(AllHipHop News) Former drug Kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross has announced details about an upcoming autobiography, with acclaimed investigative journalist Cathy Scott.
The book focuses on the story of Freeway Ricky Ross, who was one of Los Angeles’s biggest drug traffickers in the late 1980s and early 1990s, running a coast-to-coast $600 million drug operation.
“It will be directly from my mouth as you read it,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “It will be the story no one knows, my rise and fall, the connections, exclusives on my involvement in the entertainment industry at my height and how the cocaine trade as we know it blossomed.”
Freeway Rick’s drug empire, which was connected to the infamous Iran/Contra scandal, was dismantled by the government when he was sentenced to life in prison in 1996.
The life sentenced was overturned on a legal technicality and Ross eventually spent 20 years in prison for his drug-related crimes.
Cathy Scott, who wrote books on the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, will help Freeway Rick tell his story.
“It will cover the early 1970’s through the 90’s likely. Much of it is from me scribing while in prison, but Cathy and I will flesh it out together. I expect it to be a big seller.”
Freeway Rick, who will be featured in an investigative piece on the cocaine trade in the October issue of Esquire, said his autobiography will drop in 2014.
Kool Herc: The Father of Hip-Hop
On August 11, 2013, Hip-Hop Culture, born and bred in the mean streets of New York, turned 40 years old.
On August 12, 2013, Kendrick Lamar lyrically defecated on the whole city with a passionate, lyrical display on Big Sean’s “Control.”
Hip-Hop has always been a fickle beast and still is to this day. The culture is more blood sport than mere music and competition is the cornerstone of it all. Eat or be ate. And that’s a good thing. When Kendrick dropped his bars on “Control” he essentially said, “You guys are my brothers, but step it up. Show me what you got.”
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n***as/ Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n***as/ They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n***as/ What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high/ Who tryna jump and get it? You better off tryna skydive
Now, which one of the rappers named will respond (J. Cole, Big KRIT, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Tyler The Creator, Mac Miller)? Furthermore, New “The Fatherland” York was not left out of the fray. Set to the backdrop of a 40th birthday, the contrast is jarring. What New York rapper will step in and counter Kendrick’s brazen claims of being the King of New York (as well as the West King). Maybe Joe Budden. Perhaps Fabolous. The 26-year-old has Compton resident has demanded that rappers step out out on faith and raise the quality level at its most haughty and at the base “accept this challenge.” Who wants it. In New York’s heyday, there would have been a slew of darts tossed back.
The Golden Era is gone and its not coming back, but if there ever was a substitute, this is it right now. Hip-Hop is no longer separated by regions thanks to the internet. This means there are times when you hear a bit of Andre 3000 or even Eminem in the influences of Kendrick Lamar. This is why A$AP Rocky can be so trill. K-Dot’s major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city, proves that he was reared to be great by the likes of Dr. Dre, The Game and others. This is not unlike Large Professor taking Nas under his wing or Big Daddy Kane putting Jay Z on tour. So, there are two sides to this competitive thing called Hip-Hop where the art gets push forward, but you better keep your bars up.
At 40, Hip-Hop music is looking pretty good. Sure, a lot of the “culture” is left on the fringes or with a select few still in tune with more traditional aspects. Then something like this call to arms happens happens and everybody – in synch and unified – remembers what is all about.
Competition.
Being the best.
Iron sharpens iron.
Let us get it on.
I could go on, but I’ll let the legendary Big Daddy Kane have the final word.
I never tried to argue with another m.c. that I was better than him. I got on the mic or stage and PROVED IT!!!!!
(AllHipHop News) A$AP Ferg is a very charitable (and marketing savvy) Trap Lord. A week before his debut album Trap Lord hits retailers on August 20th, Ferg gives out a free stream of the entire project on his website.
The album consists of collaborations of with Onyx (“F*ck Out My Face”), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (“Lord”), Waka Flocka Flame (“Murda Something”).]
Frank Ocean and John Mayer collaborate for another sub-2 minute song on John’s new song “Wildfire”.
Following their pairing on Frank’s “White” off of Channel, Orange, Frank returns the favor somberly singing over sedative guitar licks for Mayer’s upcoming album Paradise Valley.
Do not let the title fool you..Trinidad James IS back but he’s not giving out friend chicken. Def Jam’s rookie is following up his popular 2012 mixtape Dont Be S.A.F.E. with his new mixtape, 10 PC Mild.
The mixtape includes features from Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, Young Scooter, Childish Gambino, Cyhi The Prynce and more.
