Cardi B revealed how her divorce from Offset left her emotionally paralyzed and unable to record music or even look at her children.

Cardi B broke down the emotional cost of her divorce from Offset during a raw conversation with Kelly Rowland, revealing how the pain left her unable to record music or even look at her children without crying.

The Grammy-winning rapper opened up during Spotify’s “Countdown To” series while promoting her upcoming album Am I the Drama?, due out Friday (September 19).

The 32-year-old said her mental health took a serious hit after her split from Offset, and it derailed her ability to work.

Cardi explained that she flew to Los Angeles to finish her album after dropping the single “Enough,” but the sessions were scrapped.

“I came to LA and I was supposed to finish my album after Enough,” she said. “I had two months, and we had to cancel everything because I was so depressed that I couldn’t record. We was out here for like two weeks, and I just couldn’t record. I barely recorded anything because I couldn’t even stop crying.”

The “WAP” rapper described how the grief consumed her every time she stepped into the studio.

“Every time I see a mic, I start crying. My feelings and my heart really cripple me.”

She also spoke about the emotional toll the breakup took on her sense of love and trust.

“I have been hurt and I’ve been disappointed and I’ve been disrespected,” she said. “I felt like I was withdrawing from love.”

The Bronx native said the depression seeped into her day-to-day life, especially when it came to her children — Kulture, Wave and Blossom.

“I can’t even look at my kids’ faces because I just want to cry when I see them,” she added.

Cardi and Offset married in 2017, but their relationship was riddled with cheating scandals, public fallouts and reconciliations.

She filed for divorce in July 2024, the second time she’s taken legal steps to end the marriage.

After the split, Cardi dropped “Outside” in 2025, a track that celebrated her independence and hinted at her new romance with Stefon Diggs.

The rapper and the NFL star were first seen together in October 2024 at a New York City nightclub. They later made their relationship public at a Knicks game in May, and Cardi confirmed it on Instagram the following month.
