Hip-Hop Rumors: Are Jay-Z and Beyonce Trademarking Blue Ivy?

In what I can only assume is an attempt to stop others from exploiting their child’s name, Jay-Z and Beyonce have allegedly filed filed an application to trademark the name ‘Blue Ivy Carter.’  The application was reportedly submitted on January 26, 2012.

Four days after Blue Ivy Carter was born, a New York businessman tried to trademark Blue Ivy NYC for a clothing line, and another company tried to trademark Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV for a perfume line. Both applications were reportedly denied on the grounds that the names belong “to a very famous infant.”

Some people will do anything for a buck! I’m glad they were denied. Coincidentally, there was a Blue Ivy Clothing store in Wisconsin that was trademarked in 2011 before Beyonce even announced her pregnancy.  I wonder if that’s where the Carters got the name from?

Freeway Rick, Rick Ross Come Face to Face In Court

(AllHipHop News) The battle between former drug baron Freeway Rick Ross and Hip-Hop star Rick Ross rages on in court.

The two men appeared in a Miami court last week, to give depositions in their ongoing trademark dispute over the name Rick Ross.

“[He] treated me as if I had done something to him,” Freeway Rick Ross told The Huffington Post in a recent interview. “When he first came to me, he didn’t know what position I was going to take, if I was going to send a word out to those young cats out in L.A. or not. That put a little fear in his heart.

Freeway Rick Ross originally filed a $10 million lawsuit against Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts III in May of 2010, claiming that he is illegally profiting off of his name.

The lawsuit, which was filed in the United States District for Southern California, was dismissed in Federal court in November of 2010, when a judge ruled that he couldn’t sue, because his past criminal acts destroyed “any possibility that he has any valid trademark rights in his name, that have been violated by defendants.”

The judge ruled that Freeway Rick could appeal in state court, which he did immediately.

In an article in the Huffington Post last week, Freeway Rick Ross said the two men came face-to-face and the rapper shot dirty looks his way.

“Now that he knows I’m not carrying it like that, he’s a little more courageous right now,” Freeway Rick Ross said adding: [He] has my name tattooed on his hand.”

The case is ongoing.

Daily Word: It’s All Possible!!!

Happy Thursday, my Miracle Makers!

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to making your dreams happen! There are many people who live within the limitations of what reality says is possible. There are many people who can only see within the four walls in the box that society has given them. There are people who will fight tooth and nail to maintain this way of life… Then there are the delusional, the insane, the misguided who think that they can accomplish things that have never been done!

These ridiculous people have this notion that if they just believe in the unseen, it will somehow just appear! These wackos try to defy everything that conventional wisdom has ever tried to teach them….. But truth be told, this second group of rule breakers are the innovators, the creators, the people who move our world forward!

So who are you? Do you live in a box, or are you insane! Will you keep the world the way you found it, or will you contribute something great to it! Remember that anything is possible! Whatever the mind can conceive is real and can happen! Don’t get trapped in a mental prison that just gives you below the minimum that life can offer! Understand that believing in the unseen is the only way to make it happen! Create a new reality! One that defies the norm and pushes your creativity to the limit! It Is All Possible!! Be Ridiculous and make the impossible happen!!