Miley Cyrus is well aware of two things. What a good record is and what her skin color is and she has be the center of Hip Hop debates for both.
Last night (August 12th), French Montana and Miley Cryus let go an in-studio video preview of their upcoming remix to French’s summer smash “Ain’t Worried Bout Nothin”.
Check out an in studio preview video of the remix below:
(AllHipHop News) Flying Lotus connects with Cartoon Network once again for the new theme song for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The L.A. based rapper/producer previously worked on the network’s Adventure Time and collaborated with DOOM for a track on Adult Swim’s Singles Program due out on August 26.
Flying Lotus last studio album Until the Quiet Comes was heralded by many music critics as a masterpiece. He has produced for Blu, Mac Miller, and Hodgy Beats. His video for “Tony Tortures” is up for the Best Visual Effects trophy at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
(AllHipHop News) Mad Decent recording artist and former MTV reality show star Riff Raff was arrested on Sunday for drug possession. The Houston, Texas native’s vehicle was searched by police in Greensboro, North Carolina early that morning after his car was stopped in the middle of traffic.

(AllHipHop News) Soulja Boy was forced to exit an American Airlines flight on Friday, because the 23-year-old rapper refused to take his seat. According to TMZ, a flight attendant ordered all the passengers to sit down. Soulja Boy continued to walk the aisles of the plane even after the airline employee informed him what would happen if he did not comply. He was then removed from the plane.
Soulja Boy spoke with TMZ about the incident offering an apology to all involved.
“It was a bad night and me and the flight staff didn’t see eye to eye,” said the “Crank That” performer. “In hindsight, I’m extremely sorry for all inconvenience caused to the passengers and employees of the airline.”
(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar did not hold anything back on his latest verse off Big Sean’s “Control (HOF).” The TDE emcee took a huge step forward in claiming the “The Greatest of His Generation” title by telling several of his peers that the only ones in his league right now are rap veterans Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, and André 3000. He also caught people’s ear when he even claimed that he is “The King of New York.”

In what may be the verse of the year already K-Dot spits:
I’m usually homeboys with the same n*ggas I’m rhyming with
But this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n*ggas
It seems Kendrick’s message was heard loud and clear, because a few emcees took to Twitter to respond.
@kendricklamar so mad on that song, ha ha… Sheesh @JayElectronica on there like a scientist! Thanks u rappin ass n#####
Happy Tuesday La Familia! Bienvenido a la mejor día del resto de tu vida. Welcome to the day you realize that the people who you surround yourself with are the ones who are either going to take you higher or be your downfall! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to putting your family first! Family as defined by Webster dictionary is a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head : household or a group of persons of common ancestry : clan or a people or group of peoples regarded as deriving from a common stock : race or a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation : fellowship… Today my definition of family is any group of people who love and support each other unconditionally! I don’t care what your bloodline is, who you grew up with, or what set you claim… Effective immediately ONLY surround yourself with those who will lift you higher! You are who you surround yourself with, so if the love isn’t unconditional, if you aren’t being nurtured for growth then you are wasting valuable energy! Put Family First! Those who no matter what, will never judge you and always guinuinely support you! Because as my favorite quote in the world says…. “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
-Ash’Cash

Foxy Brown is one of a kind for you people’s delight. Just look at her career and life. No matter how you slice it, if you are a 90’s rapper still be discussed in 2013, you are special.
And Foxy Brown in special. I love the brown fox, because she’s never shied away from anything. And in light of the recent controversy surrounding her, she has now taking her proverbial lemons and made:
Last week, they said she was stealing weave! This week, my sources tell me that Foxy is now in the process of creating her own line of weaves. Honestly, I’m not at liberty to reveal who gave her the line of weave, but Foxy has reportedly settled on the name of the line and will be releasing it soon. I got a couple names that she may be using, but I am hearing that the name of the line of weaves all be rooted in her real life name: Inga Marchand. Her name is pretty royal and I am hearing this is how she will present it to the women out there that live a head full of silky weave. Oh, and Foxy got some of you gay brothers too. You know you trolls out there.
(AllHipHop News) Texas Hip Hop legend Pimp C will live on in a new album that will apparently be produced by Taylor Gang artist Juicy J. The Academy Award winner announced his involvement with the UGK member’s project of unreleased material on Twitter.
The posthumous, untitled album will be the follow-up to Pimp C’s 2011 LP Still Pimping.
Juicy has provided production for Future, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne over the last few years. His third solo album Stay Trippy is scheduled for release this year. It will feature the track “Smokin’ Rollin” featuring Pimp C.
