The NFL Issues Statement Regarding St. Louis Rams "Hands Up" Display

After five players from the St. Louis Rams raised their hands before a game in support of Michael Brown, the St. Louis Police Association took offense; demanding that each player be punished.

Now the NFL has released it’s own statement on the matter via its Vice President of Communications, Brian McCarthy:

“We respect and understand the concerns of all individuals who have expressed views on this tragic situation.”

For once it looks as if the league may have gotten something right.

A$AP Rocky Among Men Featured In Ferragamo's "A Man’s Story" Project

(AllHipHop News) In 1914, Salvatore Ferragamo left his home country of Italy for Boston at the age of 16 to work with one of his brothers at a local boot factory. The siblings later moved to California and opened the their own boot shop. Within five years the Ferragamo brothers became some of the most sought after footwear designers for Hollywood’s elite. Eventually that company would grow to become the internationally recognized luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo.

In celebration of the 100 year anniversary of Salvatore’s migration to the States, Ferragamo’s Spring 2015 collection will feature several contemporary men and their stories that represent “making your own rules.” The luxury goods company tapped photographer/filmmaker Francesco Carrozzin to create the new digital project A Man’s Story to coincide with the collection.

“For a man to have a vision and the courage of his convictions is both noble and timeless, as relevant today as it was a century ago when Salvatore Ferragamo went out on a limb to launch his shoe-making business,” says Ferragamo’s Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti in a statement. “Had he not have taken that risk, this brand that continues to grow and attract new generations may never have existed.”

Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky was one of the men selected for the short film and photography series. Actor Douglas Booth, New York Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist, photographer Ryan McGinley, and entrepreneurs Tyrone Wood, Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, and Alexander Gilkes were also chosen for Ferragamo’s A Man’s Story.

“From A$AP Rocky to Ryan McGinley what links these young men is their single-minded approach to life. They’ve not been afraid to make their own rules, even when it’s meant potential failure. That’s what makes them so inspiring, and the stories they’ve shared with us so compelling,” added Carrozzini.

Check out photos of Carrozzin’s A Man’s Story in the gallery and the A$AP Rocky teaser below. Watch the film at ferragamo.com.

St. Louis Rams Under Fire For "Hands Up" Pose

Standing with their hands raised in the “Don’t Shoot” pose to show support of slain teen Michael Brown, five players on the St. Louis Rams made it a point to show solidarity before opening on Sunday against the Raiders.

That gesture has now caused them to come under fire, as the St. Louis Police Officers’ Association (SLPOA) is now calling for a formal apology from the NFL, as well as additional punishment for the five players in question;  Tavon Austin, Kenny Britt , Edward Jones Dome, Stedman Bailey, Chris Givens and Jared Cook, who are all Black.

Explains Cook, “I just think there has to be a change,” Cook said after the Rams’ 52-0 win. “There has to be a change that starts with the people that are most influential around the world. No matter what happened on that day, no matter how the whole situation went down, there has to be a change.”

Directly across from the stadium protesters came together with chants of “No justice, no football” and “This is what democracy looks like,” as they continue to protest a decision made by the grand jury not to seek charges against Darren Wilson, who has since resigned.

Current SLPOA Business Manager Jeff Roorda released the following statement:

“I’d remind the NFL and their players that it is not the violent thugs burning down buildings that buy their advertiser’s products,” Roorda added. “It’s cops and the good people of St. Louis and other NFL towns that do. Somebody needs to throw a flag on this play. If it’s not the NFL and the Rams, then it’ll be cops and their supporters.

“I know that there are those that will say that these players are simply exercising their First Amendment rights. Well I’ve got news for people who think that way, cops have first amendment rights too, and we plan to exercise ours.”

Rams coach Jeff Fisher advised that he had on prior knowledge of the gesture.

A New York Theater Is Offering Refunds For A Bill Cosby Show

A theater in Tarrytown, N.Y is reportedly now offering refunds for two of  Bill Cosby’s upcoming shows after being pressed by people who purchased tickets to give them their money back. People began to request refunds after women began coming forward accusing the 77-year-old of rape.

At first, the Tarrytown Music Hall explained on their Facebook page that they could not cancel the show due to a contract with Cosby and the promoter, AM Productions.

“The way our business works is that a contract exists between Cosby and AM productions, the promoter, which in turn rents the Music Hall as a venue,” said the venue’s executive director Bjorn Olsson. “If AM breaks their contract with Cosby, they still have to pay him the guarantee, same thing if we break the rental contract with AM, except they would then be forced to come after us to recoup the money the owe Cosby. Since he is a very expensive artist, this would be a tremendous blow to The Music Hall, likely to force layoffs and cuts in our community programs.”

