The BET Hip Hop Awards bring out some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop each year at the Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Hip-Hop heavyweights and rising stars are often eager to share info on their newest projects and excitement for the cypher, but this year we touched on more conscious issues: gun violence and activism.
AllHipHop partnered with the League of Young Voters and Snoop Dogg to bring their anti-gun violence campaign #NoGunsAllowed” to the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards red carpet in Atlanta. The initiative lifts up an anti-gun violence message and urges legislators to pass safer and more responsible gun laws. The campaign was inspired by Snoop Dogg’s peaceful song of the same name, “No Guns Allowed” from his Reincarnated album.
AllHipHop spoke with Snoop Dogg, DJ Mustard, Rich Homie Quan, K Camp, Migos, Rae Sremmurd, Big Krit, Yung Joc who spoke on raising gun violence awareness, the controversial “Stand Your Ground” law and how rappers are responsible for spreading the right messages to get guns off the street.
