Three Questions With SD

Chicago representative SD first gained national attention from his appearance in Chief Keef’s YouTube video hit “I Don’t Like.” While the 19-year-old rapper still has close personal ties with the Keef-led GBE movement, he has now started his own brand with Truly Blessed Productions.

The imprint teamed with iHipHop Distribution to release SD’s debut studio album Truly Blessed. The 15-track project follows his 3-part Life Of Savage mixtape series which have collectively totaled over 170,000 downloads on Datpiff.com. With his official LP, SD wants to give listeners greater insight to who he is and where he is from.

To get better familiar with SD, AllHipHop.com connected with the indie artist for “Three Questions.” The Windy City rapper discusses missing the impact of an iconic Hip Hop star, shares his favorite tracks from one of his musical idols, and reflects on what he is truly blessed for in his life.

If you could go back and witness any historic moment in Hip Hop that you weren’t able to see, which moment would you pick?

When 2Pac was around. I wish I was around to see the effect he had on people. I was born in ‘94, so I was still kind of young when he was in his prime. I was able to go back and pick up on what was going on.

What are your personal five favorite tracks from 50 Cent?

“Get In My Car,” “Just A Lil A Bit,” “P.I.M.P.,” “Many Men” and “Patiently Waiting.”

One of his CDs was actually the first time I ever bought an album. The first time I actually went to a store and bought an album was The Massacre. Eminem’s Encore was the second. Matter fact, I bought both at the same time. Those were the first two albums I ever bought.

G-Unit was one of my favorite rap groups growing up. It’s good to see them back together.

What are some blessings in your life that you’re most thankful for right now?

My two kids, the position that I’m in today to be able to be a speaker and inspire other people to do things in life, and my family. Those are things I can say that I’m blessed for today.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Tiny And T.I.'s Daughter Permanently Changes Eye Color Too?

A few weeks back the world was in an uproar when Tiny unveiled her new eye color. The singer had surgery that permanently changed her eyes to a grey-blue ice color.

Now it appears that the couple’s 19-year-old daughter is following in momma’s footsteps and has changed her eye color as well.

Tiny also posted the pic, along with a few blue hearts…would you allow your teenage daughter to permanently change something like this? Hopefully its just a really good pair of contact lenses.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Masika Breaks Her Silence!

Since the altercation took place on Novemeber 5, Yung Berg’s victim/girlfriend Masika Turner has been closed mouth about the incident.

The Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood cast member is now brewing her silence on exactly what took place inside their NYC hotel room and if the whispers are try about Berg really doing a number over on her.

Sister2Sister reports:

““My focus right now is him being better. The focus should not be on us being a couple right now,” Masika told Sister 2 Sister. “It’s best that we don’t communicate as we were.”

More than anything, Masika said she wants Berg to get help, and his issue isn’t abusing women. “I feel like the only abuse issue that he has is alcohol abuse. I do feel like he has a drinking issue and that’s the issue at this time,” she said. “It was not an abusive situation.”

According to Masika, she and Berg did “cause quite a disturbance,” but the entire incident was blown out of proportion, in part, because it was a ritzy hotel, late at night and several guests in the hotel called the police.

“The stories were just erroneous,” Masika said about all the rumors that circulated after the altercation, which took place after 17 hours of taping the season 1 reunion show. As a result of the melee, Berg was arrested and charged with obstruction of breathing.

“It was not an abuse situation. He did not attack me; he did not knock me out. He did not beat me up, none of that happened,” said Masika who could not confirm reports that Berg has been fired from the show.

“He was very drunk. It was to the point where he didn’t really know his bearings,” she said. “He needs to be focused on getting these charges dropped and getting the drinking under control.””

Hmmm…so should Berg be cut from the LHHH cast? Joseline is clearly still apart of the LHHATL cast after clearly beating down just about everyone that was present onstage…#JustSaying.