Over the weekend, the venue announced that they are now able to give patrons full refunds for the tickets they purchased.

“Mr. Cosby’s management is now allowing for refunds for any patron’s that do not wish to attend the show. Please let me know if I may cancel and refund your order,” read an email sent to ticket-buyers.

Despite the rape allegations that have been plaguing his career recently, Cosby has continued to do stand-up performances on his Far From Finished Tour. Though he may have lost fans in Tarrytown, Cosby got a standing ovation at a show in Melboure, Florida at sold-out show earlier this month.

It’s been 16 years since Jodeci released “Get On Up,” their last single together before the infamous 90s group stepped out of the spotlight. But on Sunday night they were back in all of their former glory, reuniting at BET’s 2014 Soul Train Awards to perform a medley of hits including “Come & Talk To Me,” “Forever My Lady,” “Stay” and “Freek’n You” before bringing B.O.B. on stage to debut a new single “Nobody Wins.”

Currently working on a new album, their first in almost 20 years, the quartet is also reportedly in talks to go on tour.

Project Pat Speaks On Juicy J Not Working With Three Six Mafia Members

(AllHipHop News) Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia is known as the “Originators of Crunk” and one of the early creators of the Trap Music sound. The crew of DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Juicy J, Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca, and Gangsta Boo released several studio albums between 1995-2008, but the 6-person collective took a break after the Last 2 Walk album.

Then in 2013 an announcement was made that 5 of the 6 members would reunite as Da Mafia 6ix and release new projects. Original Mafia partner, Juicy J, did not join in on the comeback. Juicy’s brother Project Pat spoke with VladTV about why the “Bandz A Make Her Dance” performer chose to not participate in Da Mafia 6ix.

“Paul’s got a group called Da Mafia 6ix. He’s just saying that it’s the old group members forming a different clique. Kind of like how Tear Da Club Up Thugs was Juicy, Paul and Lord Infamous,” said Pat. “He’s trying to keep the Three 6 Mafia reunion situation hyped up or whatever but no, J’s not going to be part of it.”

Pat also talked about rumors of Crunchy getting kicked out of Three Six Mafia. According to the veteran rapper, the response to winning an Oscar for “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” affected Crunchy’s motive to carry on without the group.

“Crunchy didn’t get kicked out of the group. He was saying the Oscar and all that stuff was too much pressure for him,” added Pat. “Maybe he was going through something personal. I don’t really know the full scoop on it or why he did that, because to me that was a bad decision.”

EXCLUSIVE: Freeway Rick Ross Responds To Rapper Rick Ross' Allegations He's A Snitch

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Rick Ross’ recent interview with The Breakfast Club included the Maybach Music Group boss making statements about the man he got his stage name from – former drug kingpin Freeway Rick Ross. The two men were actually involved in lawsuits over the name “Rick Ross” which the rapper eventually won in court.

[ALSO READ: Rick Ross Wins Lawsuit Against Freeway Ricky Ross]

During the radio Q&A, rapper Ross (born William Roberts) was asked about Freeway Ross’ open invitation for them to collaborate on changing the images displayed about the African-American community in Hip Hop. Roberts responded by saying “there ain’t nothing to come together about.” The Miami native went on to call Freeway Ross a “busta” and suggested he caused other people to be imprisoned by testifying against them.

“We talk about a lot of books and there’s a lot of this going on, but they don’t mention the forty people he testified on and sent to prison for life,” said Roberts. “That’s the information I seen because of lawsuits. We don’t do that where I’m from. Then, you blame it on who used you. Nah, you told. It’s called you testified. You told. You sent people to prison.”

Freeway Rick Ross gave an exclusive statement to AllHipHop.com about Roberts’ calling him a snitch. In response Freeway Ross says, “Do your research. You can look up my public record. As I said in the prior video, I hope we can come together make a change for the better for Black America.”

While Roberts did not provide clear evidence on when or during which particular trial Freeway Ross supposedly provided information, another source also tells AllHipHop.com that Roberts’ “snitching” claims are completely false. He insists Freeway Ross actually helped other defendants avoid prison time.

“My family got out of jail because of Freeway. They had drugs planted,” said the source. “Freeway didn’t testify on 40 people. He made the hard choice to go up on six officers so eighty-five or so of his guys, black men that had drugs planted on them, got out. That isn’t snitching.”

