try to promote doing something to help people. I don’t hate you bro. I’m trying to help you. Think about it…. You never met me. I didn’t slap your mom or take food out of your kid’s mouth, and yet you wanna fight over 50 Cent??????? Come on bro. You’re better than that. Let’s talk about some dope sh*t like uniting. I’ll pray for you black man.

YO PEOPLE YOU NEED TO STOP ENGAGING black jay CONSTRUCTIVELY, HE’S ALL HATE. HE’S BEEN ON HERE HATING ON 50 FOR THE BETTER PART OF A WEEK. • Black Jay

I am analytical. I analyze hip hop. Good or bad. I try to stay away from the fan perspective simply because of what just happened with you and I. People get heated and they can’t put their emotions aside to debate with respect. I’m sorry if I stepped on your 50 Cent worship but facts are facts. That’s how I roll.

      • Qudus

ANALYTICAL? LOL!!! THIS DUMBO EQUATING HIS HATING A$$ DRIVEL TO ANALYSIS…HAHAHAHAHAHA

      • Black Jay

        Opinions vary.

      • Immortal

Bruh I get that you’re trying to have a rational debate over a situation, but sometimes there is no point, other than the other person just wants to hear their own voice or see what they’re typing over and over again. No point in responding when the conversation has come down to either name-calling or a “threat” of violence. You feel how you feel and they feel as they do. In the end, opinions are like ho’s; they’re on every corner and usually they’re all stank. You gave a time and a really good place. Been there myself and you can’t help but be in awe of the literacy history there. Stat positive and let the bs go. I’m going to say that even if we have a moment where we disagree on something.

      • Black Jay

I feel you bro. Point taken.

      • andone

i understand if u feel the need to sympathize wit bj over his posts between him and q but dont ignore the fact he has had a hand in the mud slinging as well… so to be fair its best we let them sort it out on their own… an upvote will let the rest know who u side wit and support… imo they both are doing too much but also have some valid points when u think about it… my logic is its possible we all can learn from the conversation instead of being so one sided with our arguments/debates… not to mention certain ppl need to be called out and checked in these forums from time to time… ijs

      • Immortal

Solid point, but as soon as the debate takes a turn to the negative where one is promoting violence on another, then we are feeding into the expected norms of black society and IMO I think it becomes the “job” of the level headed to promote talking rather than violence. Black Jay might’ve said some questionable things and even deserve to be called out, BUT…at no time should he or anyone else resort to childish antics. I’m guilty as hell of it myself, but if I can try to help one person not follow my mistakes, or have one person bring me back before I repeat them, don’t you think it’s worth it? Is it favoritism ? In this case yes because I see one trying not to follow the norm and the other falling into it. But IMO you’re right and again the point is solid. But I will try to side with positivity over negativity when I can and if Qudos had come back with something positive, I would’ve supportedd him too. Might be rambling lol. Hope you got the jist of what I mean.

      • andone

Im not against u at all on this its jus that we cant make it out to be that one is more innocent than the other in this situation… i agree its not in the best interest of things to instigate but on the other had we can say its also equally irresponsible to come to the defense of a guilty party… and if were going to speak on maturity then i must point out each person has be able to hold their own too… double standards, back handed insults, providing misleading information and being overly critical is wat gets ppl in these types of dilemmas… im aware of that so trust me im not wit gassin ppl up over the limit however im firm about individuals owning up to their words… bottom line is bloggers etiquette “can” go a long way “depending” on the time and the place as well as how u wish for it to be received… thats all im trying to say bro, peace!

      • Qudus

Look, I can debate him on the issue and hand his pants to him easily – I didn’t spend all those years in Law School not to be able to humiliate a simpleton like him – but I chose not to because from jump I picked up on the negative trend in his commentaries. It becomes even more glaring when you read him championing the most absurd actions of Jay Z and then turns around and slay 50 for the same things. So, why waste meaningful keystrokes on him when I can just go ‘Argumentum Ad Hominem’

      • Immortal

It’s never “meaningless” when trying to help any man. I’d do the same for you or anyone else I feel is intelligent and doesn’t subscribe to the status quo, and accept what is spoon fed in this world as gospel. So with that if he chooses to speak his mind on a particular subject and he has what he thinks is a strong case, then debate it. He asked to be challenged, the same way I’ve asked many on this site to challenge me, and to correct me when I’m wrong. But as long as I keep emotions in check and debate not nessicarily to win, but maybe to learn, maybe to make someone else learn or want to, then I have won through knowledge, maybe even made a new contact and someone that later on I can debate with again. I’m past the point in life where I think that my degree and awards make me better than the next man. I’m not that insecure, yet I am as arrogant as the next. What I feel makes me smart is the willingness to learn. No classroom is solely going to give me validation that I’m good at something. And violence proves nothing especially that there are laws that are for cyber bullying, and threats that are made over the net. And yes my friend, you did cross both of them. But that doesn’t make you bad, you were speaking from the “heart” maybe and became frustrated. Sh*t happens. Build up not tear down, grab one and push a book in his hands and make him read. Make that flower grow in the mind, and soon we will have another mind tough enough for the streets, but tough enough to own them from the top floor of a business wearing a good suit and shoes.

      • Qudus

        What is all this!