Nicki Minaj's Credit Score Takes A Hit After Social Security Number Leaked On NYPD Document

(AllHipHop News) Besides facing criticism for the lyric video to her single “Only,” Nicki Minaj has other issues mounting as well. According to Radar Online, the Young Money rapper suffered a huge drop in her credit rating after her social security number was mistakenly leaked.

[ALSO READ: Whoopi Goldberg Suggests Nicki Minaj May Not Have Known About The History Of Nazism]

Apparently, a website forgot to redact the private information when a 2003 booking report for Minaj (born Onika Maraj) was published earlier this month.

A New York City Police Department’s booking photo showed that the then 20-year-old Queens native was arrested for the misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Nicki’s #SSN becoming public has apparently led to other people using the information.

“Nicki’s credit score dropped almost 100 points soon after, because there were many inquiries into her financial records,” a source told Radar. “The credit reporting agencies, detecting a lot of irregular activity, immediately notified Nicki’s camp.”

The source added that Nicki may have to get another social security number and the situation has been very stressful for the “Anaconda” performer.

While dealing with this financial problem, Nicki continues to move forward with the release of her third studio album. The Pinkprint is scheduled for release on December 15. She recently dropped the LPs’s fourth single “Bed of Lies”

Freeway Rick Ross Talks Rick Ross, Jay Z, & Hip Hop's Connection To The Prison-Industrial Complex

(AllHipHop News) Freeway Rick Ross recently spoke with radio host (some say conspiracy theorist) Alex Jones about Hip Hop. During the interview, the convicted head of the former $900 million drug enterprise claimed that some rappers are purposely used to promote illegal activities to the public.

Ross mentioned two rappers by name – Rick Ross and Jay Z. Freeway Rick continued his criticism of rapper Rick Ross using his name and likeness to present an image that he says is not true. He refers to Jay when questioning why the Brooklyn emcee’s music is allowed to be played in school settings.

[ALSO READ: Freeway Rick Ross Says Rapper Rick Ross Is Sending Negative Messages To Young People (VIDEO)]

“When I sold drugs I hid. But now they got these guys that never sold drugs. One guy was a correctional officer who goes by the name of Rick Ross now. He took my whole identity and the courts said he could do it,” said Freeway. “The message it tells our kids is that if you go out [and] sell drugs, then you can become a great rock star like myself and never go to prison.”

He later added, “I’m disappointed in the whole culture. Not really [rapper Rick Ross] because I don’t think he understands what he’s doing. To him, I believe he’s making a living. Almost like I was when I sold drugs… Then you go to our schools and guess who you hear on the radio, playing in a high school gym on the turntables? Jay Z.”

Freeway then gives his perspective on the connection between rap music selling the drug kingpin lifestyle and the prison-industrial complex. He also expressed his belief that today’s young people are being programmed to embrace drug dealing, gang banging, and prison mentality.

“I had come up with a mentality about myself that I was dumb, stupid, that all I should be was a thug. And that thugging was cool. When I looked around from my prison cell and started to look at all my friends, they all thought the same way,” stated Ross. “And it was this programming that put us in this position that dealing drugs and gang banging was easy for us to accept. I believe that Hip Hop is doing that right now but on a more massive scale.”

Ross released his book Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography earlier this year. His involvement with the reported CIA program of importing narcotics into the United States as part of the Iran-Contra scandal was featured in the recent film The Messenger. The alleged drug smuggling operation has been credited for helping to spark the crack cocaine epidemic.

Lil Jay Accuses Lil Durk Of Being A Snitch

(AllHipHop News) The term “snitch” is a word that is hard to shake once it has been attached to your name. So when a rapper is accused of working with the authorities to convict another person, it can be damaging to that performer’s brand. Rightfully or wrongfully, the idea of helping the police take down someone else is seen as a violation of street code in many circles.

Chicago’s Lil Durk may now have to address allegations that he is a “snitch,” because fellow Chitown rapper Lil Jay questioned Durk’s recent release from jail. In a series of video posts, Jay blatantly accuses Durk of working with the police and warns others to be wary of the Def Jam artist.