(AllHipHop News) The New York Police Department’s controversial Stop-and-Frisk policy has been ruled a violation of constitutional rights by a federal judge on Monday. Four men filed a class-action lawsuit against the NYPD in 2004 claiming they were stopped by police just because of their race. U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin said that nine of the 19 stops testified about during the 10-week Floyd vs. City of New York trial were unconstitutional and five stops included wrongful frisking.
“The city’s highest officials have turned a blind eye to the evidence that officers are conducting stops in a racially discriminatory manner,” wrote Scheindlin. “In their zeal to defend a policy that they believe to be effective, they have willfully ignored overwhelming proof that the policy of targeting ‘the right people’ is racially discriminatory.”
Judge Scheindlin did not end the policy, but offered that it be reformed. An independent court monitor has been assigned to oversee the reforms to the policy. Police in areas where most of the stops took place were also ordered to test wearing body cameras.
“This is a groundbreaking victory,” said NAACP President Ben Jealous.
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to file an appeal of the ruling.
“We didn’t believe that we were getting a fair trial,” said Bloomberg. “And this decision confirms that suspicion.”
Current New York mayoral candidate Anthony W##### called the ruling a “teachable moment for our city.”
“Im usually homeboys with the same nigg*s I’m rhyming with/but this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should knwo what time it is.”
No disrespect to Big Sean or Jay Electronica, but their new collaboration, “No I.D. Freestyle” essentially begins and ends with a verse of the year candidate performance from Kendrick Lamar.
On the song, K Dot names drops Wale, Big KRIT, Drake, Meek Mill, Jay Electronica, Tyler the Creator, Mac Miller, J. Cole, A$AP Rocky and Pusha T when playfully threatening to “make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas.”
This song was left off of Big Sean’s upcoming Hall of Fame album due to “sample clearances”.
Damn shame this album won’t end up on the new Big Sean album, but the streets should eat this up and have leftovers! Big Sean and Jay Electronica have very impressive showings on “Control,” but Kendrick Lamar drops the atom bomb on every thing.
Jay Z made a huge splash when he recorded 6 hours of performance art into the tremendously big video “Picasso Baby.” The event was wrought with hype, but mostly it was just another in a series of big moves from the Roc-A-Fella don.
The creative genius on the internet have a different set of art, largely bent on mutilating and mashing up what already exists into something new and redefined. A artist known as Culture Pirate too the final version of “Picasso Baby” and melded it with the audio from Taylor Swift’s “22.” The result can be seen below.
The rapper Game is known to get into some controversy, but this one may be another great human rights issue that faces America going forward. First there was Civil Rights, then Women’s Right and Gay Rights…but now…what about Tattooed People’s Right?
Yeah, The Game wear at a restaurant in Pasadena, CA and apparently he was refused service because of all the tattoos he has on his body. That’s right. Game, known to be a big tipper, was given the boot. The rapper went off on Twitter too. He said: “Never eating (at) Houston’s restaurants as long as I live! Denied service in Pasadena by (the manager)… because: I have tattoos on my arms ?!?… It’s 90 degrees outside so I have a tank top on & the manager on duty says the tattoos on my arms are threatening 2 (to) lunch customers…Racism still exists… Don’t eat at Houston’s Pasadena…”
Now he clearly claims racism, but if he runs with the tattoo side of things, he can probably get more people on his side. Shoot, Black people in 2013 don’t even believe they are racists in the world any more. SMH.
“They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!” -illseed.
Anyway, this dude has already set up the next season of “Love And Hip-Hop” lovely. And it just wrapped. But, the good people over at Bossip have breaking news about this.
I’m a former friend of “PROMISE B MAE” and yes she is pregnant by Stevie. They have been keeping this on the low for a minute. Up until the whole marriage thing with him and Joseline they have been seriously beefing, so she told me about a week ago that she will be having an abortion if he doesn’t get his isht together and stop keeping her a secret for TV purposes and because of Joseline. Long story short she changed her number, and since then I ran into Stevie and of course he asked about her and whether or not I had her new number, so we began to talk and I slipped up and told him about the abortion. After she sent the screen shot she called me to see if i received it and to ask me if i told Stevie because only a few people know. I admitted it and the convo got real heated, words were exchanged and it got real ugly so, if that’s how she feel this is how I feel. F**k that b***h her secret is no longer safe with me.
Here she is:
Text messages below.
Did you know back in the day, Steve Raze of AllHipHop was called Stevie J too. Hahahaaha!