I reiterate, I’ve got no intention of wasting meaningful keystrokes on him. I wasn’t even a tad bit emotional during the whole ordeal, I was just baiting him but he’s smart and pu$$y enough to decline an offer to meet me on Thursday.

His opinions on 50 doesn’t count for scratch, and I couldn’t care less either way but It was the apparent hypocrisy that set my radar on him.

And keeping emotions in check or not does not invalidate an argument, I don’t know where people got the idea that being extremely emotional or otherwise nullifies an argument or its premise.

There’re many ways to skin a cat just as there are different styles/method of arguing. I chose the route I chose and I stand by it and its validity.

And as per “…there are laws that are for cyber bullying, and threats that are made over the net”, stay in your lane please, this is an area where you stand no chance against me whatsoever.

      • Immortal

If that is what you want to believe then that’s fine. Either way, none of the all caps or “debating” is going to do a damn thing to me. True debaters debate the issues at hand in a professional emotionless manner where there is no raised voices unless they think they are getting under someone’s skin. Whether or not you believe this, I do not care. Nor do I care about it’s validity in anyone’s eyes being that it has been proven many times over.
As for “staying in my lane”, you don’t know the first thing about me, where I’ve been, my education level or what I do for a living, so that whole last line of “stay in your lane please, this is an area where you stand no chance against me whatsoever” is moot. I’ll win against anyone I meet. With that I hope you meet him at the Library of Congress and talk even debate through positive tones about what is ailing the community and come out shaking hands as brothers. Feel free to retort if that is what you choose to do. You will get no further responses from me. Good day Sir.

      • Qudus

TBH, I really don’t have a reason to be going back and forth with you. You were itching to jump in the fray, and you couldn’t help it so you jumped, now you’re all about “I do not care”, “You will get no further responses from me”…interestingly, you cared enough to stick your beacon and air your unsolicited opinions in the first instance.

Yo Immortal, what up? You and I have chopped it up on here before, and have had beautiful exchanges. Why? Because we both live by all that you just stated above. If someone has to be told this, over, and over again, and continues to be involved in all of the ratchetness you speak of, then maybe there is more going on with that individual, because I don’t care how many times one states something, it is the ACTIONS that really do the speaking, at the end of the day, and we all know this. Real recognize real, and if someone is continually being called out for the same things, what can you really do, but let that individual come to terms with some of those things, and speak for themselves. You can lead the Archangel back to the cliff of salvation, but you cannot make them jump! Respect, and you know I mean that when I say it.

      • Malik

Brilliant, an insightful, out-of-this world comment that you couldn’t keep to yourself. You couldn’t help not fanning the flames of this nonsense debate that has over run its course, really?

      • Elayorx El

Well, I guess you have “fanned the flames” even more now then. I did not know there was a reverse style, “statue of limitations”, on how long to post on subjects here. I will keep that in mind, and yes, really.

      • Immortal

Hello Brother. You’re absolutely right. But I could never give up the fight nor would I ever expect or ask you to. I’m no “enlightened” man, but know enough to know that infighting is what “everyone” wants; not just the white man, but those of us who prey on us. And I meant what I said, there are lot of us that need help; but not enough of us who are willing to take up the slack, ask the hard questions that sometimes even I don’t want to hear. And some on here are plain straight up ignorant and you’ve seen them and mostly we leave them alone. Those that have something to bring to the plate to add another meal to the mind, those are worth arguing over; fighting for. But in the end, you’re right. Respect brother always even when we agree and even more so when we disagree. >>>feel like I got my hand spanked by El lolz

      • Elayorx El

LMFAO!!! Nah, Immortal, we A-Alikes fam, and I totally respect you, and appreciate the gems. What you speak is 100, and I would also say that it is also our duty to “smoke out”, anyone who may not be sincere, and masquerading around, just to make a name. Now, I’m not accusing anyone, IJS;-) We both possess true love for the culture, and the light on both our sides, recognizes one another. It’s more intuitive, and less cerebral. Thanks for overstanding, and as you say, “respect always when we agree, and even more so when we disagree”. Take care, fam.

      • Black Jay

When you say “mud slinging” what do you mean? If you mean disrespecting folks or fellow commentators, show me my words.

If you mean commenting on the state of 50 Cent, I gave my opinion. It is a forum and like it or not, that is the design.

So….. What mud slinging are you referring to?

And telling me that I need to be called out? If I unjustly attack any individual, you’re right. Anybody that attacks someone on a personal level for having an opinion should be checked. But…. Show me where I did it. I’m open for positive feedback. Don’t get on the side of unnecessary behavior because I had a different point of view about a subject matter. Show me where I threw mud.

      • Blaq_Boi

Not to far from you at all. That used to be the area to be in back in the 90’s and you had Penthouse up the street to get your skripper fix on.

      • Immortal

In Woodbridge. One day I might see you up by the U and chop the chop for a min. Howards homecoming used to be the bomb, but now it’s more of a diddy show and the band is the sideshow where it should be role reversed.

      • Black Jay

Oh… No doubt! I do some freelance sh*t for a hip hop mag so I hit up quite a few concerts. I might get some free tickets I could kick your way. I’ll hit you up.

50 could care less about rapping now and who can blame him? He has a 200 million dollar movie deal, a successful headphone line (not as big as Dre beats but still successful), boxing promotion although i dont know how successful that is but bottom line he just does rap for fun now. He obviously doesn’t take it seriously