“Man, n***as is out here telling,” said Jay. “How the f**k you out on three bonds? Come on man impossible. You working with them people. What’s your badge number? Attention everybody, watch out for Officer Durk.”

Durk was released on bond last week after being charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He was allegedly caught with a Glock .45 caliber handgun and a Springfield .45-caliber handgun, but his lawyer suggested the firearms may have belonged to someone else in his entourage. He was originally denied bail.

“Out on bond right now, I didn’t beat my s**t. This is realistic, real s**t no TV man, so I thank the man upstairs,” Durk said in an Instagram post after being released. “Hopefully we beat this s**t. Keep me in y’all prayers.”

Jay and Durk have been going back and forth for sometime. Durk dissed Jay on the track “Competition.” Jay responded on his own song “Take You Out Yo Glory Remix.

Video Of Migos Fight At DC Club Hits The Net; GBE's Fredo Santana Says "Sorry"

(AllHipHop News) News broke over the weekend that Atlanta rap group Migos was allegedly involved in an altercation with members of Chief Keef’s Glory Boyz Entertainment camp. The “Versace” rappers had been feuding with GBE for over a year, and it appears things came to a head at the Stadium Club in Washington, DC.

[ALSO READ: Migos Gets Robbed By Chief Keef’s GBE During Brawl That Ended In Bloodbath]

Migos was in town to perform at the venue, but according to sources with AllHipHop, group member Quavo was the main person involved in the brawl that took place and his chain was snatched during the melee. Keef later posted a picture of the jewelry on his Instagram page before deleting the photo.

Video allegedly taken at the scene of the fight has now made its way to the internet. The person filming the footage can be heard screaming, “No, not Migos. Migos out here fighting and s**t. Not Quavo.”

Meanwhile, one of Migos chief GBE rivals Fredro Santana took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to either offer a very cryptic apology or promote a song – perhaps both. The Chicago native sent out a tweet that simply read, “Sorry.”

Santana was featured on the track “Sorry” by Yung Gleesh, but he posted a tweet recently that was a direct threat to Migos as well. He also released the track “Go To War” last week as the beef between the two camps started to heat up.

AHH Album Review: Big K.R.I.T. – Cadillactica

Imagine yourself floating through space in a decked out Cadillac, with the bass echoing throughout the galaxy. That’s exactly how Big K.R.I.T. starts this album by creating the planet Cadillactica on the spacey, pimpish intro track “Kreation” This intro is not just a song it’s a total experience. Although just one verse, the song stands firm as a beginning to a journey through the universe. And K.R.I.T puts you in the passenger seat of his pimped out, intergalactic Cadillac throughout the duration of Cadillactica.

While listening to Cadillactica, you may find yourself go through all kinds of emotions. You go from being zoned out in chill mode with “Kreation” to a state of serious thought-provoking moments and reevaluation of existence with “Life” to a series of uncontrollable head-nodding and high adrenaline bursts with the BANG of “My Sub Part 3.” On his 2nd album, Big K.R.I.T was able to deliver on all accounts with Cadillactica. His creativity level is at an all time, lyrically, sonically, and mentally. Every song sounds like more than just a song, each song is carefully crafted and arranged to bring the full potential out of the song.

