Michael Jackson’s Friend Claims Idea Was Taken, But Context Matters
Corey Feldman is not known for opposing Michael Jackson. In fact, he has long been one of Jackson’s most vocal defenders. That is what makes the latest online chatter so interesting. In 2026, the internet continues to do what it does best: stir debate, revisit old claims, and amplify narratives from every angle imaginable.
Recently, Feldman addressed resurfaced accusations that Jackson and Eddie Murphy borrowed from one of his songs. The claim itself is not entirely new, but it has found fresh life through social media, where users are quick to dissect and debate even the most obscure moments in pop culture history.
Anyway, watch the following video and tell me what you think.

To be clear, Feldman has never been widely recognized as an accomplished singer or songwriters, but it seems like he has a case against Eddie Murphy. His legacy is rooted primarily in acting, where he became a defining figure for Generation X through films in the 1980s. Still, that does not automatically invalidate his perspective. There is always a possibility that creative overlap or inspiration occurred, but he says it was theft. Here’s what he said on IG.
At the same time, the broader context cannot be ignored. The internet did not ignore it. These songs were not major hits for any of the parties involved. Neither Feldman’s work nor the track associated with Michael and Murphy made a lasting commercial or cultural impact. In fact, this is a conversation that likely would have remained buried if not for a viral social media post bringing it back into the spotlight.
Feldman kept it cute. But we should know what Pablo Picasso once said, that “great artists steal.” Influence, borrowing, and reinterpretation are part of the process…for better or worse. People are stolen from AllHipHop so bad that I can’t even count the number of times this year alone the people have stolen from us.
Ultimately, this situation is not a major controversy. Feldman just got caught up. He’ll be alright. Michael Jackson’s legacy continues to be examined from every angle, and even minor claims can gain major traction right now.

By the way, Corey Feldman is still performing “What’s Up With The Youth” and looking quite a lot like Michael Jackson.