A 1991 article in the Los Angeles Times reports that Freeway Ross agreed to testify in the federal civil rights prosecution of six Los Angeles County narcotics officers. The cops were being tried for framing Ross for a 1987 arrest for allegedly shooting at the cops and drug possession. The charges against Ross were eventually dismissed. The officers were also accused of planting drugs on suspects, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug money, and falsifying police search warrants.

After serving time for an unrelated cocaine conviction in 1996, Freeway Rick has since focused his attention on combating drug abuse through appearances at rehab centers and halfway houses. He has also helped fight illiteracy with the Freeway Literacy Foundation. The fifty-four year old has been very vocal against current rap stars promoting the drug lifestyle to young fans as well.

Did Police Start Ferguson Riots? Robin Thicke's Young Jawn! Beyonce Beats On Jay?

What if both 19 and 37 are the new 30? This would mean Robin Thicke and his new girlfriend are the same age! I’m a bit late on this but I am happy to announce in delinquency that Robin has moved on and has a young boo thingy. Homegirl has already posed naked and its already been on TMZ. Robin did a whole lot of crying over ex-wife Paula Patton, but now he’s happy has a ho at a Cash Money mansion party. I guess she’s legal and he’s getting what he needs.

I had long heard that the police in Ferguson were doing nothing in the early moments of the fires and violence. They basically sat there and let it all go down. But, here is another side to that, which i had not heard. I am no being told that they actually STARTED the fires in Ferguson.

Peep the video:

What the hell is this stuff?

After the debacle with Solange, could Beyonce be physically abusing Jay Z? Now, this comes from the National Enquirer, but don’t sleep. They have been known recently to break some crazy stories and they turn out to be true.

Here is what they are saying:

…in a shocking claim, Beyonce is alleged to be the physically abusive partner in the relationship, said sources – providing emphatic evidence that she’s spiraling closer to an epic nervous breakdown, as friends fear!

“The relationship is as volatile as ever,” said an insider who noted as of late, the “Drunk in Love” diva has been inebriated on more than just fondness for her husband. “It looks like sometimes she can’t control her anger or her liquor when she drinks.”

In fact, a provocative series of seemingly coded cries for help recently posted on the singer’s social media accounts have prompted some in the know to coyly label them “Beyonce’s breadcrumbs.” In October, she published a photo showing Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton locked in a firey embrace. That A-list couple made headlines with their notoriously volatile relationship.

“Beyonce has been in a very bad place these past few weeks,” an insider has said. “It’s obvious to anyone around her that she’s just not herself at all.”

“Another source noted: Beyonce went through a rollercoaster of emotions. Eventually, she came to the decision that the show must go on, personally as well as professionally. Basically she’s made her bed and now she has to lie in it.

AllHipHop Exclusive: Jodeci Interview At Soul Train Awards

Photo credit:Gabe Ginsberg / Getty Images Contributor

The 1990’s garnered many R&B groups but none quite like Jodeci. It was an era dominated by New Jack Swing where Jodeci married R&B soul and Hip Hop to create a sound that is classic and timeless even today. You can’t talk about R&B, soul, and New Jack Swing without mentioning Jodeci, the Bad Boys of R&B; the Black Guns and Roses. This year the 2014 Soul Train Awards pulled out all kinds of surprises with the biggest being the reunion performance of iconic R&B group Jodeci. Their reunion is arguably the biggest reunion in R&B/ Hip-Hop history with 19 years since their last studio album and 8 years since a performance with all four members. The iconic quartet, hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina achieved much success in the ’90s including five No. 1 R&B hits like “Stay,” “Forever My Lady,” and “Come and Talk to Me.” The quartet also performed these hits on the Soul Train Award’s stage.

Jodeci traversed the musical landscape and redefined R&B as we knew it. They brought those church chords to R&B; that gritty soul, and silky vocals. In 2011 I asked DeVante Swing what it was like to write, produce, arrange, and play on such pieces beginning at age 16? He softly replied, “I just wanted to make dope music.” K-Ci stated to me last year that the group is not getting back together because they never broke up. Mr. Dalvin also told me the reason the group is still relevant today and revered as one of the best R&B groups ever is because they put out quality and timeless music. He said that one could not rush quality and when it was time for Jodeci to return they would.

Well the stars were aligned and Jodeci proved why they are R&B royalty at The 2014 Soul Train Awards which will air on Sunday November 30. Before all of the action, AllHipHop caught up with the quartet to discuss their comeback and their reunion performance at the award show. Check out the clip below.