K.R.I.T.’s lyricism was brought to full potential throughout the album. His poetic background and writing style makes every word important. No word goes without purpose. He makes the type of southern music that is rarely heard, especially today in all genres of music, not just hip hop. The title track, Cadillactica is the epitome of exactly what a title track is supposed to sound like. The energy, lyrics, flow, delivery, and arrangement of that song is perfect. Even the interlude “Standby” is infectious with just a saxophone and K.R.I.T.’s stanzas. One of many examples of his intricate lyricism can be found on the song “Soul Food”

“The acrobats on the corner and they flip/So when them white vans pull up shawty we dip out of view/Coulda been a track star at the school, but it took the police just to get that 4.4 out of you/ Dash, Sprint, Hurdle over those steel gates, They keep us in and keep folk out but we don’t feel safe”

The production and engineering on Cadillactica is top-notch material. K.R.I.T. found a strong chemistry working with other producers on this album, while still carrying majority of the production duties. Throughout his career K.R.I.T.’s music has been highly sample-driven, but on this album we get to see just how talented K.R.I.T. is behind the boards, only using two samples on the entire album. The production is so soulful, organic, and precise with the perfect use of different drum patterns and sounds. You get songs that bang in the whip, along with songs where you can truly appreciate the use of sounds and melodies to create beautiful music. Raphael Saadiq, Terrace Martin, DJ Dahi, Jim Jonsin, and Alex Da Kid all contributed to making Cadillactica the best produced album this year.

The album plays so smoothly, on first listen there’s no way that you could skip one song. It is organic music that we don’t get the privilege of hearing much in today’s music. Cadillactica is the one of the best albums released this year, and the best album from a southern hip hop artist in years.

Lyricism 10/10
Production: 1010
Cohesiveness: 9/10
Replay Value: 9/10

Overall: 9/10

Standout tracks: “Cadillactica”, “King Of The South”, “Do You Love Me”, “Lost Generation”

Migos Gets Robbed By Chief Keef's GBE During Brawl That Ended In Bloodbath

Migos and Chief Keef’s Glory Boyz Entertainment (GBE) posse have been at war for almost a year now and last night (Nov. 15) their beef turned bloody.

While Migos was performing at the Washington D.C. club Stadium, GBE and the Atlanta trio were involved in a brawl and it ended in what a AHH source called a “bloodbath.” In a now deleted Instagram post, Chief Keef posted a picture holding Migos member Quavo’s chain, but it’s unknown who exactly in the crew took it.

“Nobody really knows who did it,” says our source. “It was like 40 people that beat on Migos, strippers and all. It’s about to be some east coast vs. west coast s**t again.”
IMG_6196

From what our source says, it seems that Quavo was the main one involved in the brawl. Migos did not have security with them.

The two rap crews have been beefing more via Twitter lately and things heated up last week when GBE member Capo took to Twitter to detail an altercation he had with Migos while Fredo Santana chimed in with death threats.

Migos Soft as hell Y’all Jus Had 20 n##### And I was by myself F### n#####! Link

The Chi-town clique and Migos have been at odds ever since Chief Keef took a line from Migos’ song “Offset” as a diss to his daughter last year.

5 Thoughts On Lifetime's Awful Aaliyah Biopic

aaliyah 3

Lifetime’s Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B  movie arrived on the small screen last night (Nov. 15)  and unfortunately met its low expectations. After Aaliyah’s family announced that they were not involved, the excitement for Babygirl’s story to be told turned to uncertainty and doubt. Last night, naysayers were proved right and bashed the flick all over social media. Though Aaliyah, played by Alexandra Shipp, was depicted as sweet, determined and in control of her career, the film was far from impressive. Her fans were not the only ones p##### off; Timbaland hated it too. Check out five thoughts on why this film was a disappointment.

aaliyah family

Family Matters

Her family should have been involved. Since they refused give Lifetime rights to Aaliyah’s catalog, the network was forced to use awful background music that sounded like it came from a karaoke machine. Hearing Alexandra Shipp do all the singing made viewers long to hear Aaliyah’s voice even more. The movie also lacked an authentic feel, something that could have been achieved if the actors had heartfelt conversations with her parents, siblings and loved ones.

rkelly

R.Kelly Is A Creep

Just when we almost forgot about his sex scandal, we were reminded that R.Kelly is a creep. It was disturbing watching the 28-year-old producer fall in love with a 15-year-old Aaliyah. Watching what should have stayed a schoolgirl crush grow into a love story was cringe worthy. Twitter also alleged that the film conflicted with how Aaliyah’s parents actually found out about her marriage. Music writer for the Los Angeles Times Gerrick Kennedy tweeted that her parents intercepted when she and Kelly were getting off a plane for their honeymoon. Eww.

aaliyah

Aaliyah’s Style Is Missed

One thing that was eye-catching during the first half of the movie was the reenactment of Aaliyah’s fashion sense. The baggy jeans and tight tube tops all via Tommy Hilfiger evoked a nostalgia for 90s threads.

aaliyahlifetimecast

The Script And The Cast Need A Do-Over

The script was dull, routine and had a few corny moments (R. Kelly bigging himself up as if he was too big to work with Aaliyah was a bit much). The speeches about how she was destined to be a star and the cliche-feel of her and Dame Dash’s first encounter were so predictable that this writer felt awkwardly embarrassed for the network. To make things worse, the actors that filled in for her longtime collaborators Missy Elliott and Timbaland were far from believable. Chattrisse Dolabaille, who played Missy, was lacking the “Supa Dupa Fly” rapper’s signature finger waves and the plus-size frame she had back in the 90s. Timbaland’s portrayal by Izaak Smith had viewers scratching their heads as well. They didn’t quite hit it on the head with casting Dame Dash’s character either, but they tried. Did anyone notice that the actor that played her brother, A.J Saudin, looks like Drake?

aaliyah-biopic

More About Nothing

This biopic was the script to her Behind The Music. We didn’t learn anything new or uncanny about the singer, besides her naive love for R. Kelly and even that became boring. Without her family’s input, this was the best Lifetime could do. Unfortunately, their best wasn’t good enough.

Kendrick Lamar Pays Homage To Method Man During SNL Performance (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar returned to Saturday Night Live last night (November 15) to perform his latest single “i” during the program. K. Dot appeared wearing black contacts and part of his cornrows undone which caused some viewers to question the TDE emcee’s decision to show up with that particular presentation.

It appears Kendrick used the moment to pay homage to Method Man’s debut solo album Tical. November 15 also happens to be the 20 year anniversary of the release of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s LP. Kendrick’s contacts and hair were reminiscent of how Meth appeared in the video for his classic track “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By” featuring Mary J. Blige.

The good kid, m.A.A.d city album creator also later returned to SNL to take the stage with Jay Rock. The two Black Hippy members performed Rock’s track “Pay For It.”

Watch Kendrick Lamar’s SNL performances and the video for “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By” below.

Kendricvk Lamar Performs "I" and "Pay For It" On SNL

Saturday Night Live has been on a roll with their weekly performances, and last comes to no surprise that the performer was going to be dope. Why? Well, because Kendrick Lamar was the performer for last night’s episode, and he nailed it! The TDE member performed his new single “i” and also brought Jay Rock out to perform “Pay For It”. Timbaland & Aaliyah Fans Go In On Wendy Williams & Lifetime For Biopic

(AllHipHop News) Last night (November 15) Lifetime aired its much-talked about Aaliyah biopic, and the response on social media was overwhelmingly negative. The R&B singer’s fans were not happy with the depiction, and Baby Girl’s close friend/producer Timbaland addressed the project and the movie’s producer Wendy Williams.

[ALSO READ: Executive Producer Wendy Williams Reveals Details About Aaliyah Biopic]

Twitter and Instagram were flooded with memes featuring the trending topics #LifetimeBeLike and #LifeTimeBiopics that clowned the casting choices for the film. Williams’ IG page was also hit with comments bashing the talk show host.

At one point Williams even sent out a tweet that gave the wrong title of one of Aaliyah’s most popular songs. She wrote, “’Let Me Know’ is my favorite Aaliyah song! What’s yours? #AaliyahMovie,” referring to the Detroit native’s remake of The Isley Brothers’ “At Your Best (You Are Love).” The error led to even more backlash aimed at Wendy.
